Defeat snatched from the jaws of victory!

Since the street date on the deluxe movie toys has been lifted, I've been looking everywhere for them. Today I checked out the K-mart next to where I work. No deluxes, but they did have the real gear toys out! So I grabbed four and took them to the check out. Guess what? They are locked out of the system until the original street date. I didn't really want to cause a problem, and I knew there probably wasn't anything that they could have done about it anyway, so I went home toyless again.

Oh well.

Same thing happened to me at Kmart today. they took Speed Dial 800 right out of my hand and walked away with him.

I had that happen with a mellon at the super market.

Even the produce manager had no price for me...

That's getting a little too personal and close for comfort. I could see asking you to leave the item, or put it down. But to actually grab it from you, right out of your hands? That's a big no no in my book.

Had it been me, and they had actually physically connected to me while taking it from me, I'd have decked 'em. I'm not kidding. You ask me, I'll comply. You touch me, I'm knocking you the f**k out.

I was grabbed by a teacher once so he could pull a book out of my hands....big mistake. I made sure I shoved him really hard...he went flying and landed on his knees. So yeah, a store employee willing to pull that...better be willing to take a good knock across the face.

I think you need a chillpill.

understandable if you said,
"Hey that is rude as hell, you must have been brought up with
no manners."

but to clock him is too much. if I was in the jury
though I can understand AND WANT to sympathize with you,
its too much.
do onto others...

Oh I agree it's too much, but I don't like people getting like that with me. It almost came to blows one time at a store with an employee.

I'm not exactly sure what happened, but for some reason a shelf display came crashing down (I don't know if it was because the metal shelf wasn't anchored correctly, or what, but anywho...) the stocker glared at me, pushed me out of the way and growled "MOVE, NOW!" I snapped. I spun around, got in his face and screamed like a banshee and said "DON'T EVER TOUCH ME AGAIN! DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME? GET THE FU**ING MANAGER! NOW! NOOOOOWWWWW!!!" he turned ghost white when he realized I was so pissed I was shaking. Somebody else got the assistant manager and I explained the situation and he apologized to me, but then yelled at me for using profanity (loudly I might add) in the store. I yelled at him too and reported him to the actual manager of the store. The store manager fully agreed with me and they fired the employee right there. He would've gotten away with being rude, but when it was actually on the camera that he shoved me....that was it. They couldn't have him doing that to customers. (makes me wonder, if the camera hadn't caught it...would they have fired him? Doubtful...)

It all stems from highschool. Being pushed around and having the sh** beat out of you on a constant basis doesn't make you easy to deal with. Which I'm not.

I don't like violence, I don't even like resorting to it. I'm more of a scream and yell kinda guy, but when you put your hands on me, the gloves are off.

I don't assault you, so you have no right to do it to me, that's how I approach it.

Yellings one thing, physical assault....I'll snap.

man I agree with you that there are some
BAD RUDE people out there.

but you know, I think there is a better solution
than being difficult. I'll let you know when I find
it, and I'm sure I would also win the nobel peace prize
if I did :P

I was picked on through out jr. high & highschool,
and I fought back many times to only feel like crap
afterwards, so eventually I got more efficient at dealing
with this sort of thing.
the whole class was at a retreat and I kicked a
wooden column support in a log house
with my shin and the thing came off.
it was little reminders like that which told the bullys
to back off this weird little art student.

Geekee1...That's NOTHING!!!! I just came from the shi*hole of all Wal-marts here in Phoenix AZ on 40th ST and Thomas (if you are out there Wal-mart management)! Not only is it the worst run and most over-crowded store in their chain...BUT I actually had Voyager Starscream, Ironhide, Ratchet, AND Blackout in my hands and ready to buy them when they scanned them and told me they had been "RECALLED"?!?! I tried to tell the clerk (and then the manager) that they were not recalled, but that they originally had a June 2nd street date. However, I told them that they shouldn't have been on the shelves ready to be bought if that was the case. After a few minutes of haggling them about it, my wife was giving me the evil eye so I had to let it go. ARRRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!! :-x :-x :-x :-x :-x :-x :-x I am sure that when June 2nd comes around, and they are actually up for sale, some little kids will get there before I do.

