To Open or Not to Open? That is the question.....

Just got Takara MP-06 in the mail today. I am having a worse dillema that I thought I would when it comes to this figure. I bought it MISB, so it is absolutely brand spanking new. I want to open the damned thing so bad, but I thought about keeping it sealed also. I really don't know what to do. I don't plan on ever selling it, so the biggest part of me says "OPEN IT NOW!!". However, there is that other side saying "DON'T DO IT, FOOL!!!"
I am sorry to ask opinions on this matter, since it really just matters what I think in the end. But does anyone consider it unwise of me to want to get that sucker out? What do you folks think out there?

Well, if you don't ever plan on selling it, and you want to open it...sounds simple to me. OPEN THE SUCKAH!! I have some thing MISB, but I know that I want to keep them like that. But for the most part, I open 95% of my TF's.

Open it, but keep the box and all the inserts in good shape. That's what I'd do.

Unless your collection is MISB in general, the MP line seems kinda silly to keep MISB. You can't see the figure at all through the box and they can easily be repackaged as MIB. Unless you hope to make a profit on it in 20 years, not really a point in keeping it MISB.
And if you don't have another of the mold, you must open it and appreciate it!

Did you buy it to play with or display, if you did then crack that sucker open.
If you bought it to look at the pretty box than leave it as is.
Honestly I don't get the whole buy it and never open it, unless you fully intend to resell it later.

Do you even NEED to ask this question? GET OUT. NOW.
Kidding!
Open it, man, it's no fun staring at a box! Just keep the figure and packaging in good condition and you're fine.

It depends on why you collect. As everyone is saying, if you're thinking 'investment' you should keep it sealed. But if you want to collect for other reasons, you might consider opening it. Were I you, I'd go with the 'open it but keep all the materials'. It won't be as huge an 'investment' return to sell a MIB in 20 years as an MISB (but that sort of presupposes the Mayans were wrong, we haven't blown ourselves up with nukes, no rogue asteroid has destroyed the earth as we know it, etc). But it would still sell.
Pluses of opening:
You can play with it.
You can see if it's intact. I'm not casting aspersions on wherever you bought the item--I got a TFA Sunstorm that was missing a wheel, straight from Target!
You can play with it.
Packaging takes up a lot of space.
You can play with it.
HK, I play with all of mine. That probably makes me weird.

Free it from the plastic prison! (or paper, in case of Takara MPs

)
Well, in case you want to get the Hasbro version too, you might let it stay MISB.

In that event, I would keep the Hasbro one MISB because it makes for a nice display piece in package. Other than reselling or if your whole collection is MISB, there's no good reason to keep it sealed...IMO anyhow.

If you can decide, then give it to someone who can!
Always err on the "OPEN IT" side.

It is going to get opened when I get home from work. I was kind of feeling like it anyway, but I needed a nudge. I definitely got that! Thank you folks.

Though this sounds silly, it's a serious question for those who do MISB collecting: Don't you ever get so bored/intruiged/drunk that you can't resist cracking a few of the suckers open?
The only times I've never not instantly opened a figure is if I get several at once and I wanna savour each experience.

I'm just imagining "the morning after" of an MISB collector who had too much to drink...hung over, on the floor, and surrounded by breached boxes, no longer pristine. Plastic ties and plastic or styrofoam prisons scattered about. Transformers reveling in their newfound freedom. Shame and regret now forever plaguing the collector.
WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?!?!?
...
Personally, I only keep figures MISB if they're duplicates and I only have four duplicate figures/sets. I don't know how MISB collectors can resist opening a box up and enjoying a figure! It seems like a torturous existence, hehe.

Haha. It's funny that I even worried about it. I really don't know why it was such a problem for me to crack it open-I have absolutely no reason to keep it it the package. Like what was said earlier, I only have duplicates that are unopened.......so that tells me I just need to get all the MP figures, open them up and then get duplicates!

Ok! It is opened! Thanks for your advise everyone! That thing is freaking awesome!!!!!!
New dillema.........to sticker or not to sticker! Just kidding. I don't plan on putting them on. I think the Jet mode looks far better without it. Howver, if I get SS and TC...well, you get the point.

HAHAHAHA...
*wakes up*
"...ohhhh, my head...too much beer..."
*rolls out of bed*
*heads for bathroom, passing collection room on the way*
*sees something amiss out of corner of eye, stops in tracks*
*stares, horrified, at the mass of destroyed packaging, with poorly transformed figures displayed haphazardly around, some in awkward and/or compromising positions*
"......What........WHAT HAVE I DONE?!??! NNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!"
*drops to knees, sobbing*

Heh, don't worry, I've got the Masterpiece Bug, and I still don't own them all...too afraid to spend that much all in one go.

Luckily I've been able to get four of them so far though, and half were gifts.

Yeah but it's worth it. Of course I don't buy repaints. Never.
Except I have Starscream AND Skywarp.
They really are addictive.
