Hi Fandom,
I posted this query to TRU CANADA for them to explain their pricing on their items given the rise of the $CAD. I have had just about enough of this. For heaven's sake even birthday cards and the like still use a 40% exchange when we are almost at par with the $US. Hope you enjoy the read. I will post their response when it comes in:
Hi there,
I am just contacting you today to request an explanation for the prices that you are quoting on this item as a sample:
CAD
http://www.toysrus.ca/webapp/wcs/stores ... &nvalue=27
I compare it to the same item available in the US:
US
http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.js ... age=search
Going through the exchange rate on these I come up with 75%. Given the rise in the value of the $CAD this item and many others needs repricing.
I simply cannot forsee myself paying these prices when in the end it would be cheaper to have these items shipped from the US with the added cost of shipping and customs in the end.
Honestly now you must see that repricing on these items is becoming more and more apparent.
You have done it on some like this one so there is a precedence on this matter:
US
http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.js ... age=search
CAD:
http://www.toysrus.ca/webapp/wcs/stores ... &nvalue=27
I look forward to hearing from you on this matter as the price point on one these similar items should not be any different.
Kindest regards and God Bless,

I noticed this a lot when I'm in Canada, plus your TFs seemed higher priced even when the exchange rate was better.

I know, it's ridiculous - our dollar is almost 1-to-1 with the US buck right now, but I'm still going to pay 10$ for Real Gears, 10$ for Robot Heroes, 15$ for Deluxe figures, 30$ for Voyagers, and a whoppin' 90$ for Leader class figure!!! and that's all before taxes!

I went to Toys'R'Us today in (ontario) to get Ironhide, leader class prime and bumblebee unleashed. Going in i knew the U.S. price.
ha, 69.99 for leader class prime. Don't think so, go fly a kite. 32.99 for bumblebee, again, kite flying for toys'r'us. And of course, they didnt even have Ironhide or starscream.
What a dissapointment.
70.00 for prime.. honestly.

Better then nothing I suppose! Hopefully, they realize there are some of us collectors who weren't born on the dumb dumb tree yesterday and won't pay a 75% markup or whatever it is for items. I don't know many middle class parents who would fork over 70$ for a robot toy either, when they could just as well get a 15-20$ one! Hopefully we see some changes!

My leader prime was 70 in Canada... 80 after tax... (and after donating the dollar to children's hospital)

Ya, I noticed the super price difference too. I was going to hit TRU early morning June 2nd but decided against it because of the price I would have had to pay for Leader Prime.

I went to michigan on the weekend to get the movie toys and I saved 90-100 by getting them there instead of my local scamsrus. Its silly to think that I would have to drive to the states to by one, when theres a toyrus down the street. Optimus prime is 69.99+tax here and in the Michigan it was 39.99+tax, thats a huge savings especially with our 14 percent tax vs I think it was 4 percent or so, Ontario prime 80, michigan prime 46 dollars canadian. that was worth the trip alone, even if i got stopped to pay duty I still would have saved atleast 70 bucks.
