Now I know we have seen this figure before, but I dont remember seeing it in Robot mode, just the alt mode. There is one on ebay now with robot pics. Possible repaint or Custom Job. I sure as hell don't know.

The paint deco is too clean to me to be a custom job. And it is definitely not a photoshop either. Aron Archer from Hasbro has admitted that Hasbro does redecos to bolster the offerings in their core TF lines. Repaints I would have to say are eventual realities even for the movie line.

Have to admit though, I'm not really a fan of the movie figures being done in their G1 counterpart colors. I accepted the movie being a different continuity than G1 or at least a rebooted continuity. Seeing movie figures in G1 colors just throws it all off for me.

I suppose I won't be very popular with some fellow fans by saying that but I guess I just want the G1 universe I grew up with to be left alone. It was a tresured part of my childhood and I prefer it not be changed. Granted producing movie figures in G1 colors is not changing my childhood per say but to me G1 is G1 and I like it that way. Does the fact that I think the Classics are fantastic updates to the G1 characters make me a hypocrite? :-?

That maybe true. I just like the movie universe being seperate from the G1 universe. That's why I'm having a hard time taking to the movie figures in G1 decos. But it doesn't mean the G1 deco movie figures won't be a hit with everyone else. Of course being the almost completist that I am I may grow to like the G1 deco movie figures in the end. :P

I'm 99.9% sure this is the real deal. I don't know if this will be released as a straight repaint Ratchet or if it will officially be the Voyager class Red Alert. I do know that unless lime green Ratchet kicks all kinds of a$$ in the movie, I'm saving my money for the repaint.

I did read that there's gonna be a prime repaint in G1 colours, so maybe we've got G1 style ractchet...or red

I posted this and the G1 coloured screamer weeks ago, as far as i am aware they are test shots which didnt make it-the last ones for sale were really really expensive!

personnally i think the movie colours work better with the movie designs.

This is the color I wish the movie version had been, since an ambulance fits the character.

However, since it is not that color in the movie, I see it as an unnecessary, albeit better, repaint as far as my collection goes.

I tend to latch on to original story characters.

Wait, so these aren't going to get the mass release treatment? That is every ounce of lame I can imagine.

There was a product listing way back that listed a Voyager Red Alert, if I remember correctly. (I didn't find it, but the search never works for me...). I know there was a Red Alert designed for the movie that was scrapped for Ratchet, and it was a red & white ambulance with a more 'traditional' robot head. I assumed that the Red Alert figure would just be a repaint of the Ratchet mold.

I liked them better, anyway.

Thats why I said that it has been shown before but not in robot mode as I recall.

you know what, i was thinking about this very subject this morning on the ride into work, and I saw in the HOV lane, a Fire/Rescue Ford Explorer, in White whit a Red stripe runnin down the side that said Fire Rescue on it!! Iwas like damn, that would be an awesome Ratchet color scheme instead of Puke Green.. or Emergency green, which if you see Puke green, I'm sure its some kind of emergency...

I must agree. Making G1 out of the movie designs is not a good match to me.

As far as I know the G1 paint scheme Ratchet, Starscream, and a possible Jazz figures are getting released. I've seen at least six auctions for the first two, and though haven't seen the third I've heard that it exists.

You can look at the figures and tell its not a proto or standard test shot. Those are full run figures, and its highly unlikely they'd scrap them once they'd gone that far in development.

Of course they could also be exclusives of some kind as well. Really wouldn't surprise me if they turned out to be Takara only Toys R Us figures or something.

I hope you're right. The G1 color schemes/molds for Ratchet and Screamer are two of my favorite looking figs from the movie line. No big deal if I have to import them...I'd just like to have them.

I'm not buying green Ratchet. If they release this one, I definitely will (this one, not the green one).

We did see this Ratchet repaint in robot mode, as I remember discussing how his head was painted.

Bizarrely, though, I can't see any robot mode pictures on this particular auction.

It looks okay, only problem is that the vehicle mode isn't an Ambulance. They can right that on the side, but it doesn't change the detailing. The back end is a giant toolbox, which honestly makes sense considering he's a medic for robots, but its in no way a human ambulance. The white and red does look sharp, but the green is actually more realistic, I see vehicles like that in that neon green fairly often here in the city.
