TFU.info Survey

Hi all!

Since adding the new update and creating the the new Toy Tables for the site, I've been mulling over various ideas on how to improve http://www.TFU.info. So I figured the best way to find out would be to pose the question to the people who use it most. With that in mind, I've concocted the following survey; big thanks in advance to everyone taking the time to answer these questions and provide feedback.

1) What additional information do you feel would best compliment the site entries at TFU.info?

2) What improvements to the navigation would you like to see on the site?

3) Would you like to see more information regarding appearances of each toy/character in various forms of fiction? If yes, howso? And if yes, howso in a way not already covered by TF Wiki, TFW and other sites? (My goal is to compliment what information is already out there, not to replace or duplicate information better served by other sites.)

4) How do you feel about individual page boosters/sponsorships? (Similar to what Sports Reference's pages do.) Would you be willing to pay a small ($1-$25) yearly fee to sponsor and/or link your site from or leave a message on your favorite character's page to help support this resource?

5) Would you like to see figure reviews accompanying the entries? If so, would only one suffice or would you prefer differing opinions?

6) Are you more willing to submit photos for archive entries if there were continual threads on forums like this one? (Where, instead of email, you could just post your images to the thread?)

7) Would you be interested in reading a daily blog/RSS entry on the site? If so, what topics would you like to see covered?

8) Do you like the site design graphically? Do you feel it needs a new logo or color scheme?

9) Do you know there are boxed and/or carded images for many of the entries on the site?

Of course, if you have any other ideas or suggestions as far as the site's content goes, please feel free to add them into this thread, but please try and focus on the questions above first. Thanks!

First off. I have to thank you for maintaining that site. Its a great resource.

1) What additional information do you feel would best compliment the site entries at TFU.info?

Reviews on the figures would be nice. And or links to places where you could acquire some of them. Maybe some Ebay auction search results for the figures name.

2) What improvements to the navigation would you like to see on the site?

Navigation is pretty good. Though Perhaps an alphabetically ordered list of lines. BTW you are missing Marvel Crossovers in the "Series" section. Also maybe series logos to better identify them.

Not necessarily. While many have appeared in fiction, it may not be enough to warrant that much redesign.

4) How do you feel about individual page boosters/sponsorships? (Similar to what Sports Reference's pages do.) Would you be willing to pay a small ($1-$25) yearly fee to sponsor and/or link your site from or leave a message on your favorite character's page to help support this resource?

Perhaps just a donate link if you think its necessary.

5) Would you like to see figure reviews accompanying the entries? If so, would only one suffice or would you prefer differing opinions?

Revews would be nice, or at least links to reviews. Maybe even links to video reviews.

6) Are you more willing to submit photos for archive entries if there were continual threads on forums like this one? (Where, instead of email, you could just post your images to the thread?)

Perhaps, I'm sure more people would see the request for help tat way.

7) Would you be interested in reading a daily blog/RSS entry on the site? If so, what topics would you like to see covered?

That could be interesting, perhaps talk about a certain character's appearances. Or some news about different things going on in the TF world. Like upcoming releases.

8) Do you like the site design graphically? Do you feel it needs a new logo or color scheme?

Its a little outdated, but it works. Perhaps updating it bit would hrlp.

9) Do you know there are boxed and/or carded images for many of the entries on the site?

Yes, though they aren't immediately obvious.

Only one reply? Gotta fix that

1) What additional information do you feel would best compliment the site entries at TFU.info?

You've already covered the basics, but one suggestion I was thinking about is to put Warnings on some entries, like fragile figures, or even worse: if a toy suffers from Gold Plastic Syndrome. like "Warnings: This toy is known to suffer from Gold Plastic Syndrome"

2) What improvements to the navigation would you like to see on the site?

Maybe it's a good idea to give the "Smaller subgroups" an overhaul, and possibly throw out the comic-only groups that appear only once, or at least separate the toy groups from the comic groups.

I consider TFU.info more of a toy archive than anything else, really. If you must, could include the span of issues or cartoons, maybe even cameos.

4) How do you feel about individual page boosters/sponsorships? (Similar to what Sports Reference's pages do.) Would you be willing to pay a small ($1-$25) yearly fee to sponsor and/or link your site from or leave a message on your favorite character's page to help support this resource?

I'd gladly support it if I had the money...

5) Would you like to see figure reviews accompanying the entries? If so, would only one suffice or would you prefer differing opinions?

Multiple opinions are better, since everyone has his own taste. But real reviews wouldn't do. A better idea would be a poll for each toy, like "How would you rate this figure"?

6) Are you more willing to submit photos for archive entries if there were continual threads on forums like this one? (Where, instead of email, you could just post your images to the thread?)

What I find a bit problematic is that even though some entries don't have images, it doesn't show that photos are needed, meaning there's no list of needed photos. Maybe that's an idea?

7) Would you be interested in reading a daily blog/RSS entry on the site? If so, what topics would you like to see covered?

I'm not much of a blog reader, so I can't comment on that.

8) Do you like the site design graphically? Do you feel it needs a new logo or color scheme?

Maybe some new colors and/or graphics style wouldn't hurt.

9) Do you know there are boxed and/or carded images for many of the entries on the site?

I do. And I really applaud that. I wish there were more varieties to those though :)

Hello!

1) What additional information do you feel would best compliment the site entries at TFU.info?

It's pretty adequate at the moment I feel.

2) What improvements to the navigation would you like to see on the site?

None particularly, I've always found it easy to use.

3) Would you like to see more information regarding appearances of each toy/character in various forms of fiction? If yes, howso?

Maybe a "First Appearance" type of thing rather than every fiction appearance. Let's face it there's very few of the fictions that an Optimus Prime hasn't appeared in.

4) How do you feel about individual page boosters/sponsorships? (Similar to what Sports Reference's pages do.) Would you be willing to pay a small ($1-$25) yearly fee to sponsor and/or link your site from or leave a message on your favorite character's page to help support this resource?

How about a rating system? Don't know how hard it would be to code, but on Lovefilm DVD hire site they have a star rating device which you select how good your movie was and then the listing shows the average star mark and how many votes it has had. Something like that could be cool.

5) Would you like to see figure reviews accompanying the entries? If so, would only one suffice or would you prefer differing opinions?

Not fussed, there are plenty of other reviews floating around. TFU is a great TF research source though and I suppose research should include opinions from people who have had their hands on the toy.

6) Are you more willing to submit photos for archive entries if there were continual threads on forums like this one? (Where, instead of email, you could just post your images to the thread?)

My TF collection is well covered on TFU but a Forum situation could be useful however, if anyone can post anything you have the job of wading through possible pages of threads to find the occasional gem.

7) Would you be interested in reading a daily blog/RSS entry on the site? If so, what topics would you like to see covered?

No opinion.

8) Do you like the site design graphically? Do you feel it needs a new logo or color scheme?

My only gripe about TFU, ever, would be it looks a bit dated. ou could do with sprucing it up a bit, yes.

9) Do you know there are boxed and/or carded images for many of the entries on the site?

No. Well I do now, but I didn't, should've spotted that "Carded" was a link. You should make that clearer or explain it somewhere obvious for fools like me!

As far as it goes though TFU is a great site, Keep It Up!
