Unlisted step in Barricade's transformation

Sorry if this has already been brought up.
I picked up Barricade at Wal-Mart last night and after I transformed him I was left wondering why the pieces along the top of his shoulders have a ball joint but it doesn't show anything being done with them in the instructions. I looked on Seibertron's galleries and he's got them just how they are on the box, then I looked at the full CGI pic and I realized there's actually an unlisted step in the transformation sequence.
This is how the instructions show it:

Look at the render:

You can clearly see the tire is on the inside and the little hook piece at the very top of the shoulder is pointing downward.
This is how his shoulders are supposed to look:

I like this look a lot better, now his arms don't look like one giant slab.

It does look better, actually. It breaks up his sides/arms a bit more.

Same, thats how I do mine and it does look a lot better than just the side panel of a car.
I also angle mine down a little bit.

That looks much better. Before he kind of looked like Alt Rumble with pile driver arms.

Now if there were just a missing step in any of the Frenzy figures to make them look better....
Nope, impossible to make them look better!

I did that with mine as well. Now if only there was a missing tranformation to keep his massive upper body from crushing his puny legs. I couldnt get mine to stand under his own weight.

Yeah, I picked up on that too - if they weren't supposed to do that, there wouldn't be ball joints there. He looks much more 'balanced' with the top panels in different positions, instead of one big slab of a side of a car for an arm.
EDIT: And if you look closely on the inside of those top panels, you can see how they've been molded to resemble the design of the movie model.

Also, anyone notice the little flaps on Bonecrusher's shoulders that flip up? What the heck are those for?

That's how I have my Barricade too. It looks much better. I didn't even realize the instructions were missing a step.

Just got my Barricade. He does look pretty sweet.
I had trouble transforming him too. Especially back to car mode!

Yup. That's it, just angle the pieces down more.

Castle74, thank you for that image, that was just the size comparison I've been looking for!
