Binaltech BT19 BlueStreak Paint fading problems

I bought a binaltech bluestreak a while ago, and just discovered today that after sitting in its box for a few months, the paint somehow faded on the upper portion of the rear near the spoiler and the engine area.

It's been near a window but not in direct sunlight (it's on the north side of the house), and there's a ledge there so it was partly shaded anyway. The only thing I can think of other than light is temperature, since it's cooler near the window. But still, that seems really weird. I guess another possibility is there's something in the plastic packaging that's reacting with the paint, or something from human skin when the toy was handled out of its box.

Has anyone else had this kind of experience with a binaltech toy? Any ideas for a repaint?

Grease from handling sounds the most likely cause as BTs are painted whereas ALts use coloured plastic. The grease could cause degradation of the paint.

I haven't heard of this but maybe you'll be the first in a line. The figures aren't that old so maybe things will start going wrong from now on :? I'll have a look at my BTs and see if I notice anything, they've been handled a lot so should be covered in plenty of finger grease!

This is interesting. I bought a second hand MIB BT1 Smokescreen a few months back and the paintwork is in immaculate condition. I'm not sure how much the paint colour differs to the Bluestreak release but I can't imagine that plastic 'fumes' or somesuch would react in a way that affected the paint on diecast.

The immediate thought would be either be a reaction from a coating of varnish (possibly from the factory) or light - but if anything on a figure would lighten would be the plastic?

Perhaps giving the figure a light polish would help to bring back the lustre to the figure?

I've checked my BTs and I can't find anything wrong with their paint.

Well, I found one person on Amazon who had the same experience.

http://www.amazon.com/Transformers-Bina ... B001547CMY

The thing that confuses me most is the way it's fading is very uneven. The spoiler area is almost a silver color, with a slight purple tinge, as is that flap above the engine. Meanwhile the main hood around that one engine flap is still pretty solidly blue, though faded a little. The top of the car, above the seats, is a slightly purple shade of the main blue. The side that was facing the back of the box and thus furthest from any light source is the truest to the original color. That makes me suspect it could have to do with light, but without knowing more about the other person's experience, it's hard to say.

Perhaps I should just sit it in the sun for a while and see what happens. It's too late to save the paint at this point, so it can't really do any harm. Maybe I can create a new "custom-faded" paint scheme!

LOL!
Yeah, turn it round from time to time and maybe it'll all go silver.
