Optimus. Which ones should I own?

I'm waiting to see what others say is best between the masterpiece or 20th anvi. Prime. that is a must own.

I'm really wanting to collect certain Optimus that r just plain badass!
I already have a few of my what I consider the best Prime toys such as
(Takara Protoform it's so cool!, ROTF Leader just waiting to get Jetfire and beef him up, and i've ordered the Buster Prime amazing! Action figure...oh I personally consider the Roll out command due to it's size... the whole roll out transform really stinks though!)

So please let me know what others consider the coolest Primes to own?
I know of one other that may not get mentioned the eHobby clear Prime is awesome looking but i'm not into anything much rarer than that; such as Lucky Draw stuff.
So any and all comments welcome I can't wait to look up the pics via here or wiki to see the rest of the best. OR BETTER YET POST YOUR PICS OF IT .. IF YOU OWN IT! THX

p.s. Sorry I'm a browser for a couple years on here never really post much and always try to find answers first... n I know there a toy gallery but I can't (for some reason ) pull up the pics on there. they load all "blurred" oh well only toy gallery does this thanksfully.

All of them :)

Nah, I kid, I kid. I'll give a shot and name two.

RID Optimus Prime;
This guy is a beauty. Of course he's a Fire truck, might not exactly what you're asking for in Optimus, but it's just outstanding.
Image

Armada Leader Prime;
Alot of people go around saying that the Deluxe Sized Optimus is better. Well screw that. Combine Armada Leader Prime with Ultra Class Jetfire and Ultra Class Overload.... it just makes you wonder how plastic can look so beautiful.
Image

(Imma bit biased towards Armada and RID, expect a lot of people laughing at me)

In regards to 20th Anniversary Prime and MP Prime... It's go big or go home. Masterpiece Prime is a piece of brilliance, and nothing really matches up to it.

Can't go past G2 Laser Prime.

There's a mold that was ahead of it's time and infinitely superior to a lot of those that came after him.

Music Label Optimus Prime (best G1 update)
Powermaster Optimus Prime Reissue
Star Convoy Reissue
MP-01 Convoy (or MP-04 if you need a trailer)
Henkei Convoy
Animated Voyager Optimus Prime (the best ax for him comes from the OP Megs 2 pack)
Revolvtech Convoy
RotF Leader Optimus Prime
07 Movie Spychanger Optimus Prime (good luck!)
RiD Optimus Prime (without all that crappy armor on him)

I have every Optimus Prime/Convoy there is basically including the 10 I listed. If your collection doesn't need to be complete, just the best, go with these 10. No one will be able to disrespect your collection!

Between the Takara MP OP and the Hasbro 20th Anniversary, I think the big difference is the smokestack size and the paint application. Take a look at photos of them and see which one you like better visually.

The majority of Optimus Prime/Convoy figures are pretty darn good. Visually, they're all fairly striking, from the iconic G1 OP to the more anime styled RiD and Unicron Trilogy incarnations.

Figure-wise, you already have one of the best produced, which is the RotF Leader OP. Aesthetically, it succeeds for the most part as a good representation of the on-screen character. In terms of design and functionality as a Transformer toy, it's a well designed figure with solid construction. I really like the poseability, though the energy blade gimmick gets in the way of elbow articulation. The transformation is very satisfying if you enjoy well designed transformations.

I really like Energon Optimus Prime. Its basic Grand Cross super mode with the vehicle drones are cool. A lot of people give it flak for being Power Rangers-esque, which it is, but I look at it more like Vehicle Voltron/Kikou Kantai Dairugger XV and other anime that uses combining vehicle concepts. There's also a fair amount of articulation in Grand Cross mode. E OP's ability to combine with E Wing Saber and E Omega Supreme/Sentinel are cool too. E WS' two options(Fight and Flight) are a nice upgrade to typical single combination mode options. E OSupreme/Sentinel, honestly, are better by themselves. E OP doesn't contribute much except for a tiny head and the vehicle drones. E OSupreme/Sentinel look just as good by themselves, if not better.

