3-feet tall Unicron?

I was discussing Transformers figures in general and the big ones in particular on another hobby forum, stating that Armada Unicron (and his follow-ups) was the second-largest TF made, only to be dwarfed by Fortress Maximus. But then someone posted this:

i may be wrong but my understanding was that the tallest TF was the japanese exclusive unicron at 3ft. my coworker has one MIB. he want another one he can play with. will have to see if i can get photo.

What?
Did I miss a memo somewhere?
Is there really a giant Unicron out there somewhere or can I safely assumed this to be the tall tale I expect it to be?

that could be a mistake..

unless he's got the original Japanese Beast Wars version, which is a prototype...

Everyone is a liar and it's going to rain tomorrow.

He could be talking about one of the G1 Unicrons. I don't think any of them ever made it into boxes though.

Hasbro recently had 2 of them (I think 10 exist?) on display at Botcon a few weeks ago. They looked pretty big in the pictures Ryan took.

I was thinking that too! it could have had a custom package made for it.. or a box it was shipped in.. the description of the figure is vague at best..

Wow, I'd hate to think about how much a G1 Unicron in a custom box would cost. Quite a few thousand bucks... :-?

In short, it really is a tall tale. Unicron was never publicly released until 2003, even then the unreleased Beast Wars Neo Unicron was the size of an Ultra at best.

People tend to exaggerate, especially on the internets.

A 3 feet tall Unicron toy? Now that would be the holy grail of Transformers.

Thought so.
But now I really wish he'll post a pic. Just to see what he's talking about.

And I agree: A 3-feet Unicron would be awesome.

The original unproduced G1 Unicron is about 18" tall by my estimate. It's shorter than Fortress Maximus. Attached to this post is a picture of Unicron on display at BotCon 1996, which was the last time I had seen this figure prior to BotCon 2009.

^That picture of Unicron is awful. The ones you got from Botcon this year are much better.

Are there any pictures of produced versions of the BW Neo Unicron in existance? I've seen a sketch of it but would be curious as to what it looked like in plastic.

Yup. Unless it's a custom job I call shenanigans as well.

Only ones I know of are the unpainted prototype which shows nothing of scale sadly.

Oh yes. THat's what I wanted exactly. Thanks!
As for scale, that one pic has the Hot Rod that came with Star COnvoy by Unicrons' foot, so maybe that could be used to determine scale. Clearly though, it's not 3 feet tall. But thanks a ton Mkall for the pictures!

Here's a rough scale guide I made a long while ago. Since I have Micromaster Hot Rod, G1 Hot rod, and Armada Unicron, this sorta thing can be made. I tried to scale Takara's prototype by it's rubsign.

The unpainted Unicron prototype looks so cool!

This is a really cool scale guide. I'm going to save the pic and add it to my ever growing Transformers reference directory.

the Rodimus prime from the original G-1 was about what 6 inches tall in robot mode?? maybe a bit less..

but maybe this guy's scale is off, but I found this image which has the G-1 Rodimus next to a protoype unicron toy.. and this toy is about 2 feet tall.. 24 inches.. if the rodimus next to it is 6 inches then it would make sense.. maybe this is the one he is talking about and is mistaken.. it's the 2nd one on the far right of the image...but not the last one
http://www.themechanicalmaniacs.com/ima ... nsizes.jpg

there were 2 G-1 Unicrons done.. one was larger and electric, the other was smaller and not..

the electric one was probably about 2feet tall from foot to horns, it also had a base, and a gun attachment... judging by the size of the rodimus in the pic, it's gotta be about 2 feet tall..

Erm, I'm right here. I posted the image there and Rpetras posted my article. It's probably a little off ... what with angles and such. It's also kinda tough to scale a blurry rubsign, but I did my best.

Sorry about that, I didn't read the earlier posts before I posted..good scale work though..I really think you did a great job with it..
