I have been collecting primes for the last 2 years and it suddendly dawn on me that it will be interesting to share my own opinion on the top 5 primes ever produced.

First - Masterpiece Prime

Second - ROTF Leader Prime

Third - RID Prime (Super mode)

Fourth - G2 Laser Prime

Fifth - Galaxy Convoy

Anyone interested to share your own thoughts on best prime figures? Anyone disagree with my ranking

I have all but Masterpiece Prime from your list, but I agree with you nonetheless. You have very good taste my good man.

Its probably just my nostalgia, and the fact that I was never able to own one as a kid, but now as a collector I have the pleasure of owning G1 Prime and he should be at the top of the list I think.

I think u got it right!!

Here's how I would rate my top 5 Primes:

1. Masterpiece - the absolute best one, only hampered by it's size.

2. Cybertron Prime - lots, and I mean lots of play features. You get a cool truck mode, a basic robot mode, a battle station mode, a super mode and 2 combined modes. This is a superb toy.

3. RID Prime - pretty much the same reasons as Cybertron Prime, but since he only has one combined mode, I'll rate him lower.

4. ROTF Buster Prime - despite being a shellformer and having a terrible combined mode, he is a great looking toy, plus having both swords and his gun is a cool feature.

5. Powermaster Optimus Prime - like Cybertron Prime and RID Prime, lots of play features and a cool combined mode.

I did have a lot of fun with Actionmaster Optimus as a kid.

In no particular order:

Device Label Optimus Prime- That new head on the G1 body is beautiful.

Reissue Star Convoy- If you have one, you know why. If not, you'll never understand...

MP-01 Convoy- The first and best Masterpiece.
Animated Voyager Optimus Prime- The ax from the 2-pack makes it perfect. You know, until the Wingblade Optimus comes out!

Henkei Convoy- I love love love the Classics Optimus and have put a lot of play wear on him but the Henkei one is just better to look at on the shelf and never touch. The mold is great in all its uses.

RiD Optimus Prime- Minus the stupid articulation-ruining armor. I still don't understand why people insist that the armor is an improvement. It's like throwing a berka on a Victoria's Secret model! And with Armada Leader Prime's cannon, holy CRAP is that cool!

BONUS ROUND!!!
eHobby Orion Pax- I have a custom accurate head and the Reprolabels upgrade on it. Seriously, it's one of the coolest things I own and the only other person who has one like it is Lapse of Reason.

Great choices! In my book, I'd only replace G2 Laser Prime with Music Label G1 Prime (in anime colors), like ZodConvy mentioned. He has the iconic G1 Prime body, plus a resculpted toon-accurate head... just need to add G1 trailer on him, and he's golden. I wouldn't choose Laser Rod because I like the mold better as RID Scourge (pure awesome).

I'd also specify MP-04 Perfect Edition Convoy for Masterpiece Prime (because I love the trailer addition, and maybe a Battle Rollar thrown in for completion), and Buster edition for ROTF leader Prime, for that amazing gun, swords, paint job and chrome... practically perfect!

I have to agree with the majority of Prime rankings listed. I'll just give my own list anyway. I'm not really that big of a Prime fan (I like the guy and all, but I'm more of a Starscream, Nemesis Prime, Bruticus, and Devastator fanboy). However, looking at my collection I have about 17 Prime figures...so Has/Tak must be doing something right with him.

1. Masterpiece Prime (I own the Black Convoy repaint and I love it. I passed the chance to get the DVD MP Prime for 50 bucks and I kick myself over that to this day....)

Only have 1 and 3 on that list myself. Not a huge fan of ROTF(/movie in general) Prime design. I actually don't own all the Primes that I think look best, so I may be missing some stuff here, but I'm going mostly on what looks good.

1-MP Prime. A bit big, but otherwise fantastic.

2-THS Prime. A bit small, but otherwise fantastic.

3-RiD Omega Prime. am I cheating? RiD Op is great but with Magnus in the mix it all gets even better

4-Armada Super-Duper Extreeeeme mode Prime. y'know the one, with Jetfire and Overload/Ultra Magnus add-ons, and a whole planet's worth of Mini-Cons attached, sheer OTT joy!

