Why, WHY couldn't it have been Defensor? It would've fit in with my plans so well. :(

I really hope this is true!!! A must buy for me as I still don't have any G1 Devastator in my collection.

Next Transformers Encore: Devastator?

Seibertron.com member "Real Devastator" found a forum post with a blurry photo of what is said to be the box for the next Transformers Encore figure. As you know Transformers Encore is Takara's current reissue line devoted to re-releasing the classic Transformers G1 toys from the 80's.

The forum posters speculate that this is in fact the Constructicons or in other words, Devastator.

But as this is just speculation we advise you to take this as a rumour and with a grain of salt.

Stay tuned to seibertron.com for all your Transformers related news!

Hmm... I guess it would make sense, Takara could be reissuing the G1s that were in the recent movie (Skids, Devestator)

Maybe Sideswipe will be next?

If Takara want to reissue Gestalt Gift set how about some Defensor and Computron? These Encore reissues (while great) are pretty predictable and plain, I'd love it if they'd just pick a totally random G1 mold and be like "Oh, and we're reissuing Double Dealer next thursday... Bam!".

Amen to this!!! I'd buy both, but I especially want a minty fresh Computron. I only had Scattershot, Strafe, and Nosecone as a kid. :-(

As for an official Devy reissue - I think it's a great idea. Capitalize on the movie, stick it to the knock-off makers, any make one of the iconic characters/figures available for those who need/want it. I just hope we don't see any of the issues that have been reported about Bruticus (no die-cast parts, cheapish plastic, mold degradation).

Is it worth what? Worth buying? Or are you asking what the original G1 Devastator is worth? What do you mean?

Double dealer is NOT a totally random G1 mold! I happen to be rather fond of Double Dealer :)

We're all rather fond of Double Dealer, bro - My point is that the Encore line has mostly been the 1984 cars and jets - Omega Supreme and some of the recent casseticons (like Overkill and Slugfest) have really been the only surpizes in the line(for me atleast).

Don't worry, I know what you mean. I think there are a few issues involved in the choices for the Encore's. One of the most important factors is probably re-usablity of the original molds. Not all molds will have stood the test of time as well as other molds; for some of the more popular sets of the 80's, there were probably several sets of molds created (also considering that most of these were already repaints back in the day), making re-releases based on (the best surviving of) these molds most feasible.

This in turn is closely connected to the popularity of the sets themselves: it's obvious that these sets are not only marketed to us hardcore TF fans, but also to the more casual buyers who will want to buy a TF they remember from the 80's or as a character from TF 1 and RotF. Re-releasing a TF like Double Dealer which is both a 'brick' and that 'nobody' recognizes is going to be a bad business decision!

The cassettes and OS were slightly surprising, but perhaps these molds were in excellent condition and (in the case of the cassettes) still thought of as viable due to their small size and the co-sell.

Pass....

You see it is not that i don't like the original G-1 devastator.. quite the contrary.. it is just that i would rather see a proper Universe 3.0 updated classics type of Devastator.. one that actually looks like an updated and proper G-1 version..come on Hasbro!! Hook it up will ya??

That would be pretty boss, as I had the whole team given to me as a child but more than half the combiner bits were broken or missing and I could never, ever form Devastator (or Devastar). I`d also gladly shell out for an e-hobby Diaclone coloured set with Autobot logos.

Still haven't gotten Sky Lynx yet...
And, why oh why can I never get my hands on a Soundwave? Always sells out or skyrockets in price before I can get my mitts on one...my G1 Soundwave broke when I was a youngun...

This would be great news if I didn't already have a mint loose Devastator. I wish Takara would reissue something I don't have. Cause you know, they should be in tune with that. <Looks over at complete G1 collection and realizes this is impossible>

Just kidding. This is great news, especially for those that don't have it. I wish Takara could create a new mold and enlarge the figure, say double the size. Now that would be cool.

It's in styrofoam. It's a fake.

Yet it also looks like it has the encore logo as well as the big black and yellow encore number in the bottom left corner... it could be a 20...

Also could be packaged in white plastic instead of clear...

Hmmm... didn't think of white plastic. Not only is the Encore badge in the top left and a number in the bottom, you can see a blue TakTom logo in the bottom right. However, those are all obvious required additions if you were to make a fake. Hiding foam might not be as much so. But yeah, could be white plastic :-?

Or it is Styrofoam and this is just a package prototype. Or maybe Styrofoam is cheaper to use now?

But I so hope this is real and we're getting an Encore Devastator I really need a G1 Devs.

The only probable reason that I would pick this up is to see how it goes with my Legends Collection (if the components are that small) and because I would love to make a stop-motion fight between G1 Devastator vs. ROTF Devastator. Who would win? I dunno, I just film what I feel like. :P

I have doubts on this...

I hope it's true, but still it's odd to see a finished package set-up before ANYTHING else gets leaked ANYWHERE.

I already have a G1 KO and a G2 KO. They are all the same, just minus some diecast parts. The spring loaded weapons work and since there is no safety law for KO's I may actually be able to kill someone with one of these...or at least choke to death on a flying piece. I don't need an officially licensed version. However, I still need a real Defensor, so I can scrap my KO into Guard City.

So if it's legit, good luck to those who will drop $85 on something that can be bought as a KO for $5.

If it's a KO, then D@mn, these guys are getting good, and that's a little scary. At least I can tell my KO's are KO's and I paid accordingly.
