Wow, the weapon accessories look very cool and the retooled doors are nifty. I'm still doubtful about the zebra pattern idea but maybe the finished product will have a good paint app.

I love the new adjustments to the alt mode, it really makes Ironhide look like he's going to war but the inherent issues in the figure make me hesitant to put aside money for this. If the feet and chest design was revamped, I'd be all over this.

And I thought he was going to have a crossbow of some sort.

The robot mode I'm actually liking, except the head needs some paint apps. All black gives it no detail at all. No painted eyes to stand out, no mouth or vents or anything. And I'm still hating the stripes in alt mode, along with all the added rollbars and lights. Maybe some paint would fix those though.

Can you say prototype? Probably cast in that gray plastic instead of the translucent plastic it has in those sections.

That big a$$ bumper is supposed to turn into the crossbow. I believe along with the gray rollbars in the truck bed.

Which issues? I have the original 2007 version, and everything still works perfectly with it.


Anyway, Looks really good. Loving all the weaponry. Just hope it does come with the huge cannon from the other release. But still with all the nifty parts and things its looking quite nice. If only they'd choose a slightly brighter paint scheme.

Finally! Some honest to goodness bad-ass HANDHELD weaponry to fit into all those empty fist holes. This is one of the things that made G1 so great- the pistols, the rifles, the CANNONS!
I skipped the ROTF release of 'Hide because I already have the original one and the blue off-road one, but I just might grab this version when it comes out.

Design issues. I have the RotF version. I'm not a fan of how the chest is composed of loose components(front halves of the truck, the flip up chest piece) and the torso is kind of empty. The feet have no articulation and aren't able to lock in place when flipped out so they aren't very stable. I can pose the figure but not in the best stances so I usually have Ironhide in alt mode because I think he looks better as a truck.

I don't think it'll matter if the final figure has translucent plastic because I thought Hasbro plans on painting the windowshield over. However, one could always remove the paint with something like isopropyl alcohol if they want.

To each his own I guess, I particularly like the bouncy chest and shoulder pads. As for the feet, yes they don't really lock in place.

I wasn't aware of that, and considering all versions of the mold thus far have had the translucent wind shield and windows, I find it an odd move in Hasbro's part to now paint them over.

This can't come out soon enough. I love the weaponry. I just hope he can carry it all in bot mode, in holsters and the like. It looks like all slots into vehicle mode, which is awesome. That was my biggest complaint about Animated: all the weaponry that had no where to go, like the Dinobot's weapons, Prowl's traffic light, etc.

As mentioned in the news, the grey/silver parts (other than the weapons) are modified parts for Ironhide. For easy viewing to spot the differences.
I believe the final version paint job will make the figure looks better. Not sure about the zebra deco though....

That is awesome, Rambohide. The Zebra stripes don't bother me, it could be hot pink with a rainbow across the hood and I'd still get it.

GenZhao at the kotoys thread said that the windshield is supposed to be painted blue. I hope it's a mistake. I like tranluscent windows.

He can carry them all in bot mode but they peg into various points on the body, including the back panel/truck roof. It's really cool. A whole bunch of photos are in the kotoys thread showing off different weapon placements.

I totally agree about the weapons in the TFA toys. At least Swoop's spiked ball and chain weapon could peg into his feet.

I'm considering trying to find the cannons from the 2007 Voyager Ironhide to at least "complete" my RotF Ironhide. If I can get those cannons, I think I may pick up JA Ironhide and truly laden it down with firepower. He'll be a mobile weapons platform.

Hasbro should add extra weapons or accessories to eva repaint for now on to convince us to buy them. That sumthing the company been lacking over the years by giving us bots with hardly no weapons to go with them even tho they suppose to be war bots. This IronHide is sold in my book. Zebra strips or not..lol

I jus want 2 add that I think the front grill become part of the crossbow like the bow and string and it jus combine with the cannon that already attach on his left arm.....

You could paint him in Dalmatian-cammo and I'd still want to buy him. Okay, maybe not that, but you know what I mean....

The hunting knife thingie seems kind of like an anachronism for a TF, though. Homage to John Rambo, perhaps?

Now that is Ironhide... its about time we get him. awesome pure awesome.
