War for Cybertron, has a related toyline!

Reported earlier, there was a grey prototype that no one could recognize or could even guess at. There were guesses all over the map, from WWI grimlock to TransTech Optimus Prime. Well guess what folks, it is Ppecisely that War For Cybertron Optimus Prime that we saw, which means we'll be getting a toy line.

The original images were pulled because the original poster was worried about being ID'd because of the surroundings. We at Seibertron.com have removed all of the background and have left the toy image, originally posted at KOToys, for you the fans to see. If this is insufficient, we apologize and will withdraw the image if asked.

I like the alt mode! It looks like a sci-fi armoured police carrier vehicle mixed with some Batman The Animated Series/Bruce Timm flavour.

Excellent! I live for new Optimus Primes and wasn't expecting a new line any time soon! I do wonder if it means a whole new line though... Could just be a one and done or game store exclusive like Game Stop (Primus NO!) Still a must have, by hook or by crook!

Excellent, I hope they ramp up the detail on the toy to make it look as banged up as the CGI render.

hhmmm. I just don't know about this. I can't see Hasbro doing an entire line of toys to go along with a video game.

If the new animated series the same aesthetic as the game, then I can see a whole toy line based on that.

I could see that OP toy design as something they sell along with the game as incentive to pre-order (like a two disk collectors package, which I would pre-order as soon as it was announced).

The "Cybertron mode" stuff always looks funny to me. Supposedly these are aliens at their home, is it really necessary to be in disguise, I mean, like a 4 wheel vehicle? Maybe every day is a costume day there.

I don't see an alt mode as a "disguise" on Cybertron, but as one of the following:

1 ) Transportation mode, faster than bipedal but not as versatile, perhaps capable of carrying cargo or passengers (a majority of Autobots)

2 ) Increased armor and / or firepower at the cost of mobility and versatility (most tanks, Megatron / Shockwave, etc)

3 ) A different combat range than robot mode (i.e., close combat in robot but long range in alt, or vice versa for, say, the Dinobots).

Thinking tactically, there's many reasons a TF could have multiple modes.

Taking Springer as an example, we could claim that his helicopter mode is for a combination of aerial speed plus (perhaps) slightly greater firepower, while his "car" mode is for greater land speed plus (perhaps) more efficient armor (it's the same thickness, but more angled, and thus more likely to deflect a shot or present a thicker cross-section to an energy beam).

Hmmm...I'm not going to rule out a toy line yet, but I'm not going to say it's a sure thing even with this prototype as evidence. My thought being perhaps this figure will be available with a collector's edition of the game...that may explain why we haven't seen any other prototypes as of yet and no announcements or anything from Hasbro.

if they turn this into a tv series prequel, it may be dark like beast machines

If this is a pack-in for a 'collectors' edition of the game, the biggest I can see it being would be a scout class. Also, looking at the pic, it doesn't look to have many moving pieces and the wheels look... small or weak, they look Legend size to me.

The flip side- Man, that would make a cool prequel to the new animated series, wouldn't it? "Here's a prequel video game and a preview figure to wet your whistle until the show's release, see you in the fall!"

if they turn this into a tv series prequel, it may be dark like beast machines

just beat me...

Oh, please no! For some weird reason they reran Beast Machines about 6 months ago on cable each Saturday morning (3 episodes), and GOD, it was awful, I now understand why most of you were complaining about THAT show.

You know, I always like Beast Machines. It's a really underrated show and the only reason I can see people having a problem with it is because it radically changed every character from Beast Wars. The way I saw it, though, was that this was character DEVELOPMENT. I liked all the changes made and though each character's personality was different, it was understandably so (even Ghandi Prime).

But I won't start a rant about Beast Machines. I honestly think this toy is just an incentive to reserve the game. Why else would your flagship character look like a Legends/Scout class toy?

Your forgetting his rarely used forth mode aswell. Septic Tank! :P

Good thing is I dont need to get this unlike my bro, but it is interesting. If they are making a Prime they must be making a Megs :?

Even though the robot mode Prime seems heavily based on Animated, I hope the game and Toy line act as a whole new Universe. Animated was looked down upon by pretty much every middle-aged (teen) person, and by tying more things into animated you'd probably be harming it. By the look of the game, it seems much darker. As for the toy line, I think there would be a show, too. But then again, they made toys of almost all decepticones/drones, so...

The Force Unleashed line must have done well for hasbro to go along with this as well.

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO! A THOUSAND TIMES NO! :-( I watcheded Episode 1 on youtbe and I didn't like it one bit. I'm not totally hooked on the new game, and if this is the case, then I'm only collecting very few figures to none at all. But on the bright side, I can finish up my other collections of different toylines. Trying to stay positive here... :|
