Well I just started hitting up ebay , looking for for 2 of my "grails" so to speak. The first Night I got lucky and found 3 different Auctions for Shattered glass OP ..I was feeling good when I noticed one of the auctions had 10 hours to go and I had the high bid at $75..Even by my standards that is alot even for a exclusive but I have to have this Fig!!!!

I decided to take a break from watching the screen to feed myself, this is where it gets bad, more like RIDICULOUS

In a matter of 20 minutes I return with some scrumptious vittles ready to win my SG OP but instead..To my horror..the Auction high big was....ready....

$551....

I literally crumpled into my chair, deafeated and downright pissed off.. Is this figure really so sought after that someone would bid $551 bucks on it!!?!?!?!?

Next in my line of ebay horror, not so much a story of defeat but rather coming to terms that I'll never get this set.. FP Shadow commander..wherever you are..

I'm a jerk, and I've got decent disposable income. So when I go after a figure, I'll just keep applying money to solve the problem. It's the American way.

I know I missed the boat on a lot of figures the first time around, and I've been playing catch up, which is more costly, but I'm also no longer making that mistake.

Remember, you've got to pay to play.

Although, there have been two sets of Microns in the last month that I just couldn't commit to spending what I should have spent to win them. I made some assumptions about how much a set would sell for, and I assumed poorly. I sniped and it just wasn't enough. I'll know for next time, and I will apply a suitably ridiculous amount of money to them to win.

I'm thinking Botcon Antagony will never be seeing my shelf.

While I was game to maybe go past the $100 mark I figured $75 was a safe bet but $551?!? That's alot of disposable income LOL.... Now on a side note I did pay to play on a Fire convoy MISB for 79.99..I hadn't found him for less than $100 until the other night when I found a Buy it now for $75.00 shipped..It is 1 day away

As for Shadow commander..I'm slowly coming to terms with the fact I'll have to get the KO to even come close to it....

Not counting the Lucky Draws, these items will probably never be mine (1 is a definite), but that doesn't stop me from wanting them one way or another:

Masterforce Black Zarak
For a very obvious reason: Gold Plastic Syndrome <insert evil music here>. Should I manage to actually obtain one for cheap, broken or not, I'm gonna look for a Scorponok junker to replace all of the gold plastic parts once the time comes.

Masterforce Grand Maximus
I already want Fortress and Brave, this is the more redundant version, despite the shell. I may have to settle for a PVC figurine for both Black Zarak and Grand.

Zone Sky Hyper and Landshaker
Very rare buggers, the Japanese repaints of the Skyhopper and Groundshaker bases. Let me add Rabbicrater in there for good measure. Yes, I love Micromasters.

What will I never get that I actually want?

I'm not as big a collector as som ... I have just one Botcon set (purchases recently), no Lucky Draws, and no rare G1 stuff. I think the rarest TF I have is the Bug General.

I think Superlink Galvatron G is the only one on my list that has reached "just not worth it" status. I already have Energon galvatron, so I have the mold. The colors on the guy aren't as great, IMHO, as Energon Galvatron, so whenever I see him on ebay he tends to be just overpriced enough that I just can't bring myself to get him. I keep hoping I'll find him incomplete and, therefore, cheaper.

Another is Convoy Perfect edition. Again, I have the 20th MP Prime and even though the Megatron gun broke and the paint on the legs chipped it's just overpriced enough for me not to be able to justify the buy. My shelf space is VERY limited, so the trailer would just go into storage. So there's no real point to getting it ... ugh. I want it, though.

Lastly would be the Kiss Players Sparkbots. The Kiss Players has some wierd stuff, which is part of the appeal. Unfortunately, this set is extrelely limited. Around $500+ last time I checked. And, no matter how awsomely strange they are ... they are just not worth $500+. I'd feel ripped off paying $100+ for them for what they are, truthfully, but I'd be willing to pay that. Five times that amount? Just no freakin' way. On the plus side I did locate a KO of Zangetsu (or the mold anyway), which I bought quickly.

I don't think any TF figures are outside the realm of possibility of me owning except maybe the lucky draws, which I have no interest in anyway. As far as collecting hobbies go TF is still pretty affordable.

Not that I can't afford them. Just wouldn't justify the money they go for.

My wants are not too extravagant. I would love to have some of the japanese stuff like liokaiser, Dezarus, I have Star Saber, but would love a victory Leo, Overlord, and landcross. I have spent a butt load of money on transformers in the last year trying to catch up, more than my brain is willing to admit and my savings account screams but it's never enough and there is sooo much transformers awesomeness out there.

There are so many that I will never get, I just don't have the money. I could always save up for some of the figures, but even then I find it hard to justify to myself. About the only way I could get any of the rarer TFs that I really want would be to win the lottery... I'm not counting on it.

Managed to get a Fire Convoy at US$ 22.00 on ebay. Box in a C6-C7, the plastic tray all cracked but the bot itself............C9!

To answer the question: G1 Black Zarak. I won't buy a rare toy that falls apart of its own accord.

I've said it a thousand times, but I REALLY want a complete Dawn of Future's Past boxset (with Tigatron, Megatron, and Waspinator). However, the sky high prices that Megatron and Waspinator go for alone pretty much ensure I'll never get the complete set. The cheapest I saw the set go for was in the upper 600 range, and it was missing Dinobot (my favorite character) and ofcourse it didn't include Tigatron, Waspinator and Megatron. I'd love to have a display with the Botcon characters next to their Beast Wars counterparts, but I'm almost positive that'll never happen because the prices just keep on rising.

That *&^%$#@! unreleased G2 ATB Megatron... There's no way in the universe my wife (or myself) would ever let me shell out that amount of cash for a figure. Maybe I'll just settle for an RID Dreadwind & Smokejumper (I can just pretend it's Megs & Screamer). My Megs collection will just have to remain forever incomplete.

Fortunately for me, my narrow scope of interest keeps my collecting inside my budget constraints. I'm not really interested in anything outside of G1, Movie-verse, or Animated. I haven't read a TF comic book since Dreamwave went under and I probably wouldn't unless it was G1 related. I have no interest in variant figures (re-paints) that don't spawn new characters. (I.E. new/different seeker characters are ok however, ghost Starscream isn't for my collection unless I can get it for next-to-nothing, dirt cheap.)

This keeps my collection small, yet focused. In turn, this also makes no figure truly unattainable. There are some figures that I'm interested in that I don't have right now that are pretty pricey such as the Hasbro MP Starscream, or Henkei T-cracker and Skywarp but most will agree that these figures certainly are not unattainable.
