Bumblebee question about his transformation.

I got all the new Movie transformers and I like them all, but I am having a real problem with Bumblebee. I can transform him just fine to his robot mode but when I try to reverse the transformation I cant get the front part of his hood to remain closed. It pops back open like there is nothing to hold it down. I check where his head was and what not but I can't seem to find what I am doing wrong. Is this a design flaw? Thanks for the input.

Have you tried slightly depressing the button you use to flip the hood down? That worked for me.

Sorry to tell you this but it sounds like you got the double thick tab version of BB, the defective version. There was a topic about it a few days back. It can't be fixed, gotta take it back.

Yep, he's broke! Click on the link above that shows what to look for so you don't buy a defective one.

If you look further towards the end of the linked thread, DarkZero pointed out that it's the lower tab that's the problem. It's basically the hood button not functioning like it should and when extra force is applied, it either bends or breaks the plastic.
From my own understanding of the situation (from playing around with my malfunctioning BB), if the hood button was functioning properly, then the lower tab would pull back causing the hood to release. When the tab is bent (which happened in my case) or broken, the hood will not stay in place when BB is in vehicle form.
The only way to fix it from that point is to remove the spring from the hood.

Other possibility being that maybe the spring is just too powerfull for its own good.
