Howdy guys, I recently picked up the Super Tuner Showdown on clearance, and I'm really enjoying the set. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Pipes is yet another chicken-legged Transformer. So I was wondering, what other molds possess this relatively new design choice?

Here's who I've found so far:



07 Movie Starscream: This includes the 07 Voyagers, FAB, Legend, and ROTF Voyager/Leader. The repaints are also included. Oddly enough the Protoform version has regular legs.



Sideways: Deluxe only, the Legends appears to have normal legs. Not sure about the FAB. Oh, and Deluxe Dead End as well.



ROTF Jetfire: All versions of course, and repaints.



Blazemaster: He's practically a transformers adaptation of a chicken . Awsome fig.



Frenzy: Yep, they got chicken legs too.



Salvage(and repaints): Odd but welceme design choice. Fantastice figure.

Well that's all of them that I can think of. Any more?

Also, feel free to talk about the chicken leg design choice if you want to. Personally I think it's more appropriate for transformers with flying alt. modes, but Pipes and Sideways pull it off nicely.

I think you pretty much nailed them all. Funnily enough I recently read an article about digitigrades, animals that walk on their toes only, instead of their soles like plantigrades do (including us). Digitigrades include chicken, cats, dogs, and rabbits (go figure >.>), and generally move quicker and more quietly than plantigrades.

And the style of leg is not really new btw. Beast Wars, especially Transmetals 2, had odd animalistic features in their robot modes. Behold; Scourge, the tracker. Given that, it's more of an insect thing, really...

Too many of them have it in my opinion... not sure if I want to compile that collection of not.

Does Baba Yaga count as the original mecha pilot?

I've only started collecting TF in 2007, but I notice from the all the pics of earlier released figures that the whole "chicken leg" look started with the Bayformers, Starscream being the most prominent one.

It also seems to me that those with chicken legs are either flight capable or Decepticons; the only exceptions are ROTF Sideswipe and ROTF Jetfire, but then the latter's essentially a defected Decepticon. Maybe this is to make the Decepticons look more aquiline and menacing.

I also notice that many of the "non-canon" movie toys (those that weren't shown in the movie but are part of the Bayverse line) tend to have chicken legs, too; in fact, more so that those that were featured in the movies.

Yes, I agree with SKYWARPED_28.

I'd also like to add voyager and leader ROTF Megatron to the list.

After watching the latest video review of Lockdown, Peaugh also mentions about he can be a chicken walker as well and dont forget about Dropkick from the first Transformer movie 07!!

You can give ROTF Long Haul chicken legs too.

Thanks Skyfire77, after seeing that pic, i'll be scar for life and look at Long Haul differently now

Deep down, we're all still 10 year old boys, noticing for the first time that you can flip down G1 Scavenger's connector when he's in robot form...
