So did you drop your preorder with BBTS, well I did so I could get it early and slightly cheaper from TFSource.

Very simple bag style so you can store it in your CC's box.


The instructions for how to use the upgrade kit. Note: Those who have the CC '08 set cannot store the gun in cannon mode!!


Besides the missiles, you get three faceplates to use. Why more than the other '09 City Commander set? Because when you remove the original faceplate from the '08 CC set, the faceplate will probably get slightly scuffed up because it's slightly wider then the ones that come with the upgrade kit. It was very difficult to remove the faceplate, and it won't go back in. However with the CC upgrade kit you get a newer version of the '08 CC faceplate, but the eyes are painted white. There is another faceplate like that of the Shadow Commander set, but painted white and gray, and the last one is the open mouth faceplate for a 'OMG' look on CC. The nicks removed the paint from the first faceplate, and they are red, so the original mold color is red but painted silver.


Ok, the missile launchers attach by notches that slide in the top part of the CC trailer for those who own the '08 CC set, like I have. I assume on the '09 set, they attach thru with the peg ends. Very slick engineering Fans Project!!!

Now the gun.....

First, you cannot use the rifle mode when the armour is attached because the gun won't fit. So to change it to cannon mode you slide the bottom of the gun out, pull the back of the gun down, and flip it over and....




Final thoughts:
Impressed 100%. They could have even charged more, but the little add-on does a lot. The plastic is not cheap at all. Though the missiles feel loose a bit, they are sculpted well. I love the faceplate that resmbles the mask, a little weary of the open mouth plate, love the slightly retooled replacement. Also, the missiles will come out, but they don't launch or shoot out. There is no type of launcher spring in them at all. No biggie, let's hopr they do one for the Shadow Commander set too, maybe a new gun and different sword. I think they will. Thanks FP.

I totally agree with the review! Just got my CC 09 with the upgrade. Phenomenal product! Anybody out there with a "naked" Ultra Magnus, do yourself a favor and grab the City Commander stuff

I'm glad I ordered this (I kept my BBTS pre-order cause it's going into my POL until December anyway) mostly because I am one of the few people that hate the BFG. It just looks dumb, imho. The new gun and missiles, along with the original smokestack gun is plenty for me!

WOW!!! I really like this alot! thank GOD that a friend of mine has found a Prime and Magnus set and it will be in around December and I have the City Commander set ordered with the weapons upgrade and it will be here around December too!! Can't wait....

I'm really looking forward to this, but it's going to sit in my growing Pile of Loot for the next few months. My wife will kill me if that shows up. I'm sitting on a few hundred dollars worth of stuff at this point.

Should be getting my set next week. I'm thinking that I may just swap out the open mouth face on my Powered Commander so that it would match the original action shot we saw of him...

I hope these don't sell out before I can get one.

Man, BBTS is taking forever to get these in! lol, not that it matters, since it has to sit in my PoL anyway. But I'm anxious to complete my City Commander.

for those who got this item, which comic did you get? I got a pwoered comander version of the comic (so it's colored red in the comic) w

I got my set last week and though I've figured out where everything goes in the different modes, the instructions are so dark I can't make out where to put the transforming shotgun/rifle during vehicle/trailer mode. I was hopeful when I found this forum, but unfortunately the pics aren't coming through due to bandwidth being exceeded. I'm guessing I have the '08 trailer as there are no holes on the sides of the trailer for the missile launchers' pegs.

Any help on this is appreciated.

Well, I have the '08 City Commander set. I only bought the upgrade. The price maybe a tad cheaper, but it's in stock for a while. I guess BBTS is having problem with the distributor. I still shop at BBTS though.

I got mine about 2 weeks ago. overall I like it, but in alt mode the missile launchers don't stay on that well, especially on the left side. one minor jolt of the trailer and they come right off. I have 08 CC. anyone else see that problem?

Yeah, I have pretty much the same thing happening with mine, although mine appears to be a bit more stable than yours. Oh well, I consider it an acceptable trade-off. You could always apply a little clear nail polish remover to the missile launcher tabs so they fit more tightly into the slots on the trailer...

Oh, and it IS possible to attach the rifle to the '08 trailer--if I remember correctly, I transformed the gun into the Ultra Magnus gun mode and the handle fits quite well into one of the holes on the back left of the trailer (as you look at the trailer front). Not a bad side-mounted cannon, actually.

Finally, as my sig says, I also highly recommend Reprolabels' sticker set for this trailer and UM--the trailer especially benefits, IMO, from the addition of red striping and some nice little accent pieces in the back. I'll try to throw some pics on here of all of the above if I get a chance this weekend...
