Universe Hot Shot -- yes or no?

Well, what do you guys think about Universe/Classics Hot Shot? I don't have him, but he looks great, and personally, I'd love to own him. I've heard some pretty terrible reviews of him, but I still think he looks really awesome. He's out of stock at HTS, so he must be fairly popular. Your opinions?

The back kind of limits shoulder articulation, and Jolt is rather top-heavy and is delicate to pose. Also he's got no guns.

If you can find him, I'd suggest looking for the Henkei Version. He's got guns and the modified back allows for slightly better articulation

I actually prefer Armada Hot Shot because of the Axle-zooka, and I think the original Jolt is much nicer. The new one feels too fragile.

Thanks, guys -- I've been looking on eBay and BBTS for a few minutes -- no luck whatsoever. Thanks for the opinions, though.

I don't have it yet but I'll also throw in a vote for Henkei Hot Shot. There's apparently some disdain among some reviewers for the Hot Shot design from Armada but I kind of like the look. He's not the most elegant of Transformers in history but the design has a bit of charm for me. Also, it doesn't get much worse than Star Wars Transformers...I've been tainted by brief ownership of one.

I like him, but I also like Galvatron who a lot of people don't like. I think I just look for different qualities in a figure than a lot of others. I like cool looking figures with fun, complex transformations. IMO, Hot Shot fits that bill...as do the majority of the deluxe Universe/Classics figs.

I like almost every figure, but this figure sucks. Absolute garbage and it feels like a knock-off. That Armada version is 100 times better.

I have read lots of complaints about this figure. Passed it in stores numerous times, wasn't impressed by the looks.

If you're looking at Universe Hot Shot for the feel of Armada, than you'll be terribly disappointed. Stick to Armada Hot Shot for better plastic, a better mini-con and an actual gimmick.

QFT

Also, if you really want the (arguably) best version, pick up the Micron Densetsu version. The fist lights up!

I really want the Micron Legend version with the light up fists, but can't find one that's affordable. :-?

Really, Uni Hot Shot was probably the most disappointing one in the Uni / CL2 line for me. More so than even Galvatron. Of course, I didn't get either Cheetor or Dinobot, so neither one had a CHANCE to disappoint. :D

Dude, give Dinobot a chance! He's an awesome dude. I don't have Cheetor, but my bro does. Dinobot is great. There are some transformation quirks and some minor problems, but nothing major.

Cool. I want to get the Henkei version simply because of the guns. Pew pew!

The Universe / Henkei version imo, paintwise are a lot better than the original Armada version. :-?

get the Henkei version and use the Armada version's minicon.

The biggest difference is the back kibble. Since the henkei version is cut to allow the guns to be shown from the back, and the missiles acting as exhaust, the robot mode does not suffer at the back-shoulders like the Universe version. The drawback is the minicon, which feels very cheap. But the plus is the guns and modified back kibble for the Henkei version.

I highly recommend Takara version of Hot Shot!!! just like everyone is saying, the back kibble is moveable and just best overall looking figure all together and he has guns to boot!

i got mine here:

I'm a big Classics/Uni 2.0 fan, but this is the one figure from the line that I would not have cared had I missed out on. I do own him though, and he sucks. He has far too much kibble, his alt mode requires a lot of massaging to look right, and he feels like a KO. Jolt took a giant step backward from his Armada version, this one can't even stand up. If you have to get one, go with the Tak version, at least you'll get a couple of weapons that way.

From the mentioning of Hot Shot feeling like a KO, it it from an insubstantial feeling of the figures weight or cheap feeling plastic?

At first when I saw this I'm like, what a cop out. They took Armada Hot Shot, about 6-7 years old right now and recycled him into another line. When I was a tike (about 10-11 years old) when Armada came out. Hot Shot was my favorite. I had 3 yellow Hot Shots and 2 red ones. I couldn't get enough of him. Anyway, upon further investigation, per se on this and found it to be almost a new figure. He does give up his ability to have that axle-like RPG but he gains a lot more. First off, Universe/Henkei Hot Shot's vehicle mode is more stylish and realistic looking. He gains more posability and less kibble. So he gets a better Kibble:Posability ratio.

I'll have to go with the reissue on this because it offers more posablity. He also looks much cooler. I'm not going to get him anytime soon, but if I had to choose between the two it's the Henkei/Universe

For your personal references/comparison: Here's some pics for you to spot the differences.
