Discovery that I only just got 'round to posting:

Certain of SIEGE Ratchet's accessories use the same kind of rectangular 5mm peg that T30 Arcee's do.

I just discovered earlier this afternoon, while working on Kingdom Cheetor's gallery, that I've had Beast Wars Transmetal Cheetor holding his weapon incorrectly all these years. I've always thought it was a tail whip and that the "axe" part of his tail was like a stylized sword hilt or something odd. I didn't realize that it was supposed to be held like an axe until I was watching a Youtube video about Kingdom Cheetor. Ooops!

Generations Leader Jetfire and CW Leader Starscream.

I had both of these figures for years but I never thought about mix-matching accessories.

Quantum Surge wrote:Also the backpack from Jetfire helps complete the red pylons of G1 Starscream.

Well, s#it!

Image

This look absolutely fantastic! :APPLAUSE:
Especially if you remove the blue "null-rays" from his arms and plug-in the big white ones instead.

Image

In jet mode, it also work pretty well. Unfortunately, the white part of the Jetfire backpack clash with the overall gray of Starscream.

Image

Look pretty damn fine from the side too.

Image

Bonus finding. The crown can fit snugly with the gun for the jet mode. It would obviously work as well for robot mode.

Image

I'll keep an eye open to get a spare Gen Leader Jetfire backpack to properly customise for Starscream. This really complete him.

I just found out that you can storage Ultra Magnus' gun on the gap made by the kibble behind his head. It's not tabbed, but it stays in place.

So not necessarily something they can do that I never realized but still something I found interesting. Cybertron Ransack/Galaxy Force Gasket and Combiner Wars Legends Groove share a remarkably identical transformation design skeleton.

Everyone is transforming the CW Dead End mold in Arm Mode wrong

I usually see the arms in Arm Mode flush against the body, while the Instructions (does anyone even read those for simple transformations nowadays?) show them out like in Robot Mode, at an angle against the abdomen seemingly resting there. Emphasis on "seemingly", as they do lock in place there:

Image
Transformers Generations Combiner Wars Dead End Gallery

If you look closely you see angled slots on the car roof, that's where they go.

:EDIT: And Drag Strip has slots on his hips that the shoulder pylon hook into. Huh.

Everyone saw how it was supposed to be transformed, but everyone also realized it wasn't necessary and kinda sucked, so they ignored it.

Dragstrip I think we all knew had a slot for the shoulders, at least mine has always been like that

Everyone who only used their Menasor as a static display, you mean.
If you're going to play with him and move his arms, it absolutely is necessary to do that with the Dead End mold's arms because if they're left tucked in a la car mode they cause clearance issues when using the outward motion of the shoulders.

I have only once transformed my Dead End that way, it was ugly, and it still hit Motormaster, so the result was not a positive one. It's why every use of that mold I have stays mistransformed

Yeah, Motormaster has the worst shoulder clearance in Torso Mode. At least with the intended transformation Menasor has free elbows...

Didn't notice you could attach Galvatron guns lower on is back. There are slots on his Revenge guns that fits the tabs (you can see them on the right gun on the pic)

Time for a thread bump!

I'm sure someone else thoughts of that before, but the ER Cliffjumper mold can have an "Air Warrior" mode with club, shield, and a jetpack.

Shown here with my Goldbugs:

so heres a hell of a throwback while also being informative. you can store classics hot rod's stock blaster on the fansproject protector trailer in the same spot from vehicle mode when you have it in turret mode if you dont want to do the whole big ass blaster bit for rodimus or just want him to be weilding firebolt.

It's not expensive and it's easy to get.
I have the yellow "Movie" version.

Don't forget a weapon of his feels rubbery on the Hasbro version while it's sturdier on the Takara release.

I swear I was such an ignoramus back then...

I dug out Armada Hoist recently, and all this time I thought I had a broken one because his arm gimmick was always unlocked. I disassembled the part in question but couldn't see anything wrong... Until I realised that black spring-loaded tab is what did the locking:

Flip it over, lock it in place and you're good... though why would you want to? Worst Armada gimmick of the line...

Seeing this thread pop up again reminded me of this. I didn't realize this until relitively recently, but if you keep the fists deployed you can use Volcanicus' combined mode feet as big stompers for Grimlocks' dino mode. Not sure if this is one of those things in the instructions or not, but I thought it was neat. They aren't 100% secure, but they stay in there!

Found out Titans Return Hardhead's gray main cannon can fit on Siege Brunt by using one of Brunts weapon pieces giving him a big shoulder cannon making him more like Tankor
