Random TF toys thoughts..

Alright here we go-

(1.) Why cant we get one single voyager megatron that gets it right.. Either its smaller then voyager prime such as movie 1 & 2 voyager megs, or is missing hands, or has a terrible alt mode, or the cannon is too big.. Is it really that hard after all these years for hasbro/takara to give us one voyager megatron that gets it right.. I thought of this after looking at the new takara animated voyager megs.. I love this figure in bot mode, but the HUGE cannan ruins what could have been a great voyager megs (at least in bot mode).. Shrink the stinkin cannon down a few sizes, and how much better could this fig of been then.. Then Voyager ROTF megs,I dig his look, but no hands and being a shorty to voyager prime, another fail.. Ahh classics voyager megs, a stinken nerf gun? Cannon at wrong place on arm.. I could go on but you guys get my drift.. Guess its asking for too much, just one voyager megs that that gets it right.. Too much..

(2.) Speaking of Drift, anyone think generations classic 3.0 Drift is gonna be repainted into classic Jazz? Thats the first thing I thought of when seeing classics Drift..

(3.) O.K. animated Arcee GONE from shelves, but Cybertron Ratchet a shelf warmer.. Why didn't anyone at hasbro say " Hey, maybe we could have 2 hot sellers, with Arcee and Rodimus, OR Arcee and cybertron Ironhide (As I have heard that cyb ratchet is to be redone into ironhide) Why not give us ironhide FIRST, a definate hot seller, THEN give us ratchet later on.. But noooooo, instead cyb ratchet shelf warmes and hurts the chances of more animated comming to stores.. Its not rocket science, a new charactor, or a 2nd version of one we already have? Which is gonna sell better? Hasbro wants to make money right? Guess not..

(4.) Would it really have been too much to give us cheap hollow hands/fists and feet, instead of the energon weapons as hands feet for the energon "maximus" combiners.. YES I know the add on kits are out there.. BUT we shouldn't need them is the point.. NOT rocket science..

(5.) I look at my classics 2.0 tankor, and think my God does this feel like a knock off... The plastic.. It just seems to get weaker and weaker over the years.. (Especially with animated and classics 2.0 deluxe) I miss the 80s early 90s plastics..

Thanks for reading, just a TF fan venting, but still buying cause Im a TF addict lol

With the exception of GPS from the late 80s early 90s whenever that was, thats old school plastic we can do without.. lol

1) Well in the first movie, the Voyager Megatron was actually better than the Leader. The ROTF Voyager Megs was built off a CGI that wasn't used for the movie. Classic Megs has been a joke... well in all honesty every Megatron past Energon has been freaking brutal, regardless of the class size. Oh well, there's always TF3 and WFC

2) I really don't think Hasbro will be that unfaithful to the fanbase to make Jazz a repaint character. I think if there's going to be repaints off Drift, we'll be seeing Blurr because he's awfully close to Drift in the IDW AHM-verse.

3) Animated is technically a dead line right now. Arcee and CMR were set for release in April as TRU exclusives. It's not even mass released yet so don't worry about not getting the figure. It's just that Arcee is a female character, and the Hasbro PR thought that the figure wouldn't sell well, like Chromia and Arcee from ROTF. Oh well.

4) ROTF Energon repaints are just straight up repaints and haven't changed a thing. Regardless, they usually sell well and Hasbro doesn't really remold big figures like that.

5) The quality of plastic has been been an issue for ages. Ever since the the A/E/C toyline ended, we've gotten shittier and shittier plastic, in exchange for more complicated Transformations and pose ability. It's a trade off that some like, while others like myself don't like it. Oh well.

All in all, there's alot of things to complain about with Transformers toys, but let's be thankful that this franchise has lasted this long.

I know what you mean about Megatron, his figures are almost always a letdown. Hopefully his design won't change much in the next movie and we'll get a leader class Megatron that's as good as RotF Optimus and Starscream.

(1) While Megatron figures are always miss, I'm still glad we GET a megatron figure. Ani VOY Megatron was one of my favorite Megatron figures, actually. Where Animated was a rather interesting design for figures, I think Hasbro got Cybertron Megatron right.

(2) Jazz would be nice as a repaint or new mold, but I expect drift to be retooled/repainted into Springer.

(3) I understand where you're coming from on the Ironhide perspective, but that's for older fans of the series. How many people that are new to the series are going to know who Ironhide is? So I agree, and disagree with Habro on this.

(4) This was more of a venture for Hasbro. They went in knowing it might not work for the fans.

(5) Tankor is a rather bad choice to use for the entire Classics line. Almost all of the people I know have had problems with "Octane." As for Animated, it's Samurai Prowl that's giving me problems. I love the figure, don't get me wrong, but damn, he can get annoying.

Random TF toys thoughts huh? I'm in!

• G1 Scorponok instruction sheets are too damn expensive!
• G1 Scorponok's little buddy Fasstrack's guns are even more bloody expensive than the instructions!
• G1 Doubledealer really is a brick and makes G1 Stalker look limber.
• ROTF Brawn is a freaking awesome figure.
• ROTF Lockdown is infinitely superior to Animated Lockdown
• G1 Stalker infinitenly superior to anything Animated. :P

I disagree. This is the case with ROTF but my 07 Voyager can barely stand. And the transformation just isn't worth the effort.

