Remember the Black and Green Energon Megatron repaint and the Red and Black Energon Optimus Prime repaint that were supposed to be alleged Target exclusives from a few years back?

Artist Dan Khana does! He did the original artwork for the packaging, and has now posted that on his Deviant Art page.

Seibertron.com member Razorclaw0000 has alerted us towards something very cool at DeviantArt. Artist Dan Khana has posted 3 very interesting pieces of of Energon Optimus Prime and Megatron. This artwork was meant to be the boxart for two Target exclusive repaints from the Transformers Energon line which eventually got cancelled. It was said that the Megatron was going to come with WST Soundwave while the Optimus Prime would have come with WST Optimus Prime, but we cannot confirm this.

The cancellation of these redecos amounts to some of my biggest disappointments over time with unreleased product.

That Megatron was the bee's knees.

Very cool artwork.

I like the colour schemes. It's too bad the repaints were cancelled as I would have definitely liked to get that Megatron repaint!

The Prime I don't see as a big loss, but that Megs is sweet.

Pitty. That Black and Red Prime looked really cool.

I think out of all the cancelled figures we've seen protos for, these are the ones I wanted the most, especially Megatron. Second are the Wave 5 Target Movie Basics from '07.

The Megatron redeco is pretty cool. Shame I could only really afford to get Scouts and Deluxes at the time... I would have really wanted that.

a lot. More than I care to admit, I had just had a large some of money dropped upon me and assumed that they were just like any other unreleased-as-of-auction-date and wanted them at any cost (to be first to own) similar to bludgeon. Much to my surprise, they never made it to an actual production run, their retail value is approximately 5.99 each, their actual value is unknown to me.

I would've LOVED that megs repaint. I'm actually hoping that Hasbro may still repaint him in that color scheme eventually and make him Thunderwing, with a new head mold of course. *crosses fingers*
