Hey there, I dont even know if this has been mentioned before, I am sure it has..but...

I was at WalMart with my kid yesterday and I noticed the Alternator Rumble. When I picked up the car I saw it was red even in his Robot form with the yellow squares in the chest.
I said to myself, this isnt Rumble? Its Frenzy.

I come here and I see the same thing, named the same way. Then there is picture of Rumble but named Frenzy.

Rumble is the Blue on , always has been..Frenzy was the Red...Did i miss something?

Again, If this has already been talked about , My bad.But can someone please set me straight if I am wrong? Thanks. :???:

In the original toyline, Rumble was always Red while Frenzy was blue, when the cartoons cam, they did the old switcheroo and called Frenzy Rumble and vice versa.

See, I never knew that. So the cartoons messed me up. Sucks though...I grew up liking Rumble but in reality his name was always Frenzy..lol.
Whatever, The Blue one!

Essentially, Rumble Is Red everywhere except in the US 'toon - in the original toyline, in the comics and in every 'homage' toy released since G1 ended. However, there's a certain section of the TF fanbase who will swear blind that the 1984 'toon is the defining instance of Transformers and that it supersedes everything else, before or since.

Don't worry about it, it's one of the oldest questions (read: arguments) in TF fandom... ;)

(Along with Who Would Win In A Fight Between Unicron And Galactus / The Death Star, Did Brawn Really Die In TF:TM and Wheelie... Just Why?)

ah, the old story of RIBFIR (Rumble Is Blue Frenzy Is Red) vs. RIRFIB (Rumble Is Red Frenzy Is Blue) and the toy companies never give a straight answer either... atacktix rumble is blue, alternators rumble is red, and even takara with their rumbles from galaxy force, they released a blue, a red, and a yellow just to mess with us.

Personally I subscribe to the RIBFIR theory.

I HEREBY DUB THE YELLOW RUMBLE... "SPANKY"!

I don't even want to think how many names one would need to give all those different-colored eBay knockoffs names.

Lol..wasnt sure if I was asking a stupid question.lol.

Glad too see there are a couple of people witht he RIBFIR theory, I am sorry, I grew up on the Toons here in the US so its hard for me to see Frenzy as the blue one.

BY the way, IMO...Galactus would beat the sh!t out of Unicorn, Brawn got owned in the movie and Wheelie..well..Wheelie..there is nothing to justify that..he is right there with Jar Jar..worthless.

heh heh, me and a mate have kicked lumps outta each other over this.

I love the way Dreamwave solved it by never refering to their names or have them apart, problem solved-let the fan boys fight over it!

Rumble is blue because everyone always mistakes him for Frenzy.

Rumble is Red, Frenzy is blue. See the old UK comic.

Kind reminds me of the argument I had with a friend over who was better; Go bots or Transformers.

...we ended up drawing Attacktix at dawn!

I don't even understand how this is an issue, all you have to ask yourselves is which came first? It's pretty simple really. Just because you "grew up on the cartoon" or "only saw the cartoon" is completely irrevelevant. The toys came first, therefore Rumble is red and Frenzy is blue because the toys came before the comics, the cartoon, or any of the G1 homages.

In the Energon cartoon they constantly switched Downshift and Cliffjumpers names but there's no doubt which figure is which. The G1 cartoon made a mistake, albiet a more consistant mistake than Energon, but a mistake nonetheless.

Its a fun issue if any. I dont care too much about the toys, not saying I am wrong or right, just that I always looked at Rumble as the Blue one. To me it will alway be that. Apparently,lol...I am not the only one.
Thanks for telling me what I think is irrelevant..but I like the way I am thinkining so..You think Rumble is red, I will say he is blue..and its all good.

This reminds me of a recurring debate we had on my Zoids forum back when the anime was still airing on CN. In the anime the Ultrasaurus was shown as being 20 times the size of standard Zoids, however the model kit is only about double the size of a medium Zoid.

Now, the model kit was released about 10 years prior to the anime even being created so there's no question that the anime incorrectly portrayed Ultra's size. However, there were a group of people on the forum that absolutely insisted that the anime version was the correct size and that the model kit was out of scale with the others. They defended this belief to the bitter end and no amount of logic and reasoning could persuade them.

This is pretty much the same thing here, just because you choose to believe something that is incorrect does not make it so. If you can provide a logical reason why the cartoon would be the deciding factor here even though the toys came first then please share it.

Dude, listen to your self..your getting heated over a toy?..lol. Okay, my logic and again, I never said anyone had to see it my way, but to me..growing up, as a kid in NY, I never knew of the Diaclone line or whatever came before the cartoon. I honestly didnt. My first intro in TFs was the cartoon. Not the toys. So in my "logic" wheter its right to you or not I always saw Rumble saying his name and turning his arms against the ground and making the ground under the Autobumps 'rumble'. SO now that I found out that in the toy line PRIOR to the USA cartoons which I grew up on and religiously watched, I am going to change my mind? why? What does it matter. I am just glad I didnt buy that Alternator thinking someone messed up and thinking I had a collectors item...LOL. SO, that is my logic. Honestly I can care less who is right or wrong.
So anyway, wasnt there also a toy know as something else before he became the ICON that is known as Soundwave. Should we all stop calling him that because the toy came first?
Relax bro..your going to blow a casket.

frenzy is blue to me, not navy, but a light blue almost
aqua.

and I like him better than rumble because the toy rumble
didn't have the stampers which is dumb anyway.

MM, that argument makes no sense. So what if the diaclone line came first. Did the Diaclone line have the names of the characters on it or did the names Rumble and Frenzy come into existance in the US line in preperation fro the cartoon?

That would make Rumble blue. !!!

This is like the old alt.transformers newsgroup of the early Nineties! The Dialcone toys didn't have TF names, no. Though the TF toys - not the Diaclone - did come before the cartoon, anyway. I think that was the argument, which isn't entirely unreasonable. That, by the by, would make Rumble red.

Whoops, sorry, I'm late. Got to get back to 2007. Can't spend all my time in 1985!

Point taken.

But why would this be the only instance where the cartoon consistently labeled a bot with the wrong name? There were animation and voice over discrepencies, sure, but they were minute and brief. Not lasting for the entire course of the series.

However, in the toy line, they confused Rumble and Frenzy's names on the packaging just as they confused the tech specs for Skywarp and Starscream.

Problem solved.

Rumble is blue.

Well, Sunbow probably made the mistake of animating Rumble as Frenzy then decided to stick with it, because they are such interchangeable characters anyway. In the cartoon, they even had the same voice/personality.

However, the case of Hasbro making a mistake with the names on the boxes, similar to the Seeker tech spec issue, is the best argument I've ever heard for Rumble being blue. I'd buy it. The only thing that would then suggest otherwise is Hasbro's use of the red and black scheme for Alt. Rumble. :-?
