Yea, my buddy actually found a Stormcloud for the same price the other day.
It agree it is great to wait, But personally I never really find Transformers on clearance in my area. And with my luck all the good stuff will be sold out.

You never know what is going to be left over for them to clear out. If there is a figure I want, I am not going to take the chance of not getting it because I was waiting for it to go on clearance. That would make me more angry than if I paid more for something than I had to.

I only wait on figures I'm on the fence about, or a repaint of a figure I already have. I'm hoping Skyfall eventually goes on sale since I've already got Silverbolt. I'm not paying $30 for that figure again, but 10-15 would be acceptable.

Ditto that on a red Ultra Powerlglide. Don't need both, so I'll sell off the original, but I just can't see spending full price to get one again...

Yep, sometimes it's wise, I got Animated Ultra Magnus for 20$, and Universe Dragstrip for 6$ on clearences, and it looks like I'll get a Rotf Sideways for 7$ (note:retail price here is 20-22$ for a deluxe).
Counter-example: Try to get cheap Titaniums nowadays.

I think the lesson here is that you've got to know when to hold them, and when to fold them.

Exactly, I'll have like 5-million chances to get, probably ANY of the ROTF leaders on sale. Meanwhile, I never got Henkei Red Alert due to a lack of money and now he's almost impossible to find.
So here's my advice: Anything that is of a smaller size (Compare how many different Deluxes there are to figures in larger price points.), exclusive, or import you should not wait on.

You never count your money, when you're sittin' at the table,
There'll be time enough for countin', when the dealin's done.
Hah, awesome.

Counter that. Sometimes it's wiser not to wait.
I operate on a pay now or pay later philosophy. If I want it, I'm going to get it the first chance I get.
If domestic I wait until it is in stores (little need to order from BBTS or similar online retailers who charge a bit more for their great service).
If an import, I preorder ASAP.
Best things about BBTS are their Pile of Loot, cancelable preorders and easy return policy.
Savings on clearance sale < savings on inflated after market prices for the real special stuff.

I agree if it's something that will be in high demand. But for the rest of the regular-release figures, I'm perfectly content to wait for a good sale. That's why I still don't have ROTF Leader Prime. I do intend to pick him up eventually, I'm just waiting for the right moment. It could easily backfire on me (E-Galvatron, I'm looking at you), but there's still a very high chance I can get him for quite a few bucks less than MSRP.

The RotF leaders were on sale for $35 not too long ago, that would have been a good time to get one.

On BBTS? I did see that sale, but alas, I was broke. If you mean at retail, well I live in Canada, and the lowest they've gone here is $49.99, I believe. But if I see one for cheaper locally, I'd definitely go for it.

I was shock to walk in my walmart the other day to see they have 10 or more of UC Silverbolt and Stormcloud for $11.00 each!! Too me, its either you win some or lose some and the waiting game can be good or bad depending what it is. For example, i spent 6 months to find the Magus and Skywarp set from Target and a friend found one for me on ebay and picked it up for roughly $60.00 which i've seen it alot higher, more than $100.00 actually. anyway, i needed Magnus cause i have the city commander set and upgrade coming soon!!

[caveman]Mm, wait good.[/caveman] I too found Univ Stormcloud for $11 at Walmart, along w/ the Scout 2-packs for $9. Combine that w/ the ROTF Ramjet and Skywarp online bundle for $24 w/ free site-to-store shipping, and I picked up about $94 worth of TFs for $44, courtesy of patience, good karma, and Sam Walton. Woo-hoo!
On the flipside (always a flipside), I can't find the ROTF Back Road Brawl set from TRU anymore.

This. I've gotten screwed on alot of stuff, like Cybertron Nemesis Breaker, the Cybertron Wave 4 Minicons, Energon Terradive, the Universe Battle in a Box stuff, and others. Not too mention imports that have boned me.
