TFSource has a new preorder item that revealed a new Takara Transformers Masterpiece - Live Action Movie Edition Starscream.
It is not confirmed whether this is the Hunt For The Decepticons Leader Class Starscream (
http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/ ... ream/1965/) with the Masterpiece packaging.
They toy is expected to be released in the end of October 2010.

You can preorder the item here:

That definitely looks like the leader class Starscream. Doesn't make sense to me that they confuse the Masterpiece line with an odd release like that.

It's the Leader Class ROTF toy with a more accurate movie 1 paint scheme. The holes on the chest flaps are a dead giveaway.

I can't blame them for doing it, if it's true. The Leader Class figures (well, Prime and Starscream, that is) are Masterpiece level of quality and design.
Selling them as Masterpieces isn't a slimy thing to do, because they're basically telling the truth here. These are masterpieces.

Well, great. Do I stick with my crummy paintjob HFTD 'Screamer or do I change my preorder to this beauty and wait for another 3 months without such an awesome mold?
...change preorder it is.
P.S. If TakTomy's screamer is getting a tattoo-free deco then why does he have them on his box picture? Personally, I don't think they can be included as a sticker sheet, considering how elaborate the tattoo job is.

Don't start ruining the MP line Has/Tak/Tomy. This could be the first MP I do not get. HORRIBLE FUGLY MOULD.

Quoted for truth.
If this is true, it's wasting a spot in the MP line. That's not to say it's a bad figure, it just belongs in its own line.

I personally wouldn't mind if Leader Starscream was released under the Masterpiece line, but they have to change a few things to make him a true "Masterpiece". The new paint scheme is a good start, but some accessories like a display stand and maybe a ladder as well as some minor modifications like rubber wheels would really help it shine.

People seemed to accept the Buster Prime leader as a premium repaint, why should this be any different? However, if this is similar to Prime, a repainted/reengineered version of the leader SS, this is just lazy marketing to call it a MP.
Edit: if this does wind up being a leader SS redo, it better get some decent hands!

It IS the Leader Class mold...but I don't think it's meant to be a Movie 1 deco.
The figure and box are different for starters...

When I saw the title, I thought 'Another MP Starscream repaint, but now in movie colors.' I didn't know it was a Movie Starscream. -_-

They must be joking! Is it so difficult making the rest of the seeker jets? Come on even Igear is doing best than that, they are giving us what we want, the problem is that they aren't official Hasbro/Takara realese. I understand that they also made a Takara realese of Movie Leader Starscream but for the Masterpiece line it's absurd!!!

...Wow. Really, Takara? You think you can fool us that easily? Just watch guys, they're gonna sell it for a higher price, just because it's packaged like a Masterpiece and it's shinier

Very cool without the Cybertronian glyphs, and the paint scheme is accurate to the first movie, I like it!

From a Japanese marketing point of view it makes sense. We haven't heard any reports on Takara importing the HFTD line (if only Battle Baldes Prime and 'Bee), the only new mold Leader is Starscream, and Leader Prime only has the hooks as a new addition, not really fit for a re-release there.
And guys, it's not the first time the Masterpiece line has included a non-G1 Transformer. Anybody remember MP-B01 King Exkizer and MP-B02 Dragon Kizer? The MP-M01 designation implicates it belongs to a mere subline, like the two Brave Masterpieces were. So skip it!

So leader-class figures are now up there with Masterpeice level figures.
Lame.
If this turns out to be a different mold, I'll eat my words, but it's lame that the MP line is being downgraded to leader-class figs.

Agreed; I'd have taken bloody Wheelie over this blasphemy. Please tell me that I haven't actually woken up yet and this is all a bad dream.
