New Toy Gallery: Recon Ironhide

A Transformer pays homage to movies such as Rambo and Predator, as Recon Ironhide is decked out with a fierce bumper, an arsenal of unorthodox weapons and jungle camouflage. One might wonder why Ironhide has chosen to undergo this makeover - he's out for Bludgeon!

Recon Ironhide is the fifth use of the Ironhide mold. Originally used by 2007 Movie Ironhide, then repainted into Offroad Ironhide and Premium Ironhide, while ROTF Voyager Ironhide was the first remold. You can see all of them in Seibertron's galleries. Check out Recon Ironhide's gallery in the link below.

So this figure uses the same mold as the '07 Ironhide? COOL! That means Reprolabels' Trailbreaker conversion set will work on him!

...

...what?

Bludgeon, brought swords to a gunfight with Ironhide?! I think Ironhide would blast off Bludgeon's pretty face!

could you give me the URL to this particular set from repo labels? I can't seem find them.

Since we never got a T-breaker in the classics line, maybe it will take some of the suck outt'a M-Bay's hideous rendition of our beloved red Iornhide...

thanks

It's an extremely extensive reMOLD of the original Ironhide. Please refer to the gallery for comparison shots with the 2007 and 2009 versions. Basically, everything from the waist up has been remolded. New doors. New chest. New face (this one has the battle mask). New truck cab transformation. New weapons. It feels like an all-new toy to me ... I just wish they had done something different with his legs. I didn't realize how extensively this figure was remolded until I had it in my hands.

Basically what I'm trying to say is that I'd be hesitant about ordering a set of stickers intended for the 2007 version to upgrade the 2010 version. However, the stickers are fairly inexpensive ... might be worth checking it out regardless.

I still don't get the silver striping pattern, but I don't really care. Everything else awesome about this guy over-rides that.

I might get that sticker set, since I have a 07 Ironhide, and nothing else to do with him once I get this bad boy.

Yeah, I'm not sure why they put it in "Classics," I only found it by accident, but it looks like a good set.

Before reading this, i had my doubts about ol' Recon IH, and now that Seiberton said that its like a whole new toy from the waste up, i might consider him then. The only IH i have is the offroad version which i like alot, i did have the ROTF version but didnt like that version at all so i got rid of it. Hopefully this one doesn't disappoint me at all, but with all the new weapons he has, he should be alot of fun...

For those who have doubts, I can attest that this toy is probably the best movie Ironhide released. Head mold is better, the back kibble is great and does not fall off like the previous versions, accessories are nice, army weapons are more accurate... overall a great toy.

The bad side of it, or at least my figure (YMMV), the waist peg is freakin difficult to put into the hole. It requires a lot of force but this could be my own copy.

Just bought Recon Ironhide today, and I've been on the fence about him. It wasn't till i opened him up that i realized how awesome the new mold is! The look and weight of the figure felt awesome, and the transformation is slightly different (in a good way). the only other Ironhide i have in any of the movie figures is the original 07 version. this mold kicks the others butt! While not really film accurate in terms of the striped markings and a few of the accessories on the truck itself, its an A+ figure!
