Stupidest Idea For A Transformer

Every once in a while some design or concept comes into my radar that makes me cringe, cry out in protest or want to boycott the corporation behind the decision.

When I was a kid, my eyes rolled into the back of my head when I first saw a sharkticon. C'mon, really? a robotic piranha with legs? what's so "robots in disguise" about that? That lasted a long time. It just didn't make sense. It was stupid.

Fast forward many years later and I see Optimus Prime transforming into a PEPSI truck, and then into a NIKE shoe?! Then last month I see... a MICKEY MOUSE Transformer?!!

So that being said, what's the stupidest Transformer design or idea you've seen?

Sharkticon wasn't on planet Earth, so it wouldn't need to fit the "Robots in Disguise" phrase. While the Pepsi, Nike, and Disney were all made to simplay make money.

In the main lines, one of the stupidest ideas (even lampshaded on the G1 comics letters pages)turned out to be one of the coolest Scout classes in recent years - Ejector, the toaster. :)

That little Gremlin of a Decepticon is a total 12/10 toy (just fun to play with).

And just be glad that me a by friends at work don't work for Hasbro, we have a running contest to come up with the silliest Fan Transformers toy we can think of. And yes one of the rules is that we have to make it, my last idea was a pair of chattering teeth named "Chatter". So be happy that Hasbro is the way it is, cause it can always be worse. (insert evil laughter here)

Pretender shells that look like monsters. Doesn't that defeat the whole point of the "Pretender" concept?

Kiss Players, way to ruin an otherwise great toy line.

*picks up "Action Masters" and adds "Robot Replica"*
The only non-transforming transformer I've ever bought is Robot Replica Frenzy, because his FAB is awful. I'd also include RotF Ravage, but he does actually transform... just into nothing.
(I just realised I also have a few Robot Heros, but I count them separately as they fit in with the Star Wars and Marvel ones.)

So I've got a good one.
RotF Ransack:
He's such an insanely stupid idea, a biplane transformer? There's not enough material to transform! And wing kibble is bad enough, but two sets of it?
But, this is honestly one of those times stupid REALLY works! I love the toy! It's awesome! It works so well, and he looks great with the rest of the line :D Also I can so see him and Jetfire having "grumpy old men" arguments :3

What about Pretenders who pretended to be vehicles? What's the matter, couldn't their own transformations be enough, they had to pretend to be another vehicle?

The Nike-formers are just stupid, especially since they are all left-footed;

Also, Star Wars Transformers... The coolest alt. modes are added, but they needed them to make them transform into actual SW characters... WHY??? They could have gotten a lot more money from the line if the figures would have transformed into Transformers characters.

If we're talking about Star Wars TFs I have to say something about Marvel Xovers. Why do these "superheroes" need an external shell (TF body) to fight?

Whoever wrote that entry is sort of a one trick pony eh? I dunno, the actual info about the character there seemed neat to me. I knew nothing of the character before now.

I must agree! The alt modes are spiffy but the bot modes are unforgivably terrible.