I think you mean the Leader toy. The voyager has a perfect alt mode and a great robot mode if you ignore the backpack. The leader is just a travesty.

You're f--kin' innocent...

Anyway:
1. I just noticed today... Animated Starscream has sharks on his missiles.
2. I always hate transforming RoTF Jetfire. It's not hard per se, it's just such a hassle.
3. I only regret buying one figure, and that's Blazemaster. I heard he was crap, but I didn't listen...

1. I like Classics Megatron. I think Animated leader Megatron is a great figure as well.
2. Hasbro better not insult fans by making Jazz a repaint of another toy. That would be terribly disappointing.
3. Ironhide should have been first. Not that Ironhide had a big role in the cartoon, but I want that figure.
4. As a collector, I wish they would have made new figures for the Universe combiners. The repaints of the Energon figures do the job though.
5. I guess I don't play with the indivual figures ebough to really comment on their durability. I haven't really had any problems with any of them.

My random thoughts.

Decepticons need more cars. They have jets, tanks, missile tanks, shuttles, guns, cassette tapes, construction vehicles, and star fighters, but very few cars. What few cars they have usually are repaints of Autobot cars.

I think Shattered Glass was made to simply get me to buy black repaints of figures that I had previously overlooked

Fans will riot if Blitzwing doesn't get a Classics-style figure soon.

Autobots lack a really good troop-building figure. The closest one to that bill would be Aveo Swerve (IMO of course) but we all know how bloody difficult he is to get ahold of

Agree with the disagree regarding 07 Megs...quite possibly the worst figure I own. The metallic one at least looks ok, but the mold sucks and the regular release looks pretty crappy to boot.

Why is it acceptable to ignore scale?

I know the Diaclone cars and Seekers weren't exactly to scale but they still didn't look out of place together. The modern Deluxe cars look ridiculous next to the deluxe jets.

The cars should be Basics. Strongarm is proof that a Basic can be awesomely poseable. I'm so sick of not having Basic versions of Movie Barricade to face off against G1 Prowl. Would kill for a Basic version of Movie Bumblebee, Energon Prowl and Armada Sideswipe (no that was not a typo).

Oh yes, Movie Bonecrusher and Classics Tankor/Octane should be Voyagers!!!

Why are so many obvious repaints ignored?

Tidal Wave as Broadside

Clocker as Hot Rod though perhaps with a removeable roof/ spoiler that fits into the gun port in car mode to make him more G1 and can be used as a shield in bot mode.

Energon Divebomb as Banzai-tron

Classics Sunstorm and Seeker Drones

Robotmasters Mirage as Dragstrip

RID Magnus as Motormaster

Defence Hot Shot as Ruckus

Titanium Seeker as Windsweeper

OK, so the Motormaster, Ruckus, Windsweeper and Banzai-tron are not as obvious unless you're me but I'd still love them.

Did you know that G1 Ultra Magnus can hold the Skyboom shield on his arm?

Sorry to interrupt, but one thing I can NOT understand has just been stated:

Cars as Basics.

No. Just no. Because if cars are basics, what do we do with motorcycles, forklifts, beast modes, and other non-equipment type vehicles that are much smaller than cars, make them Legends only?

I say it should be:

Legends or Minicon: Toys, motocross bikes, etc.

Basic: Motorcycles, beast modes other than the massive megafauna, etcetera

Deluxe: Cars, speedboats, larger beast modes like hippos and such, pickup trucks.

Voyager: Trucks, smaller helicopters, vans, elephants and dinos, etc

Ultra: Fighter jets, large panel vans and the like (such as a modern fire truck), light armored vehicles and APC's, etc

Leader: 18 wheelers with integrated trailers, larger jets, main battle tanks, etcetera.

Supreme: Cargo jets (like Cybertron Jetfire), smaller Naval vessels, small fortress types.

On one hand, I can understand wanting all cars to be Basics so their car mode would be sized right with the G1's, but on the other hand, cars have been usually Deluxes for over a decade now. It's time to size up, guys. :P

I know I'm living in the past but I'll take G1 Prowl over Classics Prowl any day. Plus having gotten Encore Ironhide and the custom clip on head for him, I'm a huge fan of Ironhide's G1 toy now. These modern deluxe cars look ridiculous next to the deluxe jets (most of whom I love). I'm not faulting the designs just the scaling or lack of.

Plus Basics would be cheaper. Energon Strongarm and the Laser Rods are proof that a Basic car can look great and have great articulation.

You are correct that it's the G1 Diaclone cars that influence me. Believe me, the Stunticons used to annoy me as a kid because Motormaster looked ridiculous next to Optimus, especially since his tech specs suggested a rivalry there.

Didn't mean to rant or offend, I'm just passionate about the Basics and Diaclones.

It's just occurred to me as you mention Legends which I'm afraid I'm not a fan of but referring back to the repaint issue, after the size, my main problem with Legends is that they get the cool repaints instead of their larger counterparts.

Who hasn't looked at Legends Blades, Sunstorm and Ramjet and wished them for their larger selves?
