Tuner Mudflap killed Wal-Mart's Transformer section

There have been the same 27 Tuner Mudflaps at my local Wal-Mart for like 2 1/2 weeks now (probably closer to 3 weeks). I can't believe that they've keept the same 1 transformer on their shelf for this long. Wouldn't be so bad if there were a few others there to break the monotany, but the only others are 1 delux ratchet and 1 FAB Jazz. No other transformers in the entire store. (Target's not much better, but at least they've got a slightly better variety.) :BOT:

He also killed Target's TF section. Last time I was there the only TF's they had were 14 Tuner Mudflaps. Literally, they had no other TF's at all.

My Wal-Mart's got a pretty good variety, but unfortunately they aren't selling. They put out some "new"(read: wave 1) Voyagers to sit alongside the several Stratospheres. I have seen maybe 1 Long Haul since ROTF has been out, and no NEST Voyagers have graced the shelves period.

Deluxes are made up of mostly Tunder Mudflaps, Dirge's, and Stalker Scorponok's. Ok I think there's a few more thrown in(I did see a Smokescreen today), but yeah, mostly Mudflap's.

No Scout either. Which is odd, cause the pegs have been bare for a few weeks. I have never seen a Skystalker in my area, at any store, ever.

And just think, we all have Tuner Skids to look forward to. I can't wait man, I'm going to get like 50 of them!! Yeah, right! The only people that'll buy them are the peculiar collectors who got 12 Tuner Mudflaps in the "Double your action giveaway" and feel compelled to complete the dynamic duo. I just pray to Primus that we don't have this same problem with Tuner Skids when he's unleashed on this world.

I was just think the same thing about the upcoming Tuner Skids. When Tuner Skids and Tuner Mudflap are united they will be an unstoppable per-warming force to be reckoned with. What the hell does the Tuner portion of their name even mean?

I'm assuming that is an actual question and not just a jab at it being unworthy of the name. "Tuner" is fairly common vernacular for a modified vehicle or at times the person doing the modifying, more typically of the japanese import or compact variety.

Drift would actually be a better example of a tuner.

My local Walmart has a pretty decent selection of Transformers. The last time i was there they have NEST Deluxes ratchet, lockdown, Brawn and the others, but not many voyager class figs and 1 or 2 of the LC Primes and thats it.

My local Wally has had the same dusty collection of Mudflaps and Ravages for months. Even the last of the Ratchet and Ironhide repaints has been sold, but those same deluxes are still warming pegs. They've even remodeled the store around them.

These pictures I took back in September? Subtract the Bumblebees and Barricades and you've got the idea.

So my question is...Will Wal-Mart have to finish selling these (at regular price believe it or not) before they bring in the new stuff. If thats the cae we could be waiting another 3 to 4 months.

It was an actual question, learn something new everyday. Thanks!

Why exactly do they make these figures if all they're going to do is warm the shelves?

My Wal-Mart isn't terrible at the moment. They have a few NEST deluxes but as for voyagers or scouts forget it. They still have the same Demolishor figures sitting around since last summer, along with multiples of Ejector and Scapel. What I don't get is that if they're trying to get rid of them, why not put them on sale?

Because Hasbro doesn't have a psychic marketing team that knows what will and won't be popular with kids and moms/dads/grandparents buying for said kids?

Well, the movie line totally killed the hungarian stores too. Not Tuner Mudflap, but the wave 2-3 of deluxes. There are a load of Chromias, Dead Ends, Skids, a few Ravages, etc... here, and the Leader waves got only to Optimus and Megatron too. No movement since those came out, and that was half a year ago.

Too bad, since the universe shelfwarmers (even the Animated ones like Blackarachnia and Ratchet), although slowly, but almost completely disappeared, and there's no indication of possible arrival of PCCs (although Slovakia already got their shares of them)

True, but they should know by now that Mudflap isn't selling, and there's ANOTHER Mudflap repaint coming out. What the hell are they thinking? All these figures nobody wants are making it hard to find the figures we do.

I forsee a lot of Tuner Mudflaps going into the Toys for Tots bins near Christmas time, cause they are still going to be sitting there! Even in the clearance section these things are going NOWHERE!!

Lots of Tuners at my Walmart. Pretty pathetic.

This is nothing new. However the HFTD line itself is chock full of mostly...repaints of shelfwarmers. Kinda sad to see Dirge a shelfwarmer. Of all the ROTF toys next to Bludgeon, and Mindwipe, I was totally impressed with Dirge. I have him on display with my NeoG1 collection.

This will be a wild year as Generations will have it's share of Shelfwarmers too.

Doesn't Hasbro use a test audience (don't know if they do) to see which figure are more desireable?

For example, large group of kids and Hasbro rep.

Rep holds up two pictures, one of T. Mudflap and the other of Mindwipe

Rep goes: Ok kids which figure would you rather play with? (correct answer is Mindwipe)

Do they even do such a thing?

It killed the TF section in my local TRU too. Almost all of the new stuff they had (HFTD mostly, BB and OP Generations) is GONE. One lone PCC left, and pegs and pegs of freaking Mudflap.

I guess even little kids have good taste.

Oh, and they also have like 5 Hoist vs. Mixmaster two packs on the shelf, I moved the one in front, and the ones in back are so covered in dust the front window is opaque.

I am tired of spending tons of money, so it really isn't such a bad thing, IMO.

I swear, everything that I was going to post on this topic was rendered moot by every successive post in this thread. It is kind of mindblowing that there is going to be another 'Tuner' repaint. I've also had that experience of going into the toy section of (insert store name here) and finding only Tuner Mudflaps in the Transformer section. Doesn't matter what store it is even.

I also didn't know that 'Tuner' refered to some car modifying thing. Knowing is half the battle.

Come to think of it, I never thought to punch you in the face at Botcon over Tuner Mudflap.

Talk about a missed opportunity.

There was no need.

We all got a lil' Donkey Punch at BotCon. Shoot...we even paid for it.
