The $120 hypothetical

I've been collecting Transformers for years, at least 2 decades and hardcore for about 8 years. I recently have had to take a break because of law school and other assorted costs. However, I have manage to save approximately $120 for Transformers purchases. After picking up ROTF I instantly knew it was time to spend it. I have all of the Takara Resissues, Alternators, almost all of G1, all Cybertron, Engergon, Armada, and Classics (though not all of Universe). I have no ROTF, and only the Dinobots, Shockwave, and Leaders Bulkhead and Megatron in Animated. How would you spend it, where, and why? I am turning to people I respect and this seems like the best forum to discuss this. Here is a quick look at my current collection which has been neglected since last x-mas. http://community.webshots.com/user/ruthlesscynic
Thanks!

1. Long Haul - $20
2. Sideswipe - $10
3. Skids - $10
4. Prime - $40
5. HA Skids - $30

Those are the toys that I find to be the most interesting. I actually like Leader Megatron as well. There's something very tactile about him that's appealing.

Alternately, you may just want to get the following:

1. Leader Prime
2. HA Bumblebee
3. HA Sideswipe
4. HA Skids

They could be considered to be in scale with each other and would all display well. You'd only be short $10 for the 4 of them and if you got Prime on sale, that would make up for it.

I'd go with:

1. Long Haul $20
2. Sideswipe $10
3. Jolt $10
4. Leader Prime $40
5. Ransack $8
6. Thrust $10
7. Wait for Bludgeon $20

I wouldn't spend it on bayverse shite. I'd go to BBTS, get Fansproject(?) trailer for Classics Prime, and Encore Omega Supreme. Hell I just spend nearly $200 on G1 knockoffs (Shockwave, Springer and Gnaw)

A lot of good suggestions, I saw the Wal Mart deal and will probably pick up all 3 Leaders. I am leaning toward the HA Bumblebee as well. I do have the original Omega Supreme which is fantastic.

That's rude. Saying things like that opens the conversation up to other things and responses like...

Knockoffs? I suppose they're fine...but they wouldn't go in a real collection of Transformers toys.

See how we get all kinds of demeaning when we let our little biases carry through in unchecked ways?

I mean, it's obvious that the topic creater wants and/or likes the movie figures. Don't try to crap in his cereal because you don't. Offer up some valid reasons why the toys aren't any good or keep it to yourself.

You could get 12 Wheelies at Walmart.com for $10 a pop.

I know I would.

And write it off on your taxes as a donation to all of humankind.

If this quote wasn't so long, I'd make this my signature.

The last paragraph about crapping in the cereal sums things up nicely. Why don't you just quote that?

As somebody said before me, don't waste it on RotF, except for Jetfire and Ravage. And get an Animated Ultra Magnus, they are still 20$ on robotkingdom.

LOL, best answer ever.

No one's suggesting Animated figures? Granted, they're pretty hard to find nowadays, but if you're interested in more:

Animated -

Skywarp/Starscream (your preference, Skywarp looks more G1) ($20)
Wreck-Gar ($20)
Voyager Prime ($20)
Blurr ($10)
Soundwave ($10)
Wait for Rodimus ($10)
Wait for Arcee ($10)
Wait for Cybertron Mode Ratchet ($10)
Deluxe Bumblebee or 2 FABs of your choice ($10)

Of course, I'm a fan of both lines...

ROTF -

Leader Prime ($40)
Long Haul ($30)
Thrust ($10)
Sideswipe ($10)
Sideways ($10)
Soundwave ($10)
Ravage ($10)

If I were you, I'd go for Animated, actually, just because you've already got some, and ROTF will still be in stores for awhile. Grab the last of the Animated figs you want shile you still can. But only if you really like them, of course.

For what it's worth,

ROTF:

Longhaul

Ravage

Leader OP

Sideswipe

HA Bumblebee

Sonar (upcoming 2010)

Leader Starscream (upcoming Q2 2010)

Rampage (for no other reason than because I personally like "centaur-esque" mecha designs)

Animated:

Arcee (not yet released)

Voyager Starscream (all good reviews, so far)

Wreck-Gar
