Energon Powerlinx compatibility

Hi I got a few Energon Powerlinx figures for my son and he wants a few more for the powerlinx feature. I was wondering if there are other toys in the transformers line that can power link with the Energon powerlinx figures? I saw some "Powerlinx" figures in the Armada line, are these the same powerlinx or are they not compatible?

Eh no. "Powerlinx" has a different meaning for each line. Armada actually had two:

1) The combination of a Mini-Con with a larger Robot, be it Autobot or Decepticon
2) A "Powered-Up" version of a character. Toy-wise it means it's just a repaint of an earlier release.

For Energon, it's the combination of two Autobots and that is restricted to the Energon line.

However, if you're lucky and have a KB-Toys nearby, look for "Downshift" from the Universe line. It's a repaint of the Energon version, but a nice substitute if you can't come across the Energon version.

Hey thanks that made it all clearer. We do have a Kaybee Outlet about 1 hr from here, do they sell much transformers there?

KB Toys do sell Transformers in the Outlet stores, I'd say it's worth a look when you're in the nearby area. As for Downshift, I wouldn't really count on it, the last one I saw was in Allen, TX in Febraury, but I consider them notorious for having backstock (older figures). Maybe you'll strike lucky :)

Without knowing which figures your son has, these Autobots are the only ones in the entire toyline that have the combining feature:

Deluxe Sized:

•Downshift
•Hotshot/Energon Hotshot (same toy; different paint scheme)
•Inferno
•Prowl (same toy; two different paint schemes. The black one came with Checkpoint, a K Mart exclusive)
•Rodimus/Checkpoint (same toy; different paint scheme)
•Roadblock (same toy body as Inferno; different paint scheme, new head & crane)
•Towline
•TRU Optimus Prime vs Megatron— an exclusive set with smaller versions of Optimus Prime and Megatron. The Optimus Prime figure is deluxe sized and can combine with the above listed figures.

Voyager Sized
(These figures are larger than the deluxe figures but they can combine with the deluxe sized figures):

•Ironhide/ Energon Ironhide (same toy; different paint scheme)
•Jetfire/Overcast (same toy; different paint scheme)
•Cliffjumper/Beachcomber (same toy; different paint scheme)

Seibertron has a toy gallery of the Energon figures here
Good luck.

And for the record:

ULTRA (Can only combine with other toy of the same mold):

Landmine, was redecoed into Landquake
Bulkhead, was redecoed into Quickstrike

And the Super version of Optimus Prime can combine with Wing Saber, or with Omega Supreme or Omega Sentinel, the two of which share a mold.

Swoop and Grimlock are sold together, combine into Mega-Dinobot, and aren't really designed like Energon toys... you can't combine them with anything else.
