At times, even perfection needs to be reconstructed. The great figure that is Masterpiece-01 Optimus Prime/Convoy has been re-engineered by third party iGear and released under the moniker of Faith Leader. For those who have ever wanted a Voyager sized Masterpiece Optimus Prime, this figure's what you've been waiting for. Courtesy of ACToys, we've got an extensive look at Faith Leader's packaging, the figure itself, and comparisons to the original.

It looks ok but I am not buying it. There are so many other things out this year like Protector, Warbot, Bruticus upgrades and DL Blaster. I would rather have them displayed on my shelves.

It's really an exceptional knock-off. I may have to buy one.

It's too bad he's already sold out. :-(

I must admit, that looks really good. I still find it completely wrong as it's blatant theft of a product (not to mention one that's still readily available in the re-release of MP-04) but wow, it does look nice.

Yeah, I gotta admit it looks good too, but I'm quite happy with the MP Prime I already have, thanks. Plus it's a knockoff, and an expensive one at that.

I'm betting they'll make more. If not, I'm sure I'll get by with my Classics, Henkei, and MP versions.

Why Faith Leader? I'm sure it's not a significant thing, but I'm just curious about the name. Or is it an Engrish kinda thing?

This can be explained in so many ways it's not even funny. From the language point of view however, it can be a simple mix-up. In Japanese, one of the pronunciations (not words) for "faith" is shin. However, it's also used for "new" and "true", among other words.

I'm pretty sure once Hasbro or TakaraTomy sees this they'll really sink their teeth in it. This is just crossing the line dividing third party accessories and figures and plain rip-offs. I know the WST Dinorobots were no better (if slightly), but this seals the deal:

- Motto is clearly ripped from Optimus Prime's
- Tech Specs are copied from Hasbro's specs down to the names, including "Fireblast"

Don't get me wrong, I'm not condemning it, but I'm not condoning it either.

Fair enough. I just bought Season 3 of G1 today, and I'm excited about seeing the whole return of Prime episode becuase I have only fragmentary memories of it from childhood. Maybe I have Prime and resurrection on the brain, and that was like, affecting my process. Sorry, but thanks for the clarification. It honestly makes a whole lotta sense.

Their Shop site says in stock again for the standard version but it's confirmed they're not at checkout. I am actually hoping the restock this but e-store errors like this do make me a bit nervous and question if I should be buying from them or not.

Well now it's back to saying Out of Stock though I got some info from the i-Gear chat box that they will be releasing more between June and July. :D

Despite my initial skepticism, I wound up emailing them and found them to be responsive and very helpful-so I picked one up. I just like the scale of this figure so much compared to my Classics Prime. Should have it in a week or so and will post my thoughts and some pictures (not that we haven't already seen enough).

I hope we see more of Megatron soon.

I can't even imagine that. As fragile as the real one is, the KO just doesn't sound like it would be a quality product.

That's a pretty good size next to MP Grimlock. It looks good, in terms of size - it'd probably look crap next to the other MPs, though.

Yeah all because of the scale he matches in so nicely with the classics figures though I guess that's maybe half of everyone's reason for buying him or wanting him, and can't wait to hear some more thoughts on him.
