G1 Snarl Question

Hey guys, I just bought a G1 Snarl in very good condition (still shiny  ) it was either a really good condition Snarl or a very loose G1 Grimlock with rusty nails so i think i made the right choice. also, I didn't realise how small the Dinobots were, I always expected them to be bigger somehow (I didn't get the WST if thats what you're wondering :) )

Anyway... my question is where is the date/company stamp or mark located on G1 Snarl? I've looked all over but i can't find it so any help would be appreciated.

I got the guy to transform both of them for me and even though as a kid I really liked Grimlock, I have to say that I actually like the Snarl mold more than grimlock. the head sculpt is alot better IMO and its not too far back as in Grimlocks case. I also like his character in the cartoon which i watched recently.

that being said, as a kid I really liked Grim's Alt mode and character (I loved everything relating to dinosaurs when i was little) so I'll be picking him up at a reasonable price. (I have a feeling that the dinobots will be reissued because they are some of the most popular TF's.)

I never really looked at the Dinobots that closely, but after you mentioned that, I looked over my orginal G1 Snarl and also could not find the stamped name and date either! Also could not find it on G1 Swoop.

I looked at the other Dinobots and found the name and date on them.

Guess these two didn't come with this info. on them, wonder why? :-?

is it not on the inside of one of the legs?

I thought it was on the gold pieces that split, like the tail or head...

I haven't looked yet, but at this point it's a mystery.

I do believe you should get G1 Snarl. The mold is fantastic, even if he is a useless, lumbering stego, instead of a powerful, fast tyrannosaur. The cartoon character of Snarl is not fabulous (Grimlock and Swoop get all the air time, bue as I remember he's pretty agreeable, and not too bad a fighter), the comic character is okay too, but again, not getting much spotlight...

On the back of the robot leg isn't it? I don't have one on me to check but that's where I remember it being.

yeah, I like the characters that play the underdogs, thats why when i was little my fav characters were starscream and hotrod (not rodimus prime). when i watched the dinobots again in the G1 cartoon I found snarl's character to be quite cool, he did things how he wanted to.

anyway back to topic, where's that date stamp?! I read on another site that there were some KO's of the dinobots produced and i REALLY hope i didn't buy a KO. (I don't think it is a KO because the plastic quality is very good and it has an autobot sticker on its chest.) I'd feel alot better if I know its 100% original, i paid £30 ($60) for it without accessories.

Mine is NOT the KO version, they are the real deal! And I have looked three times since, there is NO date or name on either Swoop or Snarl! Must be a factory goof up? Does it make them more valuable? :-?

Before you buy ask the seller when and where they purchased it. But in any case the set of Dinobots are a must for your collection!

Snarl is a good addition to the Dinobots, and wasn't he and Swoop made after the other three in the G1 cartoon series? It's strange that he was NOT in the animated Transformers Movie. I asked the question about a year ago, and someone wrote back and said his toy mold was in contract talks and was not decided until after the movie was made!

cool, no problem then I just wanted to find out what year they were made in 1985 or 1986? I dunno but If yours doesn't have a stamp and is an original then thats good enough for me :)

Dinobots are definately a must for me.

It that's all you wanted to know it's 1985.

I don't think that bootleg dinos are a very common item to find. Lately, all I remember seeing was a 'gold' Slag, but other than that, if there are KO's they are pretty old! Probably a collector's item, themselves.

Where is Snarl in the movie? :???: I want to go back and see for myself? It must have been very briefly, cause most of the movie he's not around! Where about is he is the movie, the Autobot City fight scene where Megatron and the rest of the Decepticons are attacking? :???:

mind you, there are some Joe figures without date stamps too, so i guess its also common for Hasbro to do that with TF figures

Okay, I found it for both Swoop & Snarl!! On Swoop, the Takara name & date are on the bottom of the left wing, Hasbro on the right. For Snarl, you must be looking very closely, like looking for him in the movie. The Takara name & date is on the inside of black part of the right leg, Hasbro on the left. Look VERY closely & you will see it my friend. And Ryan, I was wondering if you were gonna catch his very hard to see self in the Quintesson ship. Good eye.

NICE ONE!! of all the places thats the hardest to spot lol. I'm also happy knowing its not a KO.

Upon closer inspection on my snarl it says on one leg "Takara CO.LTD 1980-1984" and the other side says "Hasbro 1980-1984"

so is it possible that they used the mold of the previous toy to make it? as the dinobots came out in 1985? (Its not diaclone its the other one which i can't remember)

The other toy is not diaclone, it's Dinosaur robo (dinobots), but mistaken by many to be diaclone because it's the pre-TF version.

Yes, it is the exact mold used in the Dinosaur Robo, except the DR version has black paint instead of red, and a grey sword. :D It looks quite good in black, I must say (yes, I own that version). I'm a bit of a Snarl nut-- have yet to grab the green G2 version yet though.
