FansProject G3 TFX-02 Trailer is AWESOME!

Just picked up my unit from the nearest friendly neighborhood specialty shop. (Haven't got the pics up yet) but the one word I can describe it is AWESOME!

Basically you get the uber looking trailer set (a great update to the classic G1 Convoy trailer).

It has a functional launcher, a simulated robot/missile launcher (like the G1 but with no missiles doo hickey) with mechanical arms which when folded simulates a cannon mode with handles like the THS-02 trailer by Takara.

Not to mention a "stealth" cover gimmick to explain where the heck does the trailer go after the cab transforms to robot mode. This gimmick is by far IMHO a very smart if not innovative take on how Convoy hides his big @ss trailer.

Oh not to forget the "Roller/Buggy" like drone and a label sheet to apply the finer details

And last but not the least, a chromed weapon set for henkei/classic Bumble B,Grimlock,Sideswipe and Mirage.

FansProject has done it again and delivered what could be the best independently manufactured Convoy trailer since THS-02 ( I ain't counting MP-04 'cause that one lacks a decent Roller component)

Glad to hear it. I've got it on Preorder at BBTS, but I hope they take their time getting it in. I've got a bunch of other purchases in flight (ROTF stuff and some rarer minicons) so I could use a few weeks to get caught up money wise.

Awesome review fenrir72! I too have one coming to me soon, I ordered mine through a private seller in asia who has sweet deals all the time for me..so I hope to have mine in a couple of weeks, depending on the shipping times..I have seen allot of new images on this thing, and I have to agree, the detail, the colors, and box, the whole package is worth the price..these will easily become sought after pieces for the Classics/Henkei Prime figures..

what my favorite thing about this set is also that you can place your prime toy in the plastic package with the trailer to simulate the old school G-1 Optimus Prime..it is like they took MISB collectors in consideration..

Well then I got some bad news for you. They've changed their estimated arrival date to August 20th (today)

I think BBTS is just on their, 'We know it should be here soon...so we'll update the arrival date everyday and when we're right, we'll stop' bit.

I really like the FP trailer but with the Commander trailers already assigned to OP/UM/NP, I just don't have the room. :(

Most likely, although I'm willing to bet we'll see it in by wednesday

The best part is that G3 can tow the Commander trailer like God Bomber can tow Apex Armor. It's really beautiful...

Yeah and it makes me regret not having the space for it at this time even more. Gah! Wait...I could buy it and just put it in storage...

Probably better than paying for it later if you decide you want it. I expect this to be going for $350-$400 by this time next year.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. Many of my recent purchases have been pre-orders since they items are going to be really expensive later on.

Hey don't keep it MISB hehehe. Okay as skywarp already has one I can elucidate further, you'd notice that FP's designers are quite clever.

On the repair mech/combat artillery deck component, I like how by simply extending it, you activate a mechanism which transforms it from the get go into an offensive form. You also have a blast shield of sorts similar to Rodimus Prime's blast shields.

Connecting to the CC/DIA Commander trailer is also quite amazing, a collapsible connecter underneath can be extended to impliment this mode so no kibble.

And taking a nod at the THS-02, the rear ramp is extendable when you fold it out.

The "stealth mode" or something similar to GITS Motoko Kusanagi's camo optic skin, MGS stealth uniform or as seen in GI Joe:ROC, in a more reality base explanation, the trailer does not disappear into subspace but merely falls behind and hides. I did not remove the extra plastic covering on the gimmick so as to avoid any smudging from my grimmy fingers.

If this is what FP does on Convoy's trailer, I sudder to think what they have in store for the Protector upgrade.

Dang it, now I have got to order the trailer. I cannot resist its lure.

combined with the TFCON Powered commander Armor I have, this set will look brilliant!! I may not keep it MISB for too long, but I like how they put that option there.. that whole mirrored Hiding mode makes so much sense.. it is such a cool thing to make this trailer much more distinct and sought after.. to actually give a functional explanation as to why Optimus Prime's trailer disappears in the cartoons.. it is just pure genius!!

plus in some cases your Prime can use the trailer to fight enemies, like in the original TV show where Optimus Prime fired off a round at Megatron..it was pretty cool..

convotron, this is THE trailer to end all trailers.. if only they made one for the Masterpiece...oh well.. Henkei/Classics are the New G-1!!

Hehe, you're no help! I have to buy it now.

How do the chromed weapons look with the classics figures? I'd love to give BB a blaster to wield.

Except if you're a MISB collector, your Prime is still...MISB. And if you get a loose one to put in the trailer package it'll no longer be...MISB. Oh, the irony! But still a pretty cool feature.

Makes me both regretful and glad I inexplicably skipped buying classics Prime. Regretful because this thing looks and sounds cool, but glad that I have no reason to drop another friggin' hundo. It really escapes me, though, why I didn't just dish out the lousy $20 on Prime when I had multiple chances to do so. Don't even think I yet had Magnus when I was passing on him.

**edit: I take it back, I remember why I didn't get him now. It was early in my return to collecting and I wasn't much impressed with any of the other classics figs I had gotten to that point. I believe I had Jetfire, Ramjet, and Grimlock at that point and their transformations weren't all that complex or exciting which was the biggest reason I started buying TFs again, and at the time in my collecting I didn't feel the draw of certain "staples" to a collection. And of course now that I know a little better I can't just get him for an easy $20. I should probably look to pick him up loose on eBay for a reasonable price if still possible, though. But then I might buy the friggin' trailer... #-o

Assuming they don't sell out (which is a huge assumption) I planning on getting one in about 3 weeks.

ahhh but here is the reason why it works.. keeping your Henkei or classics Prime MISB is still viable, and buying one for sale loose is cool because this item is a 3rd party product, and as such as an MISB collector you could justify opening it up to place the classics/Henkei Prime into the package and resealing it..and then displaying it for all to gawk at in pure jealousy!! muahahaahhahahaa

yeah when I was doing my collecting early on when these first showed up, I passed on them, then I saw the light after I began to explore the coolness that is the cybertron/Galaxy force universe.. but here is the plan Kibble.. to save on your wallet..

buy the henkei/classics prime loose on eBay.. then order the trailer.. then place the figure in with the trailer and you have a cleaver box to store your prime in.. and feel like it is a complete set.. saved you about 30.00 bucks by doing it that way.. and you get the best of both worlds.. from what I have seen of the G3 box, it is collector friendly.. I.E. easily opened and resealed if necessary..

so you can take it out display and then reseal for MIB display..or if the tape is easily pealed and resealed it can be made MISB..either way this is a definite must have.. Classics prime has gotten so much add ons and extras, he's definitely the most sought after figure in the transformers toyline today..or at least one of the most versatile..

Other than Prime and Megs, I'm still not overly fond of most the first round of classics figs. I like most of the characters, but they're not the most exciting figs to transform. Most of the classics 2.0 are fantastic, though.

Anyhow, I checked eBay...looks like the going rate is about $30 to get a complete loose Prime shipped with the possibility of low $20s if you play the eBay game patiently. What sucks is shortly before the trailers were announced toyarena.com had Henkei Prime for $35 (then use the 10% off code!) so I was contemplating an order of that and RID Black Convoy (aka Scourge,) but then the trailers were announced and they jacked them up to $49.99.
