Nemesis Prime (Convoy) Legit?

New to the forums, lifelong collector of transformers...

So, about 3 years ago I ordered what I thought was an exclusive bot-con figure (cheaper than the trip to Tokyo) and I am not entirely sure what I got. It is a Nemesis "Prime" (Convoy) figure. Now make no mistake, I meant to order said figure, but since I received the figure in the mail I have tried to find for price listings and such, and had been tracking the wrong toy.

I learned this by doing the unthinkable... (i opened the ... box :-$ )

The box is all black with Japanese lettering and an anime "drawing" of "Prime" with no view of the contents, and to my surprise (after 3 years) was the most amazing (and surprisingly tiny) black and teal nemesis prime figure, fully transformable with a scale trailer and all the "guts" that one would associate with the G1 toy. I couldn't stop, I had to transform it, and it looked more like G1 but about 4" tall, interchangeable heads and hands, the trailer, aside from being the alt-mode combat platform also tripled as an upright stand with full storage cleverly tucked away for the extra hands (4 sets in total). Does anyone know what I have and/or where it's from, because It is not the one from the botcon (pictured in the toy section on this site).

Welcome to the boards :) I'll leave the Universal Greeting to the rest.

First and foremost: not all black Primes are Nemesis Primes, especially if they're from Japan. They don't really like toys of bad guys, so instead they make toys of the good guys black (whatever sense that makes I wouldn't know) as special editions.

Judging from your descriptions I'm assuming you have the black version of Hybrid Style G1 Convoy. He came with the same accessories as the regular version (jetpack aside), but also includes a backpack with two rocket launchers, and two extra heads done in G2 Marvel Comic style.

Hybrid Style G1 Convoy looks about right, except for the color, and I did forget to mention that on the box, there is 1 English phrase, "Nemesis Convoy Deluxe" other than that it's all Japanese. All i have for a camera is my cellphone, 1mpx, I can try and get some decent lighting and upload some images later on (once I get home from work). Thanks for the help! :D

also if the figure "Hybrid Style G1 Convoy" is similar to the figure I have, did I get an accidental "upgrade" or did I get ripped off? (not that there is anything I could do about it now, after 3 years)

"Nemesis Convoy?" Sounds like you got a Knock-Off, as Nemesis Prime is usually called "Black Convoy" (or "Scourge" in Armada) in Japan. Now I'm really interested in the box shot. Chinese and Japanese look very similar, so a mistake is easily made.

That him?

If it is, then He's a nice figure. very small. but lots of detail and accessories.
It was an exclusive, so depending on how much you payed for it, you may have gotten a good upgrade.

Otherwise, I'm with Goldrabbit, on the Nemesis Convoy deal, sounds like a knock off.

Pics would help confirm this.

On second thought is says "Hybrid Style Black Convoy" on the box (I called my wife to have her look and double check). I was looking at the purchase order I saved in my email..

Still, I have not seen any pics of the exact figure I have on the internet, I will try (as I said in my previous post) to get a few decent pics uploaded when I get home from work in a few hours, however it may be until tomorrow...

thanks again

That is fully it... (not all the pieces shown in the link, but I'll assume they are just not pictured) and as far as "what I payed for it" $150 USD.

*edit* my figure has a few minor coloration differences, and I believe it has the Decepticon logo, but once again I'll double check when I get home. I should have studied it more carefully before posting, I was just in shock as it was not the bot I thought I had purchased.

Well, looks like another mystery solved :) And $150 is good (it's the real deal, trust us), considering he was exclusive to an online retailer. Considering getting one myself...

Hybrid Style Black Convoy

Yup,that's right.

So you did get a pretty good deal after all.

Congratulations on your purchase.

So to sum up: Nemesis is an American term applied to balck Optimus Primes.
Takara always calls them Black, or Super Black in the case of the new Alternity Convoy. And they have been known to use "Scourge" for when they are evil.

That looks cool! Is the trailer just like the G1 trailer?

Pretty much.

Its got a couple of storage compartments for the hands and accessorieswhich obviously are not there in the G1 versin.

Also this thing is very small. Smaller than G1 prime.

That was a one-off instance, for Micron Legend (Armada). He was paired with a Mini-Con named "Sweep". Get it? Scourge and Sweep. ;) He did get a repaint of an Optimus Prime model kit for the Super Link line (Energon), but that's it. No more Scourges :P

Wasn't he Scourge for the US dub/release of RID too, or have I got myself confused :-?

That's why I keep US and Japanese names separate for the sake of my mental health, as they're named by different companies. Takara will never use "Scourge" again, they'll use "Black Convoy" instead.
And yes, he was called "Scourge" in RiD, but "Black Convoy" in Car Robot.

Right, I'm with you #-o

Scourge for Armada & Nemesis for ML, Scourge for RID, but B'Convoy for CarRobots. Thus Scourge has only been used once by each company, but for different series.

Is that right :HALUC:

Almost 8-}

As an aside, what is the state of play with Black MP-Prime, evil counterpart or a repainted Convoy a la Nucleon Quest?

À la Nucleon Quest, meaning he's not an evil clone. That's so yesterday ;) Alternity Convoy Super Black is a bit trickier to define. Toy-wise, he's still the good ol' Prime, but in the fiction he's (possibly) Universe Nemesis Prime.

THS-02 Hybrid Style Convoy is tied for my Favorite Transformer Ever (with Masterpeice Grimlock). He's not perfect in truck mode, but the bop mode and the trailer put him over the top.

Congrats on your score. I've been considering snagging the black version for some time now.

Care to share any pictures of yours?

I never realized he was called Scourge in Japan...I figured he was called Black Convoy. But it makes sense considering in the show Scourge/Nemesis Prime turned out to be Sideways.

Unfortunately for me, I have Micron Legend Scourge, but the mini-con is Run-Over which belongs to Armada Nemesis Prime.

After the NC State fair is over, and the dealers come back, I'm going to see if he has the mini-con that comes with ML Scourge. I can let another toy use Run-Over.

For one, the differences are minor ML Scourge has gray.silver parts, instead of the tan parts that Armada Nemesis Prime has. Sweep is colored the same as Over-run, which is used by Bendy Armada Prime, but where the blue stripe is, the stripe is purplish pink. there is no decepticon symbol on ML Scourge either, and the head is darker with a slightly darker mouth piece. Both are awesome, but I never thought I would find ML Scourge for $10.

Sorry for the late response, I ended up being busy all weekend and never got around to taking pictures. The only camera I have right now is 2.0 megapixel cell phone camera. If that's OK, I can take some pics and post them up tonight (as I have actually checked that I have nothing going on tonight, which I neglected to check for the weekend).

There aren't a lot of photos of this figure available and I want to do the figure justice with some good shots.
