Pictorial Review of Movie Sidearm Sideswipe

If you watched Cyber Missions #7 and were wondering why Sideswipe was wielding guns, it's because of his new figure in the upcoming Hunt For the Decepticons toy line! Revealed at the 2010 Toy Fair, Sideswipe's swords have been replaced by two hand guns. Sideswipe's alternate mode has bursts of red on the hood, red windows, and different feet. Other than that, Sidearm Sideswipe is a simple remold of Revenge of the Fallen Deluxe Sideswipe. Thanks to TFW2005 member Red Leader, we get a short review of the figure. Check out some of the images below..

Looks like Sideswipe got the Cannon Bumblebee treatment: only the torso and head are intact from the first two figures. Not getting him though, the original Sideswipe is good enough for me. Now give us a Sunstreaker!

I like the guns and the new feet that he can actually stand on. Too bad they ruined it with the red paint and red windows.

Doesn't this mean he has even more kibble on the back?

Yeah, this guy is a total pass for me. The design just doesn't capture the coolness of Sideswipe for me. Sunny would be awesome though, as long as they use the old deluxe mold. The feet on this one just don't seem right

I was planning to get the Human Alliance Sideswipe only, but since I saw this, I may change my mind. Looks better with the pistols... :APPLAUSE:

While this is a pass for me, I wouldn't mind seeing this being made into a "Dawn of Future's Past" version of BW Depth Charge. 8)

No thanks.

Repaints of characters who are defined in only one way on screen are not something that I need in any capacity.

The red has to go.

YES! Awesome! I dont like the original Sideswipe cuz his arms and legs arnt movie accurate at all and mines legs are loose. But this one the only thing I dont like is the red paint. But I'll just paint the whole thing. This one is way more movie accurate! He even has the front of the car for hands!

Nice figure but would've preferred if it was just metallic silver.

I could've sworn that those back panels could become swords...
Oh well. I think I'll pick him up.

I like the guns, but I'm not digging the red or the chunky forearms. Pass.

However, paint him blue with white racing stripes, white head and red face, and he becomes insta-buy. Even the first version would work. Do it, Hasbro. You know you want to.

Side note: If they ever repaint him in black, I'm totally buying him just so I can do a head swap with Swerve, and have a proper movie Sideswipe. Swerve's head is just a bit too weird.

I like him a lot!
I'm pretty picky about what repaints I'll buy, and this figure has checked enough of my "pro" boxes to warrant a glad purchase.
Finally, a movie Sideswipe that can STAND properly rather than balancing on those idiotic wheel-feet the first one came with. Also, the inclusion of some good ol' fashioned hand held firepower ( like Brawn and R IH ) is a real plus in my book. In view of all this, I don't even mind the color change. It's actually a nice break from the bland all-over silver of the original ROTF releases.
Consider this one bought!

I'll bet anything this guy's gonna be the main sideswipe mold for TF3...if he's not that stupid convertible we saw earlier. Hope they give him the silver treatment in TF3, but I dought he'll use those pistols. ;)

Is it the red that ruins it or maybe just the cheap looking, all black wheels? I hate when they don't paint the rims...even on real cars black rims just look crappy to me. It may be the red, too, though.

Guess I'll be the one..I like it..The addidtion of the feet is a nice touch, kind of a sign that hasbro was listening when the complaints about standing SS. The red IMO deosn;t really take away from the figure, it's a nice touch IMO..

Not to mention the dual handguns..More guns is always a good thing :P

I like it.

I'm going to end up with a whole army of this guy and keep them on in my ever-more-misnamed Classics collection.

Ok now im sold on this figure. Not only are there new parts but they fixed the crappy "feet" from the first mold. Ill probably keep this one in robot mode and the original in car mode.

I'm a sucker for Double Guns. Yuna from FFX. Gundam Cherudim. ROTF Brawn. Now Sidearm Sideswipe. Awesome.

The red parts and the wheels being all black just kill it for me. I actually like the design though. The fix for the feet is absolutely appropriate. Some folks are griping that they don't look right.....well the original figure's feet were wrong too! The damned things weren't screen accurate AND they wouldn't allow the figure to stand on its own worth a crap. That was just a little hard to swallow.

I like the design, but the colors are just stupid looking. Also, Hasbro has gotten enough of my money for movie-verse Sideswipe figures. I am done!

You mean, FFX-2. ;)

Anybody notice that Hasbro seems to be pretty lacking on the paint apps for some figures these days? Sideswipe here is all silver with a bit of red, but there's no detailing anywhere...no taillights, no emblems, no rims/hubcaps. Just no detal. Same with Battle Blades Bumblebee, aside from the racing stripes. They're getting the designs right, but falling short on the paint apps. Cost-cutting, I suppose. Too bad.

Yech. That thing is uglier than a two-dollar hooker after the sun comes up.

Kinda neat, though. If I can figure him out as another character I might consider picking him up, as a Sideswipe he's just sub-par.

Not a bad Idea.
