NO REAL GEARS FOR YOU! Thanks for JACK, Wal Mart.

After a frustrating atempt to find movie toys, I finally stumble across Real Gear figures at Wal Mart. Right there on the shelf.
I try to scan them on the price checker. They won't scan.
I take the tag for the Cybertron scouts to the register with me so the cashier can scan that.
Nope. They come up looking like they're "on recall." Stupid cashier sez "You don't know why they're on recall, they might ccatch on fire or something."
So I explain to her what's really going on. That they're marked like that because it's before the release date, and someone put them on the shelf anyways...
What response do I get?
"Well, why'd you try to buy them if you knew it was before the release date?"
I just walked away, speechless and empty-handed, feeling like Charlie Brown after Lucy pulls the football away.
So, that's why I have no Real Gears. And also why I'm gonna try to avoid that Wal Mart on the future.
Un freakin' believable.

Transformers need a warning label. The subsequent addiction can cause unconditional and irratic emotional outbursts. Consult a doctor before engaging in the franchise.
I'm joking

But seriously, they're just toys. Wait till the 2nd. Wont kill you, right?

A similar thing happened to me at K- Mart last week, but they only had Longview and Spyshot (binoculars and camera) as well as some FABs. Since I have a 5 year old with a birthday coming up, I grabbed the FABs, the Real Gear figs, and some other things.
The register rang up Do Not Sell with each FAB and Real Gear. She scanned each one and set aside each one that couldn't be sold yet. Except for one, Spyshot 6. She put that one in the stack of stuff to be bagged.
So, after being told I could not buy the other items by the manager, the cashier bagged up all the stuff I bought along with Spyshot 6. I was a bit annoyed at not getting the other things so I said nothing. Now I have it. I was charged for it, so it wasn't stealing but the passive-aggressive side of me felt a tinge of satisfaction for getting the figure from them early anyway.

I just feel like I got jerked around is all. It won't kill me to wait... Mainly what I resent is being treated like an idiot by the cashier, though the fact that someone put the damn thiings out early in the first place and then I ouldn't buy the damn things is just frustrating.
I guesss it's mostly just jealousy. It seems like everyone else has Bonecrusher and Wreckage and Jazz and some people even have Optimus... What do I have? Protoforms. So I needed to vent. And I figured, what the hell, I'll start a thread for it so people who've had the same problem can bitch about it with me.
I really think my frustration here is justified. And I was under the impression that if there was anywhere to talk about it, then this would be the place. Do I have other problems in my life? Yes. Do I think there's any earthly reason for me to post them here? Not really, no. So I...
I'm ranting. This is a rant, right here. Okay, I'm done now. I'll be elsewhere for a bit.

Try Target, I've seen them at 2 different ones and had no problems getting bb and barricade.

I got leader prime and he is awesome. I got it from Wally world, and it didn't ring up but the lady put in the price manually so I got him early. But it was on the shelf. I personally think street dating the stuff is stupid. Street dating the spidey toys didn't help those sell any. I could totally be wrong, but the first time I heard of a toy line doing this was Star Wars, and since then Hasbro feels the need to street date any movie toy line.
I'm still waiting for the deluxes. Even though the street date was cancelled on that I don't think my stores realized it.
purchase

I did not purchase them but the Wal-Mart I went to locally had the Optimus voice changer, potato head and a couple of others they did not scan.
But, at a distant Wal-Mart they had a slight deal more, they had Jazz and Wreckage, they scanned and by the lack of them there looked like they had been purchased.
At a K-Mart tonight they had the FAB and they all scanned as well.
I suppose at the Register they may have a warning that pops up , but these 3 had found their way around "THE DATE" spooky Halloween voice.

The Kmart I had an issue with tonight had the FAB's and they scanned at the price scanner but when I went to buy them they wouldn't sell them. They did sell Softimus Prime and Slumblebee though.

I got a laugh picturing the guy in your avatar snuggled up with Slumblebee and Softimus Prime.

I had a similar experience at a local TRU today. I found a pile of two Swindles and two Bonecrushers, taking one of each. As I did so, a few stock people come out and scour the shelves looking for movie figures. They find nothing besides the Swindles and Bonecrushers. Luckily though they didn;t take mine, saying "I'm not going to take those from you, but they aren;t supposed to be out till the 2nd." I'm just happy I got away with my Swindle and Bonecrusher.
The stock boy who told me they weren't supposed to be released till the second was very pleasant about it really, even though he was wrong.

If a retailer violates a street date, they face HEAVY penalties. At the Target I work at, they decided not to release the Deluxe movie figures early because they were worried about this exact problem. Your dissatisfaction about not being able to buy a little toy until next week is not worth the money they'd have to pay. They're not doing it to irk you, and the cashiers are just doing their jobs. Besides, it's only until next friggin' week. Are you going to lose your $10 before then?

THe street dates ere lifted on some figures however. thats why people are griping, because stores arent getting the message or just being lazy.

Or are putting out the wrong ones early, then confiscating them at the register, while not shelvings the ones that WILL ring up.
Is it really that wrong for me to be frustrated about this?

I think if its on the shelf then you should be able to buy it. Even if its out early. I dont understand how some stores have the realgear and the rest of the toy line out and the computers let them be sold but in other stores there computers wont. I dont understand why hasbro wont let them be sold. The sell date is a week away let all the toys go out early. Hasbro would make more money by doing this as would the stores.

It is my understanding of the law that if it is on the shelf as sellable it should be sold unless there is a recall for safety reasons. And seeing as the walmart stocked the figures on the shelf it is there fault and he should have been allowed to buy them. I would have complained to the manager, and if that didnt work I would have asked for the district mangers phone # and threatened to call corporate.. even though it is in fact just a toy.. IT IS THE PRINCEAPALTY OF IT SMOKEY.....

Thats what i did when i found them at kmart. They would've sold me the real gear guys if they knew the price. The computer wouldnt ring it and they couldnt find the paper that comes with the figures saying the price. Once you get the manager then you will usually get what you want. Unles the manager is a total dick(witch is more common then you think)then you get boned. Make a big deal. They want to avoid a scene. That work in your favor.

That sucks man. That is really messed up.
I could care less about the Real gear TFs, but if you like them, that was pretty bad for them to do.
At any rate, I always hated that little b**** Lucy for doing that...

I think its just lame they always say its because of a recall. They just don't wanna take the time to help customers out and hope they just walk away believing their excuses. I had similar experience when the protoforms came out, they were all on the shelfs but wouldn't ring at the register and they said can't sell them because it could be on recall. I am glad though cause now I can save some bucks for the real movie figures.

I had a similar situation at Wal Mart on Sat 5/26. I alittle after midnight I went to the TF aisle and noticed a case of The voyager assortment on the floor. It was already opened so I peeked in and pulled out Starscream and Ironhide. They wouldn't scan at the price checker, and I figured they probably wouldn't ring but I tried anyway. Took em to the register and the "do not sell" came up. I got a similar response tfrom the clerk saying there must be a recall. So she put em in a basket with a bunch of other wal mart crap and I just went on my way a little frustrated and upset.

Same thing at my WM the other day. The boxes were not even opened, but I KNEW I could not buy them, so I just walked on by.

Most supercenter walmarts are 24 hrs no? Maybe not all.
The one thats 1min away from my house opens 24hrs, its pretty cool cause you can go shop when there's no one around to compete with you haha. So I think I am gonna go on Friday night/Sat Morning and see if they have the movie figures out.