Classics Optimus Prime is another great OP figure. It's a wonderful contemporary version of the G1 incarnation. It has solid construction and really feels like a fun toy when in hand. I like how the weapon accessories are incorporated into alt mode.

I must mention Armada OP. I don't have any hands-on experience with the figure but I really love the visual design. It seems to be a bit of a brick but so are many other TFs and this OP has a really unique look in its combined form with the trailer. Like E OP, this figure can combine with other figures, Jetfire and Overload.

I'm going to mention Alternity Convoy because I like the deviation from the traditional truck alt mode, the figure's visual design, and its mechanical design. Alternity Convoy really shows an efficient design, no part feels out of place to me, the transformation is nice and tight. The general feeling I get from the figure is precision. I really like some of the design details like how the legs transform, especially the way that the lower legs are composed.

first i'm gonna get back into the rebirth stuff to check out the story line. (which is after or at the end of the dvd season 4 or so I guess)seems like an awesome story.

but he straight confuses me. i've used ebay/wiki and sources here to research.

theirs the originals in 1988-89 and reissues... which i'd lean on for prices (especially the fire guts is sweet I read up on that! but $$$ woo! maybe later)

I don't understand Super Ginari, to Powermaster with Apex Bomber or Godbomber. So i've decided to just search powermaster (which is the same as God Ginari given takara or hasbro version? ) and pick the one I like best and go after it in the future. Seems like a must as his rebirth and "new" story.

ahh. confused. I'll get to him sometime.

thanks! definitely looking for him. three in one! sweet toy!

also I wanted to point out thanks for help. Sorry I suck at this stuff but i've only gotten back into it since 2006-2007. I have nearly all movie line and animated line toys. So i'm not completely in the dark. n have over 150 figs i'm very happy of. One day i'll post pic with everyone else collection in here.

I figure as long as people get back into (n stay into) the coolest action figure toys ever (vehicle n robot! of course it beats Joe up Sorry! lol) they'll continue to make these and many new series in the future for everyone to enjoy!

keep it rolling if you have a comment. greatly appreciated

no problem, glad to help B-) As for Powermaster Prime / God Ginrai, the only difference between the two I believe, is the amount of chrome there is on the Takara version, while the Hasbro version doesn't have the chrome paint.

PM Prime´s cab is plastic. God Ginrai´s cab is made of metal (mostly). GG also have "real" windows in the cab while PM Prime has stickers.
I´ve owned PM Prime. I now only own God Ginrai. He´s much better.

God Ginrai set including the re-issues have chromed firing weapons. Apex Armor Optimus Prime is basically the same except for the retooled non firing missile (chrome removed IIRC)

Powermaster Optimus Prime (1988) made in Thailand, different plastics used (God Ginrai's less metallic gray), non retracktable fists, no metal parts and lo and surprise.......longer smoke stacks (unchromed though)

good choice, Revoltech is pretty fun imo, bc you get maximum posebility of the fig.

I love Revoltech figures. In fact, it was Revoltech Optimus Prime and Megatron that brought me back into Transformers as an adult.

I think if there's a more wide range of Revoltechs that'd be pretty cool, or that they actually made bigger figures as well. :-?

DevastaTTor has a 20th Anniversary MiB Optimus Prime for $84.50 in the lower 48 states. It's a great deal.

As for a range of pricing for MP Optimus, it can vary greatly. MP-01, the original, can often run a few hundred dollars. If you want it, you might as well get the MP-04, which is MP-01 plus the trailer. It can be purchased for $200 or slightly less at stores like BBTS. The 20th Anniversary and DVD editions average around $100 on eBay from what I've seen.

I'm surprised Cybertron Optimus Prime never got a mention. Boiled down he's an updated RiD Prime designwise, with two big guns, and wings :D And he has a removable Matrix! Add the fact he combines with Sonic Bomber (I'm not calling him Wing Saber) for added flight and dual swords, and he's a real must.

Image

(Mind you, his wings go on top, the guns swing under the arms)
