How do you display your collection?

I'm in sort of a loss as to how to display my figures. I started off by series then by character. I have oddball figures that throw both of those ways off for me. So I'm wondering how others display their figures just for some ideas.

I'm not the best one to answer this lol

I'm almost a straight Gen 1 collector, so different series and such do not affect me. Kind of have a Transformer corner where I have a small 3 shelf deal and boxed T-Formers that fit on, above and near it to kind of build a pyramid shape into the corner of the room.

Also have a dresser with a couple Masterpiece figures and my Palisades statues on it. The rest are boxed in my closet and my loose originals are stored away.

Active house shopping is under way, so I should have my own automobile/Johny Lightning/Transformer room to do as I please somewhere in the near future

I have 1 4-tier baker's rack style shelf devoted to TFs.

The top level is MP & Alternators

Next is my "classics" Autobot collection. Though anything that can pass for a G1 character can be in here. i.e. Energon Downshift for Wheeljack, TFA Blur, and a custom Star Saber from an Energon Storm Jet & Wing Saber

Next Classics Decepticons. Same deal as for the Autobots, mostly calssics, but with Energon Galvatron, a custom Shockwave, Music label Soundwave etc. in there.

Finally is my "rotating" shelf that holds the TF line of the year. For 2007 it had the first movie toys, then I had TFA stuff there, right now it houses the 2009 movie line. (Though I really want to bring back my TFA stuff)

My G1 collection as well as stuff rotated out from the 4th shelf are packed away in the basement.

I have three 6' bookcases with them crammed in on each shelf except the bottom. The bottom shelf is where I toss random parts (usually remnants of Knockoffs I scavenged for parts on a mod), "off-brand" figures that don't look good, and the boxes with all the cyber-planet keys and random guns and missiles.

I -TRIED- to segregate the shelves by series (G1, Movieverse, Cybertron, Classics, Animated, Special (Titanium / Masterpiece / Music Label etc), one-offs, etc), but certain shelves just got too full, even when I used multiple shelves for them. So for the most part it's segregated, but newer purchases just fill up the few remaining empty spots on the shelves.

I turned off signatures in my forum settings. It's too hard to find the actual comments in a thread when you have to find them hidden between massive signature blocks.

Once I build my new shelves in the basement, I will group them by major characters first. I have about 50 characters with 3 or more different versions (e.g. Optimus Primes from G1, G2, Energon, etc.). Those all get grouped with their alternate-universe selves.

The rest of the collection gets grouped by series- Energon Armada, movies, etc.

Primes/Primus on one shelf, Autobots on one shelf, Alternators with Classics versions in front of them on the nest shelf, and cons on the last shelf.

Kind of like they are all set up for a class picture.

Mine are divided by series. For things like the Movie line they are subdivided into large scale and small scale and these are subdivided into Deceps and Autos, unless they're having a fight!.

I also have a shelf for OPs and Megs that don't fit elsewhere. For example, ROTF leader OP is with voyager Ironhide and delux BB etc and 07 Movie leader OP is on the OP/Meg shelf. THS-02 is there with Revoltech Megs cos they don't fit anywhere else.

Primus and Armada Unicron (and the two other Unicron's I've made) are on a shelf together cos they don't fit anywhere else. So really they're on the godbot shelf.

I display them by line (ex-Classics/Universe, Movie, Masterpeice) on two 50-shelf units that I got from Target. One shelf is downstairs for all the current stuff (Classics, Movie, Animated). The other shelf is upstairs for everything else (Masterpeice, Titanium, Alt./Binaltech, G1).

ROTF toys, Energon Megatron, and Voyager Leo Prime on my dresser, Deluxe Universe Sunstreaker on a small shelf, six Robot Heroes on another shelf, and the rest of my toys shoved in my box until I choose to take them out and transform and/or play with them.

I don't have much space in my room, cuz I share the room with my 3-year-old sister.

Having just moved into a new house, and having to rip my old shelf display down, I'm now faced with a similar problem of how to set my transformers and other miscellaneous items up.

Here's a work in progress of where some of my movie figures are going

Ha! That'll probably look cool when there are actually TFs on there!

AS my house is very small and I don't have a particularly large collection at the moment I usually just display 3 or 4 figures at a time in my living room. (The rest are stored away).

I usually try to match figures, such as displaying Starscream, Skywarp and Thundercracker together, but in all honesty it's usually comepletely random and just whichever bots I fancy messing about with!!

I have a room I keep mine in, and I have them grouped by series. I too faced similar problems about placement of figures, especially when it came to the whole "Universe" line. I used to have them scattered but now I have all figures I consider "Universe" in 2 bookcases, this includes Botcon toys. The bookcases came from Target and I bolted 4 together to make a corner unit. (see pictures) The other thing I found useful was the CD/DVD shelving units. I have my G1 and Classics on them, the only drawback is that the shelves are only 7in deep, which makes it great for small spaces but also limits what you can display on them. Everything else is on wooden shelves all over the room. I am often asked how I display my seekers - Usually I have them mounted on the back of the case to use up the dead space and to create a sense of movement in the display. I use the twist ties that comes with the figures and a thumbtack. (again see pictures) viewtopic.php?f=206&t=57545

Mainly by subset and faction. I have the Decepticon Gestalts together etc. Now most of my Megatron's and Galvatrons are also displayed together.

Dude, you are in for the treat of a lifetime!
There is nothing like having your own toy room.
A peaceful place where you can just lay in the middle of the floor and gaze up at four walls of colorful, towering plastic, like the skyline of some wondrous metropolis!
Good luck in your search! :D
