Cost isn't actually determined by height. It's more about quantity of plastic. He's very bulky. Plus made up of multiple pieces.

It doesn't seem to have any relation to how much effort it took to design either...

i.e. it's price point is mostly determined by overall weight. Other factors include Research & Development, Design and Engineering, even the amount of individual pieces the overall toy has. Needless to say, Devastator's components could have had individual robot modes, but the costs would have been astronomical, not to mention it could pose a hazard for the kids with all the little pieces fitting into eachother. Think pinched fingers on a toy that heavy.

Plus, 100 dollars is a perfect price point for parents wanting to buy something for their kids, and Hasbro thinking of a selling point enough, 100 just seems perfect because alot of people saw ROFT, and kids are very influential in the toy market. I was walking around Walmart like 2 weeks ago looking at deluxe figures and a mom just picks up Devastator and says "wow, 100 dollars, okay this is a perfect toy for (insert name) and then we can get him something small" so there you go, I was about to go all out and tell her that she shouldn't spend that much on that toy, but hey, the kid might have been between 7-11 and not had any patience with any other figure because they would seem to hard to transform if you were in that certain age group.

Apparently because people are willing to pay it...

But I agree with you, it ain't worth it.

think it is the quality of it. But I feel $100 is kinda not worth it because it can't transform into individual robots..

double it and youve got the price he was going for in ireland when he first came out (more than that if you go to places like argos)

im not kidding .

the best price for the guy here now is STILL 104 EUROS which is circa 160 dollars

i dont know about the states but the cost here has sod all to do with parts, height, weight or anything else.

its a complete **** rip off which IMO is why the bloke is a shelf warmer here.

for those interested the SALE prices of ROTF figures here are

deluxe. 11.99

voyager 21.99

human alliance . 28.99

leader . 41.99

and thats all in euros so break out the calculator to figure out how bad it is.

Taking into consideration current exchange rates. Supreme Devastator is going for the equivalent of a hefty $230 USD down here in most places.

Walmart being the cheapest here has him going for around $190 bucks.

So $99.99 is a complete steal to me.
