Toy Display: What mode?

For a while now I've had all my Transformers displayed in alt mode so that I wouldn't have to worry about them falling over. Recently however I got ROTF Jetfire and I'm more worried about his rubber parts breaking under stress from where they end up in vehicle mode so I desided to leave him in robot mode.
Well it looked kinda odd to have just Jetfire in robot mode so agenst my better judgement I put everyone in robot mode. However to counteract the falling issue I allso rearanged my whole shelf so that the figures I'm more concerned about are at the bottom. Some of them because of the size still ended up on top but I've allso got alot of them leaning on the wall so I'm fairly confident I got them all suported.
Anyway was just wondering how do prefer to display your Transformers and why that mode?

Robot mode. My shelves are so crowded it's standing room only.

My shelf are mixed depending on lines and repaints.
Like most of my Altetnators/Binatech figers are in Alt mode because the altmodes are so "realistic"
G1's are mixed because there are so many characters that share the same mode, like Starscream is in robot mode while Skywarp is in Jet mode.
Since many of the RID and Unicron trilogy figures had "repaints" I keep the originals in robot mode and the repaints in alt mode.I also have doubles of the Optimus's of these lines because they all [most] combine with other characters.
BeastWars/Machines/BW Neo&BW2 figures are mixed depending on size issues and what mode they look better in.

Depending on how often I get around to it, I transform my collection when I dust. There are exceptions though, Unicron and ROTF Devy are staying in robot and combined forms respectively until I find a display stand for Unicron and more space.

Robot mode.. though I tried in alt mode.. same issue with space.. I only have vertical space not horizontal space..

My collection is in the 600-700 region (but who's counting?) and the only figure I display in altmode is the Energon Ultra Magnus on my Ultra Magnus shelf. He's too short for the back row and too blocky in botmode and blocks everything else around it. If I wanted a collection of vehicles, I'd collect Hot Wheels. Robots for the win!

If you need to fill up space then having a mix of bots and vehicles makes things look more full because the cars take up horizontal space and the bots take up vertical space.
My collection is mainly in robot mode because I'm running out of space but there's normally a few vehicles scattered around for variety. These are toys with two or more modes so I think keeping them all in one mode defeats the purpose of their design! I like to change things around.
Rial Vestro, you needn't worry about figures falling over unless you have a very windy house, live in an earthquake zone or very near and railway or live with clumsy people or animals. I've had some of mine in high-kick poses for weeks with no problems.

Oh they've been known to fall over for a viraty of reasons. Depending on the figure some of them just aren't verry stable to begin with. Then there's the fact that I'm sitting right next to the shelf the majorty of the time I'm at home. The place I live is technically a moble home, one of thoughs you see split in half on the back of trucks that get assembled on the property and the wheels burried under ground. That pluse the fact that it's about 20 years old. Every time someone does the laundry the washer and drying make the entire house shake so dispite the fact that my shelf is as far away from the biggest shelf shaker in the house as possible things still fall over. Oh and in case I haven't said it, the shelf itself isn't verry stable either. Some of the pannels are warped but I think if I stick the heavy figures on thoughs spots it eliminates the hump rather than trying to balance a figure like TM Megatron on the hump.
Anyway I typically don't like to put figures in front of eachother in any mode because I think it's looks like a big crowded mess and my eye is drawn to the larger transformers in the back. While side by side I actully notice all of them. Maybe I'm just weird. But I don't have alot of space anymode so I got repaints standing in front of eachother and even with that I had to put some figures in front of other. All the different forms of Beast Wars and Beast Machines Megatron are crowded into a corner as well as all my Primals. Allthough there's 1 less Primal so not as crowded and they don't have any wings to get in the way. On the other side of the shelft I got Protoform Prime standing in front of ROTF Prime and Animated Cybertron Mode Prime standing in front of Roll Out Prime who I'm amazed even fit on that shelf. And Animated Cybertron Mode Megatron is standing in front of Animated Earth Mode Megatron.
The two movie Megatron's are too close to the same hight. If I were to put 2007 Megatron in front of ROTF Megatron all you'd see is a 2 headed 2007 Megatron.
Anyway when I did have them in their alt modes any figures with multiple alt modes I'd try to get into a mode that no one else on my self had if possible. Optimal Optimus for example is the only Optimus I have with a tank mode so that's what mode I kept him in, pluse took less space, no wing span to mess with.

Combiners in combination mode, everything else alt mode.

It really depends on the figure, and it's repaints. If I have several versions of the same mold, like alternators jeep, right now Swindle is in bot mode, Hound is in vehicle mode. Same for Dead End and Sunstreaker.
MP Prime and MP Skywarp are just a little too tall for my shelves, so they sit in vehicle mode.
And some I just like the alt mode better, so that's how they stay, but most of my TF's are in bot mode.

For the most part, everything is in robot mode, though most (not all) combiners are in gestalt mode.

I'm still a fairly new collector, so space isn't an issue for me...yet.
To me, it's still a matter of which mode looks better for which figure. However, I do have a habit of having all bots on a single shelf transformed uniformly in either alt or bot mode.
To answer the question, I tend to keep my TF's in alt mode for those that are kept "in the open"; easier to dust. Those "touchier" ones with with fragile paint apps and detailing (premium TF's, MP's and ROTF's Buster OP) are kept inside a glass display cabinet. These are generally displayed in bot mode to show off the details and dramatic poseability.
Jetfire gets his own place of honor on my subwoofer. Transformed into jet mode, the low-sitting subwoofer shields his undercarriage kibble from view, and the matching black color of the subwoofer makes it look like he's displayed on a specialized pedestal. His low center of gravity in jet mode also ensures he won't topple from any bass generated by the subwoofer when watching movies.

Erm, WHICH Jetfire? I'm assuming ROTF Leader Jetfire, but I may be wrong...

Bot mode for the time being. Need for space. This would be a good time for mass-shifting-TF's that shrink when they go on the shelf!

Heheh, yeah, I was referring to ROTF Jetfire. He's my first (and currently my only) Jetfire purchase, so I subconsciously assumed I'd already mentioned it.
My bad.

Bot mode. There are just too many figures and not enough shelf.

Bot mode all the way. To me it shows the actual personality of the figure (and they take up less room!!)

Botmode always. These characters are the robots not their disguise. Also the bot mode saves space, when you have as many as I do space is at a premium.

Almost always robot mode. If I've got multiple versions of a mold on the same shelf, I tend to put one in alt mode. Occasionally a random figure is displayed in alt mode, but not often. Robot mode provides more space on shelves in most cases. Besides, I'm displaying TRANSFORMERS not car and animal statues.

I display deluxe classes in vehicle modes. And the leader classes in robot mode. Since you are having a Jetfire, you should combine it with leader class Optimus Prime to display. That's what I did
