Scale for Movie Toys

Hey, I've heard a few different things as to which sets of figures for the movie are in scale with which. For example, would Leader class or Voyager class Optimus be in scale with the Deluxes and the other Voyagers?
I'm thinkin' maybe Leader Optimus and Megs, all Voyagers except Optimus and Megs, and all the Deluxes are in scale with each other. Would that be correct? If not, please lemme know what's right here. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

you're almost right. Brawl has been released in Leader Class and I believe that makes him in scale. I imagine Wreckage would be bigger than Deluxe in real life (Voyager) and Pay Load would be bigger than deluxe also (yet, not quite as big as Voyager so, I dont know)

If you buy Leader Optimus, all the Autobots are in almost perfect scale. The decepticons however are really off and don't match up with each other.

The Autobots would be in scale with Leader Prime. However I think considering what Megs does to Jazz in the trailer that Leader Megs still isn't big enough. He would probably have to be a supream or larger to really be in scale. The Cons on the other hand have real scale problems as already mentioned.

My calculations place Blackout (the tallest Decepticon) as being twice the height of Prime. Megatron might be somewhere in between which should be Supreme-class. Starscream would have to be pretty big -- again maybe suitable for Supreme. Brawl's probably ok for Leader-class. Barricade is fine for Deluxe, as is Scorponok.

what about bonecrusher? On top of all this, which ones are actually getting released in the correct scale if not already?

Bonecrusher has been rumored to be released in a Voyager which would be closer but he should be a leader or the Vanished Ultra class to be correct. Brawl also a leader coming or so rumors indicate. Megs will never be the right scale as he would need to be a supreme, but Leader is alright. Blackout will never be in scale either. Starscream should be a leader or larger.

So we have in scale with each other.

Prime
Ironhide
Ratchet
Jazz
BB

Barricade
Brawl (Leader)

And that's about it. All the rest would have to be larger than they already are, or to ridiculusly large to be made in scale. Mostly the Cons are the worst for overall scale.

Here's what I came up with on another forum, in a thread regarding leader class brawl's announcement:

Wow leader class Brawl is awesome. So far most of the decepticons are in their own scale, while the autobots are in a much larger and more accurate scale. Here's what I think would make for the perfect figure line up to scale.

Deluxe:
Bumblebee (v1 and v2)
Barricade
Jazz
Scorponok
Swindle (video game)

Voyager
Ratchet
Ironhide
Longarm* (video game)
Bonecrusher*

Leader
Optimus Prime
Megatron
Starscream* (supreme would be better)
Blackout* (supreme would be better)
Brawl

I'm thinking that would be the good enough sclaing for all the movie characters, of course * denoting figures that aren't planned/announced yet.

It would be good enough but Boncrusher is at least as large if not just a tiny bit smaller than Prime. And Megs is clearly much larger than Prime. Megs uses Jazz as a freaking Flail after stomping on him, he is freaking gigantic.

So, what is the approximate scale ratio?(i.e. 1:32 scale)

Yeah but I don't think they're going to give us anything bigger than leader class, and if they did it would make a lot of people pissed because they just spent $40-50 and then hasbro puts out a very similar but slightly better and bigger version for another $50-60, it just wouldn't be good business. He may not be perfectly movie accurate, but thanks to his alt mode not really being anything he can get away with being slightly smaller.

I knew someone would pick up on bonecrusher, personally I'd put him at ultra size but they did away with that. So it's either voyager or leader, and if he's leader size he's going to be as big as megatron and that just wouldn't work. In the scene I saw he was slightly smaller than prime, and only a bit taller than a bus in robot mode, and considering how big ratchet is I think voyager would suit him fine.

Frankly, that puts the movie line ahead of most other TF toylines by leaps and bounds with regards to scale.

Actually, the alternators line has the best record with regards to scale. They're all 1:24. a close second might be the movie line then.

He was crouched down in that scene so I wouldn't use the bus as a good comparison. I would use when he tackled prime to be more accurate. And yea I would say if anything he would probably be the missing Ultra class.

As for bigger figures No I wouldn't expect them to do anything that we haven't already heard rumors or comfirmations of. What we know or think we know is pretty much it. Just if we want the scale to be right some of the figures would have to be much larger than they are.

So, what is the approximate scale ratio?(i.e. 1:32 scale)

That would be a fair guess. I don't think there is any official scale to be honest. Most of the size class are based purely on the plastic volume used by the figure. That is why Blackout appears smaller than the other Voyagers. With his tail and blades on his back he uses up as much plastic as the other Voyagers, but the others use it all in the robot mode not in extranious weaponry mounted on their backs.

That's why I said "most".

Not so sure the movie line is really that close a second, though... A semi bigger than a fighter jet? :P

On a side note, though, I seem to recall David Willis saying Deluxe Bonecrusher is about the right scale to comapre with the Legends cars. Gimme a sec...

http://shortpacked.livejournal.com/217601.html There we go.

So Bumblebee, Jazz, Ratchet, and Ironhide are to scale with Leader Prime, which would make Barricade and Swindle the right size too... Except for Frenzy, who comes with Barricade but is way too tall by comparison. He should be about half that size...

Then again, I can live with it. Scale never really mattered to me before, why should it now? Seriously, if Blast-Off was to scale, Bruticus would have one arm so huge it'd make Savage Claw Mode look like Homestar Runner.
