I never saw the cartoon so i never sought them out but now i have an interest and was wondering why the high prices???
Are they rare due to being only japan releases or were just made in small numbers due to the lack of demand at that time since it was the last transformer cartoon??
For those owners is it one of your favourites??? What would you rate him???

I have them both:

The high prices, which really aren't all that high considering how old and big the toys are, result from the following:

-importing large items is difficult
-large TFs do tend to have lower production numbers
-Star Saber and Victory Leo are a bit delicate. They're sturdy, but they have both white parts which tend towards yellowing and fragile parts that break without care

I like Victory Leo best. He's unlike any other transformer and he has lance-guns. His alt mode is truely beastly.

Victory Saber is quite nice, but he's got a bit of Gundam on him. He's also the one you'll feel most nervous about as he has fragile bits and tight joints.

Good luck with your hunt.

oh...moving this to its proper forum...

I have a yellowed, scratched up StarSaber with KO accessories. I really like him. He's a very impressive brick. And, I gotta admit, I totally dig the brainmaster gimmick he has going for him.

I don't have them........yet. I've really gotten into the Japanese G1 series here lately. In fact Overlord, Deathsaurus, Star Convoy, and Sky Garry are supposed to be delivered today.

I have the RobotMasters versions, both regular and the black versions, but that's probably not what you're looking for.

Though they do fit well with the Classics line

I had a totally mint, crystal-white MIB G1 Starsabre. Biggest dissapointment in my collection at the time. To wrap up -

- Nice large bot mode, but I prefered PM Prime.
- Play value only (at best) as good as PM Prime.
- Has several joints on the Jet Plane part of the toy that feel very fragile.
- Brainmaster gimmick is an okay idea, but I'd have prefered a Headmaster.

Over all, it's a fair figure - but I don't think the price it commands is worth the quality you actually receive. If you're a completist, then I say go for it, but if you're looking for a fun toy to have the odd mess with, stick with either PM Prime or don't bother at all. Definately just a collectors piece.

I got mine MISB from "Mad About Toys" in Redondo beach CA around the late '90s. I paid a pretty penny ( 300 ea, but he let me send a bit at a time over a few months! ) for them, but they are some of my favorite Japan-only pieces. Star Saber has a few different modes, from individual jet/robot, to booster version, and then to a nice big superbot. Sort of like a modern day Op with the combining trailer for super mode.
V-Leo is very brickish, yet as mentioned before, has a wicked alt mode, and comes with a lot of large guns, the biggest of which I have balanced on his arm like a rifle.
Add to all that the fact that Star Saber and Victory Leo combine and you have a recipe for ultimate WIN!

I have both and they are awesome! Also, when combined they are one of the largest TFs next to Fortress Maximus.

I am lucky enough to have a Victory Leo separate in beast mode like CP said it is AWWESOME, and a combined Star Saber and Victory Leo also on display as Victory Saber!

Well worth what is asked of them these days. Excellent toys.

Nope, but I want them so badly. I was just stuck in a bidding war for the Robot Masters versions, which are also pretty expensive for what they are.

So. Who wants to help me rob Counterpunch? We can split the spoils 50/50, as long as I get his Victory Saber. ;)
