Back in the latter half of 2009, fans were going nuts over the world's first repaint of Revenge of the Fallen Optimus Prime, Takara's Buster Optimus Prime. To this day, Hasbro has yet to reciprocate Takara's hit Leader class release. The main differences between the original Prime and Buster Prime has to be the heavy chrome job, and movie-accurate gun. Site sponsor TFsource puts Buster Optimus Prime under the spotlight with their unique style of reviews. Check it out on Youtube or embed below!

I'm about 98% done with my own leader Prime repaint, and have put a lot of time into noticing details in concept art and the toy molds. this version has many much-needed improvements over the Hasbro release, like...
*silver instead of gray
*more detailed paint apps on head (of debatable accuracy) & flames
*formerly red "sternum" is now molded silver
*red parts with silver lights behind the visors
*silver paint transitions on the forearms
*nicer swords
*formerly red toe parts are now molded silver
*blue "shoelace" paint apps

but...
*red collar should have been molded silver as well as "sternum" (that had also been red in US release)
*back parts of shoulders are still molded in red, but should be silver
*missing blue bands on biceps
*joints should have gold rings
*side mirrors should have silver paint apps
*bottom of door & cab parts should have a silver stripe
*blue toolbox piece should have been molded in silver with red paint around front fenders (less screen-accurate, but much better looking on vehicle mode)

having just spent so much time and effort on my own version, I won't be buying this or the faceplated 2-pack version... unless something just as good (or better) comes out in the US for TF3.

PS: if anyone has advice on a red paint for the blue parts behind the visors, PM me!