Guys, you do know that in the United States if it's a product sold by the store and it's on the shelf and/or in your hand by law they MUST sell it to you, right? You guys all should go back to your respective stores and get two of an item (say Real Gear Laserbeak) and go to customer service and demand to buy them. It may take a few minutes but they will override the register codes or ring it with a department misc code. It's the law. Got myself 2 IBeaks and a Speed Dial 800 that way on 2 separate days from the same K Mart. Make sure you have 2 the first time and only give them one. If they try grabbing it from you, quietly explain that you consider that assualt since you weren't stealing it. YOU MUST BE POLITE. Don't give them ANY reason to kick you out of the store.
I work at a customer service counter at a grocery store. I just told her:
"Look, I work at the customer service desk at the Giant up the road. It's not a slam against you or anything but I'm not leaving here without these. You're just doing your job but I can and will make this a big thing if that's how you want it. And we both know I'm leaving here with these. Do it the easy way, call your manager to approve it and get me out of your face. We'll both have a much better day if you do."
She called, he didn't even walk over to the desk to approve it and I got my first movie toys. A few days later when I walked over for Speed Dial 800 (after seeing the black and red one online and going "Ooh! Rumble & Frenzy!) she scanned it and went to tell me she couldn't sell it to be and said:
"Oh, its you again..." and overrode it herself.
Moral of the store be polite yet firm. You have every right to give them your money and they screwed up by putting it on the shelf. Just stay cool. No decking people.

We have the same laws in the UK. If a retail outlet has advertised or put on shelf any product for sale they then cannot stop you from perchasing it and if they try to just go home and in the phone book you will find the number for your local consumer authority. Give them a call they love dealing with stupid stores like that. I had to contact mine once when my local Tesco would not give me a refund on a damaged DVD. The customer care assistant refused and said they would only swap it as that was company policy. I did not want to swap it as a friend had lent me the film and I was not that impressed with it. (The trailer made it look better than it was). So I went home made the phone call and the consumer authority gave me a choice of taking the case there and then or going back to the shop with there reference number and telling them what would happen if they carried on with their thats our rules policy crap. I went back to the store explained the situation and low and behold there company policy faded away and I got my money back. The system works use it to your advantage don't get yourself locked up because they want to be Idiots.

Zod, Do you have any idea how I can loook this "law" up? I'm thinking about going back to that store and trying again tonight if I can prove that law.

I thought that there was a law like that. But I felt really bad for the poor lady who was running the register. There was somebody in front of me who held up the line. She thought that whatever she bought was on sale, but it was actually something different in the ad. And then when my stuff wouldn't ring up, the people behind me started complaining that there weren't enough cashiers. She looked pretty stressed.

Although I didn't want to, I can wait another two weeks for goodies. It's probably better for me anyway, as I'm saving as much as I possibly can for Botcon. I'm hoping for either a Brave Max or Fort Max.

That can be problem in the shipping and receiving end of the spectrum. I worked as a filler at a store and we are given skids and told to put them out. Now it could be that the box was on the skid, even thoughit may be marked, a filler, who is told to put it out may simply think that is what they are to do. There are folk out there who don't question orders.

You don't have to bring in any case work or anything. It is the law but, more importantly, it sounds like the law. Say it's the law and they'll believe you, give you your TF and get you out of the store as fast as they can. Remember, you are right and they screwed up.

Right, but how are they supposed to ring it up and at what price? We all know they are supposed to be about $20.00, but the store has to account for it somehow. And they aren't going to just do it if I just say "that's the law". I would have to pull the manager aside, explain the situation, and then show proof that the law for retail outlets in AZ actually shows that they have to sell it if it is on the shelves. So...does anyone have any leads as to where I can look for some proof?

Thanks!
