As I sometimes resell them...
Probably not.
Unless I could acquire another one. Hard to say.

In a heartbeat. I refuse to keep a toy locked up in its package, it's cruel. i was tempted by the Toys R Us Commemorative Soundwave- it's such a cool package! Took him out, kept the box.
Let 'em breathe, people!

You bet I would. It may be a rare instance of me keeping the packaging though, for sentimental reasons.
If a transformer is kept MISP, or MOSC, then you are losing at least half the fun of the figure.

I wouldn't spend upwards of $100 for a rare figure if I didn't have any intention of opening it.
That being said, I very, very rarely spend more than $20 on a figure, and have never bought a rare MISB figure, so the point is moot

.
That being said, I do respect those who keep figures MISB(even if I don't), and if I ever did find a rare figure MISB for cheap at a yard sale or something, I wouldn't open it, and would probably ebay it or something.

I've only got 2 figures mint in their boxes, RiD Magnus, and Armada Overload. The only reason for that is I already have one of each. If I got a rare TF, you better believe it would come out. Lucky Draw gold chrome ones, however, would come out for photos, but some kind of clear plastic or glass case would have to be their home afterward, because dust is bad for all that chrome.

I do it all the time.
Then I throw the packaging away.

I'll open it and play with it. Probably keep the packaging, but take it out.
Toys are meant to be played with. That's why they're toys!

If I didn't wanna open it, I'd buy loose.
If there was (say) a sealed origional G1 Prime, I'd probably pass in favor of a losse one simply because I'd hate to ruin it. But any given modern release is open.

I like to think of myself as Messrs. Croup/Vandemar when it comes to Transformer packaging.

Gold plated lucky draw figures are probably the one case where I wouldn't open them, rather AFA grade them and seal them in a plastic box.
Mainly because I'd most likely already have the figure, and I'd hate to see the gold starting to flake.
Clear plastic figures et al should be out and about though. BREATH DAMN YOU!
~~ Though I'm not so sure about G1 figures. Would probably keep them boxed since I can't really pose or play with them as much as my universe collection, so they'd probably do better displayed in their packaging...

I buy them because I want to enjoy them, not because they could be an investment. If I can't open the expensive ones right when I get them, then I just get like a kid waiting for Christmas. Then I open them, and I feel totally ok!

I wouldn't BUY any TF that I didn't plan to open, which is why I generally don't pay more than $50 for any TFs.
HOWEVER, if someone GAVE me a really rare TF that was worth a lot, I would probably keep it sealed.

Well I got this G1 Takara StarScream that I did not bother to display with my other sets not because I couldn't bear to but rather choose not to. Doesn't Fit with my entire collection so I kept him in the box but I did display my SDCC Soundwave.. haha funny yea I know..

Wouldn't even think twice about it. If I buy it, it gets opened. I only rarely hold onto the packaging. If I walked into a vintage store and they had a MISB G1 Raiden and MIB G1 Raiden I would buy the MIB just to leave MISB in it's untouched state. If they only had a MISB one though I would buy it an open it. (Okay if I stumbled across two G1 Raidens I would buy them both, and sell the MISB one to more that pay for the other

Same here. The only sealed figures I have are henkei Dirge, Thrust, Thundercracker, Skywarp, Strafe and E.D. Liger and that's only because I don't have any more room to display them at the moment.

I open them all. Some of the really cool stuff I open gently and then display them in their boxes. This is mostly to protect them from dust. They all get opened though.

I always open all of them. Maybe I'll save the box, but usually not. Threw out all of my G1 reissue boxes last year because I said to myself "why am I keeping these?"
I buy the toys for the entertainment value, not as an investment. I tend to avoid buying MIB and MISB because I know I'd be paying for a box that I don't want. That's why I haven't bought Metalhawk yet: I'm still waiting for a loose but complete figure to show up on eBay. I do tend to wait for good condition complete figures, and I'll buy up parts & accessories to fix up and complete the figures that I have, but that's just because I want good condition figures with all the fixings, not because it will increase my collection's value.
I understand the mindset of those who keep things MISB, but that ain't me.

Ha, I know I'm in the minority here, but NOOOO I would not open it! I open enough to satisfy my tranformation cravings. If I wanted to play with it bad enough, I'd get another. There's just something about looking at a MINT unopened TF that I like...especially years later. It's probably the comic collector in me.

I'm sort of weird, I guess. I opened Noisemaze Production Type, as well as the TV Magazine Superlink exclusives, but I've got things like "Gathering at the Nemesis" MISB. I guess if it's a repaint I don't care about too much, I'll leave it MISB, but some figures are just too gorgeous to keep sealed. Right now Noisemaze is back in his box for safety until I get my collection room, but he'll be back.

Bought an MISB Dezaras - opened it. Same with Star Saber and Victory Leo. Bought them MISB cause I did not want somebody else's used toys on my shelf.
I sold the boxes for about $200 total. Sometimes there is an occasion to think twice before throwing the rare figure boxes away
