I have many figures on my "to get" list, but there are two in particular that are high-priority targets;
Nucleon Quest Convoy http://www.tfu.info/2001/Autobot/NucleonQuestConvoy/nqconvoy.htm
and Fire Guts God Ginrai http://www.tfu.info/2002/Cybertron/FireGutsGodGinrai/fggodginrai.htm

Due to leaving my job and jumping into the firey pits of post-graduate education, I'm not shelling out any money for Transformers until after classes are underway.

What are your top "must-haves", and if you can't get them, is it due to lack of funds, or availability of the item, or the current price is just too high for your taste?

edit: I spelled "due" as "do" two different times in the same post. Yikes.

Nothing too ambitious for me.

At the top of my list are Alternity Vibrant Red Convoy, Premium Lemans Blue and Diamond Black Megatron, Champion Yellow and Pearl Red Bumble. I really love the Alternity line so far so I'd like to get these ASAP while their prices aren't too high(Vibrant Red is crazy pricey right now, though).

Followed by:

MP-01 or MP-04 and MP-05
Armada or Micron Legend Tidal Wave
Energon Omega Sentinel
Armada or Micron Legend Megatron
Energon Galvatron
Galaxy Force or Cyberton Galvatron

These are the "big ones" for me right now. There are many others but these are likely going to be the most expensive and some may be harder to find complete and in good condition if not MISB.

The main reason I'm holding off is I'm working this year to save up to return to school and I've used up my summer's budget for Transformers. I don't want to overspend and dig into my school savings.

I also have non-Transformers figures that are taking up my budget considerations. I'd like to get the MP King Exkaiser and MP Dragon Kaiser figures(the latter is hard to find but it's so worth it to get both to create Great Exkaiser). I'd also like to get a few of the GaoGaiGar figures and its variations but they are also not easy to find and really expensive.

At the top of the "Will get once I get money" list is Botcon Deathsaurus.

Followed by the rest of the Beast Wars figs that I don't have yet (which is a very small list actually);

Vice Grip

I suppose for me it will be RotF Devastator once the inevitable price drop hits. As soon as it hits $60 or less it will be mine.

Well, Alternity Megatron looks quite nifty.
And, my Ultra Magnus is kinda naked, so...

I want the leader class ROTF Starscream when he comes out. I am also looking to expand my G1 collection. I don't have a G1, Encore, or reissue Megatron yet, so that is #1 on the G1 list (if anyone is selling one at a decent price, let me know!).

Both are ending up pretty rare and I'm sure I'll jump on them when I get the chance. I'm working on Japanese Exclusives for A/E/C right now, so there will come a point when Magna Convoy DX is the only one left. I'm also working on getting minicons and I have the last five years of BotCon to contend with. Then it's on to fill in Beast Wars/Beast Machines. I've got a long way to go.

Are you talking about the Constructicon Devastator? In case you don't know: if you take that thing apart, you can only make separate parts into vehicle mode, there's no bot mode. And I think if you buy them separately, they don't combine to make the Devastator. Just a warning incase you don't know.

I was thinking about it, then my buddy told me and I felt like a deflated balloon. It should already be priced at $60 if that's the case. Way to go, Hasbro.

I'm eagerly awaiting original-style female transformers that actually transform, not statues.

It's probably only about 1/4 to 1/5 of the current value of my collection (counting replacement cost), so it's not too bad. I'm not planning on buying it only this year even. I hope that by 2012 I have all the BotCon 04-09 figures. Then it's time to start on Lucky Draws...

When I look at the list of Tranformers I'd like to have, I'm intimidated by the total cost. That's not even counting the Transformers that are planned for the future. That's also not including the other kinds of figures I'd like to have. Dang.

Near future (read: When I get my next check):

- Whatever random figs I don't have yet that happen to catch my eye (possibly Stratosphere, f'rex)

Distant future (i.e, someday)

Hmm, how I wish to own some Lucky Draws. Good luck on your collection.

The biggest mistake you can make as a TF collector is to say "I want that figure, but I'll wait and get it later." They don't stay in stores for long, and once they're no longer being stocked at stores, the price starts to climb, and they only go up, not down. So my philosophy on collecting is: Get it now, or get it never.

Yeah, except that a big reason many people don't get their dream item is lack of money. You can't get an item if you....can't get it.

True that. I had never seen the Grateful Dead & the last year they toured I said "I'll catch them next year." I swear Jerry Garcia died within that same month and I never got to see them.
