In Box Images of Scout 2 Packs "Windy City Chase" and "Road Rival Showdown"

We finally get to know the names behind the faces. The-Arker dishes out images of a couple of Scout 2-packs, the "Windy City Chase" and the "Road Rival Showdown". The Windy City Chase is composed of a Wheelie-like repaint of Dead End, called Slap Dash. He fights against the Decepticon Trenchmouth, a repaint of Knock Out. The Road Rival Showdown incorporates a battle between the Autobot Beachcomber, a repaint of Dune Runner and the Decepticon Deadlift, the Gobot Spoons like repaint of Dirt Boss. Check them out in the pictures below.

Everything SLAP DASH does, he does in a hurry. Not because he's fast, though he is, but more because he's lazy. Careful planning just isn't his thing. Unfortunately, TRENCHMOUTH is not the sort of DECEPTICON you want to fight without some foresight. He may be a filthy, poorly tuned road hog, but he's also a smart, canny fighter.

There was a time when neither BEACHCOMBER nor DEADLIFT were interested in warfare. BEACHCOMBER spent his time exploring the barren wilderness of remote planets, while DEADLIFT enjoyed the function of transporting deactivated Decepticons to the smelting pools for repurposing. Now, however, the war has drawn both of them into its grip, and the two find themselves in a close-quarters fight to the finish.

It's pretty obvious that Beachcomber is an update-slash-homage to the original minibot, and Slap Dash has long been identified as a Wheelie homage. And if Deadlift is an homage to Spoons (which, pretty clearly, it's meant to me - just like Fracture was an homage to Crasher)... I almost hate to say this...
...is it possible that Trechmouth is, in some way, an homage to Scooter?

Wish they had saved the slapdash name for another classics mirage repaint.
G1 Slapdash was a favourite of mine as a child.

Man... when Hasbro gets the repaints right, they just can't connect the names properly. I know the names of figures is more of a personal connotation, but it's just so odd when the names aren't the same. Even if it's a copyright problem, they could just call it Autobot "" or Decepticon "". Other than that tiny problem, no complaints. Great stuff here. Just wish they'd make some nicer repaints for the bigger classes... (RotF Ravage as SG Ravage/Glit please..)

Well ive been renaming every other figure out of this line so far guess i wont be stopping with these. Im a fan of all these molds and the paint used in these repaints. Defiantly getting the windy city one i might get the road rival one not sure yet. Wish hasbro would start naming their repaints correctly. We all know what they're going for with em so why not just name them that way?

Sucks that we need to buy a 2-pack to get Beachcomber. The forklift is not at all interesting imo.

First of all, it's
trademark! Not copyright.

Secondly, I disagree with the whole "adding "Autobot" or "Decepticon". Not only does it look kind of tacky, it's also possible not even then the name clears legal. Hey, that's a good question for the Q&A of next month: "If a certain name can't clear legal due to unavailability, why don't you just stick "Autobot" or "Decepticon" in front of it?"

And I thought we've established that Slap Dash was an homage to the Micromaster Greaser:

Having said that, nice new names for nice repaints

A BIG GIGANTOR pass on the windy city chase set. eh, cant stand the deadend/nightbeat mold, but the Road Rival showdown looks very good!! I'm liken Beachcomber and Deadlift alot!! So, about the price for these, i'm predicting between $14.00 and $18.00 each for the sets ?

It's the same figure. The name "Spoons" came from the GoBot the colors are modeled after, and was by no means confirmed. Also, at the time it was not known that he was to be in a versus set.

These look great and I can't wait to get them.
Trenchmouth sounds like some nasty Cybertronian STD.

Beachcomber - I feel better about using that name on this mold (I thought it was too well armed for a eco-beatnick) with it being characterized as a 'war changes people' sort of thing.
Deadlift - Good choice on an alternate name to go with a neat visual homage. Sounds much more Decepticony.
Slap Dash - G1 Wheelie in colors, Slapdash in name and persona. Cute. But I only really like the original Deadend/Detour version of this mold, who the creepy crawly look actually fitted.
Trenchmouth - .. fail on the name. Sounds like some weird mesh of Road Rocket and Road Pig for personality. Decent repaint, but I already have the first two versions of the mold.

Yeah Slapdash was one of my fave transformers that I had when I was growing up. Its great that theyve got the bio right, shame about the colours and alt mode. Couldnt they of at least painted him mostly yellow and blue, in a way that wouldnt get people confused with ROTF Nightbeat or repaint him as classics mirage

I'm definitely getting Road Rival Showdown. I just hope it doesn't cost more than 2 separate scouts and isn't a store exclusive. I would get Windy City Chase for the Wheelie homage, but I really don't like the head molds on either of those figures.

I'll definitely end up with all of these. That said, I wish the Nightbeat/Slapdash mold had the head remolded. Love the Nightbeat version's car mode and colour scheme but the head is so unsuitable for Autobots.
Also I wish they gave Beachcomber a higher intelligence rating.
Have to say in common with a few others, looking at Slapdash, I'm not a fan of matching old names up with colour schemes of other old characters.
However, I do like the ROTF Basics, especially the fork lift and will definitely get them. Can't wait for Breakdown to come out, especially looking forward to his repaints.

Seconded. Deadlift is cool, but I have Dirt Boss and I don't need another forklift.
Also, did anyone make the connection that Deadlift (besides the Spoons homage) looks like the 2007 game forklift drone?

Stupid ass names aside, these are pretty neat looking repaints. I may have to grab these if I ever see them, and really, the names aren't that bad. I was just going along with the herd. Deadlift is a great sounding name, but Trenchmouth, that's kinda lame. Eh. Still like these figures.

I'll probably pass on Slap Dash and Trenchmouth, but the Beachcomber/Dead Lift set is a must-buy for me.

No, I don't think we've "established" that at all. I still say it looks much more like G1 Wheelie.
