And he had two left hands. Has this happen to anyone else? I'm glad i finally found it but would Toys R Us accept an exchange for this issue?

Yes.

Exchange it.

Definitely exchange it.

No double left hands or anything like that to report with mine, although the missile falls out of the launcher very easily due to the lack of a spring and moving trigger mechanism. Is everyone else's like that?

I once returned a reissue Grapple that came with reissue Smokescreen's stickers. I'd return Perceptor for something like two left hands.

So I picked this guy up this evening and he's pretty cool...I remember selling the original to another kid in grade school for some reason, not sure why I did such a thing cuz, like I said, he's pretty cool... For a G1 fig he's half-way, just a little bit, complex. A little more involved might be the better way to put it.

Anyhow, potential minor issue with mine and curious if it's a common thing. The chest piece that folds up (the kinda/sorta Soundwave like part,) does it fold up evenly on both sides? I know it doesn't fold up completely flush to his chest in bot mode either way, but on mine it sticks out a little more on his left side...or if you were above looking straight down on him from a profile vantage point his chest would be kinda like this / instead of this |
Not quite that drastic, but hopefully you catch my drift. It's probably not annoying enough to take back and exchange, but I would be a little less bothered by it if that's just how they typically are...

Hmm, seems like yours is a little off, mine doesn't have that problem. On mine, the blue bracket that holds the scope doesn't stay on on both sides very well.

Not really, unfortunately, I think that's just the way it is. :(
