Sadly, yes. However, their complaints for that figure make much, much more sense than what's been said here. When Hasbro and FunPublications charge you an arm and a leg for a set of figures, then TakaraTomy does basically the same thing, but for a lot less, and then Hasbro comes back around and gives you pretty much the same figure (though I've debated that...) for only $10.00, I can understand why folks would be upset about that. That sounds reasonable..

You don't know what you're talking about. I deleted it because there was already news about Thrust that I posted 4 months ago.

Er...yes I do. My response was to his question: Is the controversy enough to get a thread closed. I said yes it's bad enough to do that. I didn't say that's why you closed the thread. I made no claims to that effect. I answered his question in general, not specific terms.

Could that controversial topic close a thread? Yes.
Did it close that specific thread? Apparently not, but I hadn't claimed it did.

You seem a bit angry with this post here...is there a reason why?

Rated X is referencing a thread that was removed as a Moderator action due to people getting personal and nasty in it.

Don't get me wrong, Hasbro gets it right plenty of times too but by the same token, I've wasted my money on enough figures to consider myself even with Hasbro and I don't think I owe them a single dime of my money.

You never owed Hasbro any money, you chose to give it to them in exchange for a representation of a fiction you enjoy

joesaysso wrote:Clearly, there are some Liberals and some Conservatives here when it comes to the knock-off issue. I like to think of myself as "middle of the road". I understand how a potential collector could be duped into buying a knock-off when they are looking for the real thing. On the other hand, if a knock-off is sold with full discretion as a knock-off its less harmful.

less harmful to who, the purchaser? Hasbro? all of the vintage collector's? you really arent making sense, and please dont make this a political thing, if you think that people are defined by their political leanings, that lends no credibility to your argument or lack of one.

joesaysso wrote:Yeah, all of the tree huggers could spout off about intellectual properties and such and they would be absolutely right. But the knock-offs are NOT hurting Hasbro. The companies who make the knock-offs are getting money from Hasbro's property, this is true, but they aren't costing Hasbro any money.

So because I want creator's intellectual properties to be protected I am a tree hugger? Being concerned about the environment makes someone a loser? You think the people defending intellectual property rights are correct but you still feel the need to insult them? You really dont have a leg to stand on at this point. If you are trying to make a point, do it, dont step on people with this political nonsense. Metroplex was KO'ed, and released officially by Takara, that didnt cost the TF brand money???

joesaysso wrote:If anything, the knock-offs are keeping properties that Hasbro isn't doing anything with right now relevent. Hasbro is smart enough to know where they stand.

Are you serious? You think hasbro and takara have meetings about the future of their brand, and put a check next to G1 relevance because KO manufacturers are producing copies? Please think before you post. So far you have insulted people on both sides by reducing them to a political leaning, And you have undermined the opinion of anyone advocating intellectual property rights. Do yourself a favour and consider both sides, not just yourself. If you have something relevant to post, people will care, the drivel you just posted was nothing but small minded.

Stop it.

Even if that is the case (I'm not saying that), you undermine what you say by resorting to stating it as such.

Does anyone want this to remain around as a point of discussion or have we run our course?

Shut it down, man. We all know where we stand on this, for better or worse ;)

Can't we wait until the real flame war begins?

It's been a while since I've seen a good flame war on Seibs. :(

:edit: Forgot to mention - that was a joke.
