Sometimes I feel like I'm going to die until a preorder gets shipped to my door but when I get it, open it...it's like no big deal no more. A recent example was the Sunstorm reissue. I couldn't wait for Sunstorm to come out and now it's like I've almost forgotten that I have it. It's starting to get that way with another order that I've placed that's taking forever to get here. I can't wait for them to get here but I bet I'll be nonchalant in about a week or so after I have em.
Anyone else experience this?

Happens sometimes with me, although I can't think of a specific example right now. The anticipation just gets so huge, and then the figure gets there and you go "Oh." Not that the figure itself is disappointing, you've just built up the anticipation so much in your mind. It's kind of a bad side of the addiction aspect of the hobby, I think. I tend to get pretty obsessed with things for awhile.

Armada Scavenger: I'm an Armada Completionist.. or atleast try to be. It`s my favorite toy series. I couldn't wait to get Takara Scavenger because I knew it was superior to Hasbro's. Damn, I don't care who's the company behind Scavenger, his Robot Mode will always be awful.
Armada Wheeljack: Everyone was hyping about how Wheeljack was the best figure in the line, blah blah blah. I also liked the minicon, Wind Sheer, that came along with him. Eventually when I got the figure, it wasn't crazy awesome compared to the rest of Armada. It was just average. There is a plentiful amount of figures from Armada that are better. Perhaps I just overhyped it myself.... there's always Takara's version, Rampage... that will be a nice import.
Universe Acid Storm: Never had the Classics Screamer mold in my collection before. Maybe it was just overhyped, because it was average at best.
Cybertron Sideways: I wanted it after the release of the Botcon Sweeps. Perhaps that overhyped it because, the figure just isn't as good as it was made out to be. Maybe it's cause I never watched Cybertron. Maybe because I don't like 'ween colors. Either way, there's alot of Cybertron Deluxes that are better.
RotF Mudflap: I got Skids prior.. I wanted to complete the twins. Skids wasn't the best, but had some pretty nice parts. Got Mudflap... dear god awful.
Other than that, I tend to like every single figure in my collection. Even Armada Sideswipe. Yeah, I'm generous.

I would have to say Armada Overload and Cybertron Supreme Starscream and deluxe thundercracker. For overload, I loved how he had those shoulder panels that revealed those molded missile launchers, and could combine with Armada jetfire and Prime, but after about a month, i was "...why did i get him again?"
Starscream and thundercracker fell off my interest list after realizing that most of the transformers I bought from Cybertron line...I bought out of boredom, and these two happened to be prime candidates for the list.

2007 Movie Jazz: He was my favorite character in the movie, and I was really looking forward to displaying him in all sorts of crazy kung fu poses that befit his character...until I brought the toy home and discovered his utter lack of leg articulation.

Thank you! Glad I'm not the only one... The mold has grown on me some, but I find it highly overrated.

Cybertron Metroplex. I really, REALLY thought I could get over the alt mode, but alas...
I think that I shall feel the same way soon about Cybertron Menasor, if I can find a cheap one.

ROTF Sideswipe. He looked awesome in all the photogalleries, but with his legs and wheel feet he's an ordeal to stand up.

Same here. I thought SS was great when I bought him cos he was my first vehicle TF since G1 but he doesn't have great articulation. I like the transformation though.
My answer to the question:
Classics Jetfire. Rave reviews for a piss-poor figure. Hard to stand up, terrible articulation.
ROTF leader Megs. Actually, I wasn't dying to have him cos I knew I wouldn't be very impressed but even so, I was SEVERELY disappointed!
Universe Sunstreaker. I don't understand why I'm not crazy about him - I love pose-able TFs and he has better articulation than almost any other but I'm just not excited by him.

Armada Cyclonus and Cybertron Buzzsaw. I love the character designs(I love copter bots too) but the toys ended up being too bricky for my liking. However, I still like them, just not as much as I want to.

Agree that this too is an overrated figure. Certainly glad I picked this one up at retail rather than overspend for it on the secondary market or for the Henkei version.

