I have seen other complaints about them online (damaged boxes, broken figures, poor communication including taking orders where inventory was not available).
Whether the mistakes end up good or bad for the customer is not the point here. These mistakes do not really make me feel condfident in ordering with them.
Here's the problem, no business is perfect. Mistakes can, do, and will happen. It's how they handle themselves and correct said mistakes that make the difference.
Yes, HTS has made some huge blunder moves in the past.
Yes, there have been well publicized snafus in the past.
No one denies that. Yet, no one speaks up for when they not only get the job done, they do it well.
I've had several experiences buying from them, and each one went without a hitch. In fact, items came faster than expected, and with the coupon codes they list every now and then, it was cheaper than going to the store and buying it off the shelf.
They've served plenty of people in and out of the fandom, and served them well. Lately, all we hear from our fellow fans is negativity. No one can do right by them, nothing's ever good enough.
I'm flat out sick of it.
Oh and do you think BBTS is perfect? I sure hope you don't. They've sent the wrong figure, extra figures, had shipping problems, etc. In most of those cases, they either offer to fix the problem (at their expense), or let you keep the second figure.
Yet when HTS lets someone keep the extra figure due to a screw up on their part, it makes them look like they don't know how to handle their business. How fair is that?
That sounds ridiculous to me.
Not to mention, businesses have insurance protection and tax write offs. If you think the highly praised BBTS hasn't written off a few of those mistakes, I'd say you're sorely mistaken. I won't definitively say that they have, since I don't have proof, but if you think it's impossible, that's just silliness.
A lot of fans say "Robotkingdom is one of the best!" really? My first experience with them was my last.
I ordered Animated Leader Class Megatron from them, paid for EMS, waited 5 days, and it was a Saint Seiya Myth Cloth figure. Not only had they sent me the wrong figure, but it wasn't even from the same toyline or company, plus the figure they sent me was priced higher, so they were losing money on their mistake.
They refused to make contact with me, so I had to go through PayPal, who did decide in my favor, but couldn't get the money back, to get Robotkingdom to talk to me. (Yet when I ordered Megatron, and had shipping questions, they were all Chatty Cathy.)
Finally after about two weeks, I get an email from the owner saying "Send it back, we send you Megatron." At first, I was going to have to PAY to send it back to them, out of my pocket! I finally got him to reimburse me for the Airmail shipping cost (which was close to $20.00...) and I had to wait the whole two weeks for it to get back to them in Hong Kong before I could get my shipping reimbursement, and my Megatron. What should've been 5 days, ended up being a month before I saw my Megatron. Oh and even though it was his mistake, he sent the correct figure through Air Mail, instead of EMS like I had paid for. I ended up having to buy Megatron through a shady eBay seller and got him for cheaper, and faster than Robotkingdom could do.
There was no real apology outside of "I'm sorry", no thank you for the business, no "here's a free gift for your time." like BBTS and HTS do, just basically "Here's your stuff. Are we done now?" kinda deal.
HTS is leaps and bounds better than people realize, and the people who have had pleasant experiences should stand up and say "Hey, I had a good one!"
And yes, it does suck that he had to wait 3-4 weeks for an item, but that's the gamble you pay when you do your holiday shopping online. Mistakes are guaranteed to happen during the holidays. Not just with HTS, but with any e-tailer.
And, in the end he received free figures that he can sell or trade and make a profit off of...FOR FREE.
Again I say, WHINE, WHINE, WHINE.
I'm just absolutely stunned by the level of ungrateful people.
