MP Prime question

I don't know much about the different versions of MP Prime, but I have a question.

These two Primes are listed at big bad toy store, aside from the price, are they basically the same toy? or something different? They are both described as MP toys.

I notice the difference in color of weapons and some battle damage.

For all intents and purposes they are the very same toy. Only Paint, box, some add-ons and release date differentiate between the 2 figures.

The first link is the DVD version. Sadly it has no DVD (for mysterious marketing reasons), but features a more "orangey" paint scheme. Gun is blue instead of black.
and Has an Electronic Stand.

The second link is the previous release, a redder, but battle damaged paint scheme, Gun is Black. No stand.

Erm... wasn't the DVD release a bit LATER than the "battle damage" release?

Yup sorry about that. The DVD versions was available in 2006, whie the Battle Damage Version was available in 2004.

I'll fix that now.

Also the DVD edition had an electronic Stand.

For me, the 20th anniv version is the best - the red is great and the gun is the right colour (black). It took me a while of comparing Seibs galleries to spot the difference when I was shopping for one.

Thank you very much for the comparison. I ordered the orange one because i found an opened one for $50 on BBTS. He is in good condition and has all the pieces EXCEPT the megatron pistol is missing its gun stock. I thought the $50 was cheap.

I wonder if I could find or improvise a replacement pistol stock...... any ideas anyone? haha

I have a friend who is selling me the 20th anni. edition for $50 also. Only thing is this one is missing his axe. Other than that he is in very nice condition. Have fun with yours cause I know I will with mine.

That gun stock is probably the worst bit about breaking.

Maybe get a WST Megatron to replace it? Then it could actually transform, too! :D

That would be funny, the WST Megatron is probably too big for that?

That has me wondering, is there much of a difference in size between the MP Primes mini Megatron gun and WST Megatron?

In actuality, there's very little size difference at all between the MP Convoy prop, and WST Megs.

The problem is that WST Megs doesn't have the diagonal slide that lets the prop's legs get narrower, so he really can't hold it well at all.

I wouldn't worry about the missing gun part, it just gets in the way anyway. For $50 these days I'd say it's a great deal. At least you're not missing the axe - that's a very cool accessory!

I got the DVD version at TRU back in 06. Only time I ever saw the MP/20th Ann. mold on shelves. The lighter red is fine in my book, still looks cool next to MP Megs, and I like the absence of chromed parts, which I find always chip too easily on me. The blue gun was a bit of an issue, but nothing a quick black spray job couldn't handle. In fact my only complaint about the figure itself is the eyes. Compare the DVD version's flat blue eyes to the eyes on the regular 20th Prime or any of the Masterpiece versions. The original versions have much more depth to them. I've never seen them up close so I can't comment on their construction, but they look so much better.