Take that UrbanDictionary.com.
Mudflap's Titty Whiskers and weird back kibble really ruin the figure.
Also, I really loved the look of Blazemaster, but when I finally got him, he was nothing but disappointment.

I'm actually the reverse with Acid Storm. When I first bought Classics Starscream, I was very disappointed. I love the G1 and Robotmasters Seekers and felt Classics was too blocky.
However, I am a Seeker nut and ended up with Ramjet and later, Acid Storm. Maybe I was just glad to get a new seeker character but I love Acid Storm. I've since gotten Henkei Starscream and I've really turned about on this mold. I still think Classics Starscream's colour scheme is kind of sickly. But it appears that colour scheme was putting me off.
Actually, another turnaround was reissue Megatron. I'd never seen favourable pics of him as a kid but he was always my favourite Decepticon. So when I saw his reissue over 6 years ago, I hummed and hawed, even rang my brother because I was feeling guilty about the 110euro price tag, but thanks to him, I bought him. Brought Megatron back to my flat and as soon as I opened him, all my reservations disappeared.
On topic:
G1 Skids - loved him as a kid but when I bought him as a reissue, I just didn't feel it. Maybe it was because I could have gotten him for a fiver as a kid but ended up paying 72 quid each for him and the other reissues. You guys should be glad you don't live in Ireland, we really get messed about over here.
ROTF Mixmaster
G1 Grapple
Cybertron Mudflap

I'd have to say that Alternators Nemesis Prime was kind of a let down. I remember ordering it and waiting what seemed like forever for the figure to get here. Being a Nemesis Prime/Scourge fan, I was really pumped about actually getting the figure in my hands. When it finally got here, I was a bit let down by the simplicity of the transformation and the fact that RID Scourge clearly outshined him. He's a good figure, don't get me wrong, but I expected a lot more from him (despite seeing the bad reviews for Alt Prime).
On the flip side, I've had figures that I just ordered on a whim and found that I really like them. One example (or should I say five?) is the Terrorcons. I won a Terrorcon lot off Ebay about 2 weeks ago for 20 bucks. I figured they'd be in horrible shape, but I just thought the auction was too cheap to pass up. I get the figures and they're in pristine shape...and I actually love the molds. I had no anticipation for these figures at all and they're quickly becoming some of my favorite G1 toys (aside from Sixshot and Jetfire of course).

Well, I had only seen the robot mode of this particular mold from the front, and he looked pretty darn neat, even though it had a lens head. I got it, and not only did it constantly fall apart, it had a plunger poking out his back as long as he was tall.
How I hate thee, TFM Payload...

ROTF HA BB, I wanted him soooo bad! He was my favorite TF for about 3 days, but then, I started to like Leader Megatron better than him again. And I had to give him away!

Cybertron Soundwave.
Looked at images in the gallery and he looked so awesome (and I'm a big Soundwave fan).
Looked for him near the end of the run of Cybertron when they were mainly out of the stores, so it took a while to find. I was so excited when I spotted one left at TRU, and then when I opened and messed with him, he was just such utter crap. I transfromed him once and never touched him again.
Energon Dinobot combiner with Grimlock & Swoop.
Bought it mostly to have a cool Swoop for my Classics display. I spent months tracking them on ebay to find a decent price. When I finally got a set, they were less than ho-hum. Even the combined mode is lackluster.
Eventually I got a TFA Swoop, modded on a set of G1 Swoop wings (from a broken G1 toy). My custom Swoop looks great displayed with my Calssics, and the expensive Energon set sits in a dark corner of my desk.

Universe Tankor/Octane.
I just couldn't seem to find him at first, and then I got and opened him, blech.
He's for sale if anyone else wants to experience this!

I love Tankor. He ended up being one of my favorite U 2.0 figures. He's got decent posability, an innovative transformation, cool guns, and heavily reconfigurable shoulders. I don't like the claw gimmick. It would have been cooler as a riot shield. But, they already did that with Onslaught, so, oh well.