5-Henkei Prime. I disliked the Classics Prime at first (bought the one with Tank Megs instead, on purpose!), but the repaint, and seeing him more made me reconsider. I'd like to pick up the reissue.

Honourable Mention-Energon Prime. No, not that one. The Deluxe one, if only for the novelty of combining him with so many of his troops.

I'd like to add an honourable mention for the dual missile launcher toting, black trailer hauling, blatant name displaying, bad mutha that is the first G2 Optimus Prime.
I just love that old sound box he came with... "MMH HMM HMMPTHMMS PRHHM!!"

I dont like Masterpiece Prime much, hes way too big and he has way too many acessories.. I played with him a couple of times and now his pieces are scattered somewhere where I dont know where.

1. Powermaster Prime/God Ginrai.
2. Alternity Prime.
3. Choro Q Prime.
4. Masterpiece Prime (probably, I don't have him).
5. 1984 Prime.

What's so great about Masterpiece Prime????
Yes, I am completely serious.

But I know the TFTM one and Cybertron one's were very good.

Not counting the huge nostalgia factor, MP Prime has great articulation, die cast metal, a removable matrix, working suspension on all of his wheels, show accuracy, a full compliment of weapons and a bunch of little details that add play value, such as the flip-out communicators and a moving mouth plate.

1.G1 Optimus Prime/iPod G1 color Optimus Prime [Same body different head]

2.Masterpiece Convoy 01[sort of like the big daddy version of iPod Optimus Prime] and THS-02[his size and vehicle mode is my only complaint]

3.Toss up between God Ginrai and Star Convoy [functionality and a lot of bonus features] ditto zodconvoy

4.Galaxyforce Convoy (the most proportional supermode ever)

5.Fire Convoy/GodMagnus combo

The first G1 prime truly is an inspritational figure that brought us the Prime we knew and love , however as a figure judging from a modern aesthetic standpoint of view , Masterpiece Prime truly ranks supreme. Masterpiece Prime articulation, gimmicks and overall proportion makes it the best ever and faithful reproduction of the image we see in the G1 carton. Thus rnaking it as a best prime is defintely a no brainer

A contraversial answer from Mykltron:

1) THS-02

2 & 3) 07 leader Prime and ROTF leader Prime. One is more accurate, the other has better proportions and poseability (ROTF Prime has hip limiters inside the rotation joint. Easily removed but annoying). Tough decision!

4) MP Prime

5) RiD for his combination and two robot modes and awesome super mode appearance.

It's generally agreed that most Pptimus Prime figs are great, so a top 5 seems redundant.
Let's go bottom 5 instead.

5 - Kiss Players Convoy
4 - Universe Spychanger Optimus Prime
3 - Machine Wars Oprimus Prime
2 - Powermaster Optimus Prime
1 - Armada Super Base Optimus Prime

MP Prime's not only probably the best Prime, it's also probably the best TF toy... ever. A few small problems, but otherwise... it's awe-inspiring. It's close to perfect. it is Optimus Prime.

My top five?

1. MP Prime. Best MP, best Prime, almost best TF.

2. Classics Prime. A great update to G1 Prime. Some nice weapons and aesthetics. It's Prime for the 21st century!

3. Optimal Optimus. Big, great gimmicks, cool alt modes and very show-accurate.

4. G1 Prime. Admittedly for nostaliga, but also because it's got good articulation for its time, a trailer and it paved the way for Primes.

5. Cybertron Prime. Best of the Unicron trilogy Primes. Great gimmicks, good 'base robot' mode, as nujevad said. Great super mode with articulation that's not limited. Nice base. Very versatile.

I want to know whats so great about him too. The regular G1 Prime is so much better to me. I lost all of MP Prime,s parts, including his head, Mine's legs are jammed, so he cant TF into a truck (It came like that.) hes big as crap, heavy as crap, and the only good thing is that he comes with a Matrix.
