Looks pretty nice. It comes in a little plastic snap top tackle box, with cover art and instructions. The actual parts are made of resin and it comes with a full decal sheet. Pics to come.

I passed on this one after the Drift... issues, Duq. Is it the same material? If it's sturdier then Drift was I may order one. Details, man, details!

I've been curious about this, but I'm also afraid Hasbro may do their own.

Does the head look better in person?

It looks like resin casting right? I would like to see it modded on Sunstreaker. It's a lot of work because you would have to paint Sunstreaker white. let's hope HasTak does a Wheeljack, or maybe FP will make a slight adjustment to the Energon/Superlink version.

The HotRod mold would have been much better for this.

It's resin, but it's a lot better quality casting than Drift(I have him also). It's a lot smoother and mine has no bubbles. The design is pretty clever, none of the parts actually require glue. The rear spoiler slides over the existing spoiler, the new roof/wind shield attaches just like the factory one, the middle piece of the new air dam snaps unto the black flip up piece of the grill, and the two side pieces of the air dam attach via pegs that fit into screws holes right in front of the front tires. I'll end up glueing mine in the end, but you could get by without it. Not any where near as delicate as Drift.

The head looks good in person. It comes as you see in the pic, molded in grey resin with the mouth plate painted silver. It's s a direct copy of Energon Downshift minus light piping and larger more G1-esque "ears".

I'll be using a Sunstreaker wish me luck.

They are using this kit on that custom. In theory I could have the same result provided my novice painting skills come through.

I just attached all the new pieces for test fit, and everything fits really well. I was a little concerned about the new rood/windshield, but it attached and lined up with everything perfectly during transformation. If you have decent painting skills there is no reason this shouldn't turn out good. They have provided decals for all the details so really all you need to do is get everything that's yellow painted white, and everything that is grey painted black. I plan to start tomorrow.

I'm going to try to finish this upgrade this weekend and post some pics. Everything is going pretty smooth, resin seems to be accepting the paint well unlike the Drift kit which was almost unpaintable. Quick question for those who repaint figures, what can be done to minamize paint rub. I really see that as the only problem I will encounter.

Master Collectables, the same people who made that snazzy Nova Prime that popped up here recently.

Okay guys be gentle this is my first repaint :P Anyway I'm basically done, all I lack is painting the feet and adding the decals. Moding the feet was a last minute decision. I wanted the legs to have a different transformation so he would stand out from the Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, and Redalert. It required altering the feet.

As far as the add-on parts go they are fine. The problem is having to repaint an entire figure, which I'm now afraid to transform for fear of paint chipping after all this hard work. Just reassembling the figure casued some chipping. When I paint the feet I plan on doing some touch up to the spots that chipped. This would have worked extremely well if one was using Henkei Redalert as the base figure. I have a Redalert, but I wasn't willing to sacrifice him considering how expensive he has become. Basically it would just be a matter of painting the new parts white and stripping off the red paint of Redalert and done. Luckily none of the new parts required glue, so if I do decide to bite the bullet and get an additional Redalert to convert all I will have to do is swap the parts out. That's another reason I haven't applied the decals.

I figured I would keep this updated since Master Collectables seems to be attempting to get into the third-party market and may have more sets hitting the market. I believe they are working on an upgrade set to convert the Prowl/Silverstreak/Smokescreen mold into Jazz.

That looks great El Duque!

It looks much better than the initial pictures Master Collectibles had provided us back when the set was first promoted.

I appreciate the pictures and the work you put into getting him together, but that set is not for me at all.

I'm happy with my Superlink Wheeljack as a Classics Stand-in.

El Duque, it looks like your doing a fine job on the mod, looking forward to seeing the end results.

Razorclaw & Prime Evil, I'm very much looking forward to watching you two fight for that Superlink Wheeljack! If you're lucky there'll even be one there!

It's gonna be a 3 way melee then. He's been a target for me for what will be 3 years running. Why haven't I ebayed this guy yet?

I know where your coming from, especially now that I've been through the entire repainting process. This whole thing is actually a pretty costly project when you factor everything in from parts, to paint, to the free time I put into in. I'd say at least $200.00 probably more, and in the end it your left with a marginal figure. I'm sure more expierienced kitbashers/painters could produce a better more durable result, but for your average fan this is what you can expect. Like I said before I'm basically afraid to transform him because I know it will damage the paint to a degree. Especially those interlocking door panels. Hate to see all that hard work just get peeled off. Unlike the Roadbuster upgrade kit by Natobot this is a full blown conversion process. I probably won't do another set like this. This kinda all just came to together. I had always wanted to try my hand at a repaint, I just happened to have an extra Sunstreaker, and then this kit came out. So I figured what better time to give it a shot. Bottom line in my opinion, these kits just aren't for your average fan.

Because he's IMPOSSIBLE to find. Yeah, he's on my list too. But don't worry, I won't be at Botcon. :P

Nice job on the Wheeljack, El Duque, probably better than I could do. XD It looks quite a bit more labor intensive than I'm interested in, plus it's too expensive. Hopefully Hasbro decides to do a new version soon.

Superlink Wheeljack == Energon Downshift? If so, here:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Transformers-Energo ... 19b912004a

Maybe a bit spendy, but if he's really that hard to find... I thought I had seen them floating around eBay in the past the couple times I've considered it (and at a better price,) but maybe I'm thinking of something else. Well, surely if Superlink Wheeljack isn't the same thing as Energon Downshift...

Not quite, Superlink Wheeljack has silver instead of green and more paint apps, which is what makes him so much more desirable. I think that means he's more cartoon-accurate, not that I've seen the show. He just looks WAY better.

I've already got Energon Downshift. ;)
